I think Bossman probably had more shelf-life as an upper card heel before they turned him. His timeline:

-Summer 1988: debuts and squashes people.
-September 1988: attacks Hogan and kicks-off their program. Runs until (basically) April 1989 when it's blown-off on SNME.
-March 1989 to July 1989: full-time as a tag teamer in "The Twin Towers". Goes up against Demolition.
-July 1989: feud with the debuting Dusty Rhodes begins. Runs until early January 1990.
-February 1990: turns face on the Brother Love Show when he gets involved in the Robert/DiBiase feud... claiming a tough sell about he "won't accept a pay-off".

Less than 2 years as a WWF heel. Seems a little surprising for a guy who was a pretty good worker in his role. I don't think he was getting stale, either. I always expected him to feud with Jim Duggan at some point.

I always wanted to see face Big Bossman against heel Sargent Slaughter in sort of a "good cop vs. bad cop/military man" feud. The matches might not have been very good, but it would have been something kind of interesting during Sarge's lousy heel title run.

I don't know why I'm thinking of it, but I want to track down segments of an episode of Raw, circa Summer 2000, when Christian had to make weight to challenge for the Light-Heavyweight Title, including Commissioner Foley giving him a chicken suit to wear. Hell, 2000 E & C were awesome, period. Dammit, they made Kazoo's look cool.

Late night at the office, Denise (my wife, she is the office manager/receptionist for my tax practice) says she is going to give me the "atomic" elbow smash and instead, she gave me a leg sweep. The CPA (that's me) went down in a heap, maybe I should give her a raise otherwise she may give me a black eye next time

Every time I try and watch an episode of Raw from 1999 on Classics on Demand, I give up about 30-minutes in. Long and dull promos to open, a couple of 2 minute matches that include nonsensical angles, and then more talking...

Classics on Demand, in general, is looking like a terrible month.

Trying to watch: "For all Mankind-- the Life and Career of Mick Foley" on Netflix. So far it's his usual attention-whoring stuff from his book, now with video interlaced. To hear Foley tell it, you'd think he was just as important as Hulk Hogan. He tries to play off this facade of being a humble guy, but he's really his own biggest fan and can't stop blowing himself.

It is kinda' cool to hear soundbytes from Vader*. I'd like to hear something from the Undertaker, but has he EVER done a talking head piece for any DVD?

Obviously, it'd also be nice to hear Sting's take on the 1991-1992 stuff with Cactus Jack, but that's currently impossible. If Sting ever retires (or makes the WWE jump as teased every 6 months or so), he'd be a great addition to their retrospective DVD's. Heck, release another Flair or nWo set, now with Sting's remarks throughout.

*Vader kinda' looks like a big teddy bear, nowadays. Makes you want to slap a cassette tape in his back and let him tell you bedtime stories.

I used to love Mick Foley, but as the 2000's and his retirement (well, his first retirement) progressed, I just kinda got tired of hearing him make himself out as someone, like you said, as important as Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair. He did some good work, and he had tons of charisma, but his window of being a top star was about 2 years. I'm happy he's proud of his career, but you have to be a bit more humble sounding for the story you're presenting.

The thing that kills me with Foley is the way he complains about Sting. Sting was way higher on the totem pole than he was and Sting really didn't owe him a ton to be honest. Foley was just a mid-carder and if Sting gave too much, that would hurt him at the end of the day.

I'll only say one more thing about Foley, since it's pretty well known around here that I'm not a fan of his (up there with Jannetty, Shawn Michaels and Raven).

In the DVD, he's talking about his high school background and says something like: "so I wrestled Kevin James.... [dramatic pause]...that's right, the King of Queens was my opponent!" Whoa, you wrestled THAT Kevin James?! Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow. You had such an amazing life to have gone to high school with an even more annoying douche than yourself! Really, Kevin James isn't that famous.

It'd be one thing if they had remained buddies and they got James to chime in on it. But it's not like this was Wade Boggs and Curt Hennig.

1991-92 Sting was the top babyface in the company. Mick Foley was a solid midcard act who, honestly, was a one-trick pony (he could take a lot of abuse). It's rare to come across anyone to say something bad about Sting, so Foley really comes across as a baby about it.

It's amazing, and sometimes sad, to hear the difference in Bobby Heenan's voice when he was working for WCW. I'm not saying he was the greatest, but he always seemed to have energy and fun in his voice, even for the dumbest shit the WWF did, but in WCW, he sounded as if he stopped loving his job, almost soul-less.

Reading Rowe's reviews of the 2002 PPV's, I almost forgot what a fucking black hole the Undertaker was when it came to workrate. You've got that nearly-half hour long stinker with the Rock at No Way Out, a so-so match at WrestleMania with Flair, an ATROCIOUS half-hour of crap with Austin at Backlash, terrible match with Hogan at Judgment Day, even worse match with Triple H at KOTR... seriously, who green-lit 'Taker to get matches that averaged at over 20-minutes long each?

Yet, they insisted on going through with a 20+ minute singles main event at KOTR. Despite Undertaker delivering shitty performance after shitty performance, and Triple H working through an injury. They couldn't even cut their losses and do a 12 minute, overbooked fiasco to cover their bases, they had the nerve to go out there and act like they could deliver a **** match. Plus, they were forcing Undertaker to play a heel that no one hated while Triple H was playing a babyface that no one liked.

Here's another random gem from the Summer of '02... Kevin Nash coming back from injury, only to crumple in pain with a torn quad his first moment involved in a match. Sorry, Undertaker and Hunter's disasters reminds me of the final nail in WWE's now.
