It still blows my mind that they wasted a perfectly good Goldberg vs. Wrath match because of Nash's ego. |

Goldberg and Nash ImO are two of the most overrated wrestlers of the last 30 years ( I started watching in '83) Two of the biggest egos also Wrath is someone who did not live up to his potential. I am probably one of the few that liked him as part of Kronik and part of the Mortis/Wrath team. But never thought much of him as a singles wrestler whether as Nightstalker, Adam Bomb, Wrath or Bryan Clark |

He definitely improved during his Adam Bomb days. By the end of that stint, he was a fairly decent big man. I never followed WCW much (as mentioned already), but I saw him a few times as Wrath and found him to be a believable uppercard threat based on his moveset. |

I feel like Goldberg is a little underrated now. His match with DDP was absolutely amazing to watch. Going back, he's a really entertaining squash guy. He throws shit in there that surprises you even if you've just watched 30 of his matches in a row. He had one of the only spears that ever looked like it legit hurt. And I also think he understood his value and role really well compared to other guys. I'm not saying he was a good worker just that he's better than he gets credit for now. I went to a couple of shows at the height of Goldberg and the crowds were insane for him. I think they could have gotten another 6-12 months out of him and the streak. Nash really screwed the company with that move. I'm not saying Goldberg vs. Wrath would have been good but it would have drawn for them. Wrath was getting over with that push and people were getting excited for that match. They should have had Goldberg beat Nash at Starcade and then done Goldberg vs. Wrath at Superbrawl and Uncensored and then moved on to Goldberg/Flair in that April or May timeframe. Then Macho Man is back and there's another fresh opponent for Goldberg and then you had Sid as well. That's at least July or August and I think it would have still been drawing. Then you head into Halloween Havoc that year and Goldberg drops the belt to Bret Hart and see where the company goes from there. |

Funny thing - WCW did Goldberg vs. Wrath on Nitro a couple of times at least. Back when Wrath was still with James Vanderburg and after Mortis became Kanyon he was still kind of in an awkward transitional period. Just another Goldberg squash. Also, would anyone else out there besides me have loved to see a trainwreck of a match between Goldberg and The Warrior? |

They did it once that I know of. Wrath was posing on the second rope with all his gear on and Goldberg just picked him up for a Jackhammer and won almost instantly. I think that was Wrath's last appearance before he came back with the undefeated streak. |

I know it's entertaining to poke fun at Vince McMahon's commentary styles (whatamanuever! 1-2-3-he'sgothim-nohedoesn't!), but watching older PPV's, unless something is REALLY bad (IYH 4), he has believable energy and interest in everything, especially putting over a despicable heel or a title change. |

He didn't get actively bad until 1991 or so. |

Something I completely forgot about since I never get this deep into SummerSlam '93... the live crowd actually boos the singing of the Japanese National Anthem. Vince says it's a "partisan" crowd like Yankee Stadium... um... fuck you? Xenophobic storyline aside (random: Wasn't Luger's wife Japanese?), the guy carrying the Japanese Flag is our old pal from the Orient Express and future manager of Hakushi, Akio Sato. |

So sad to see Randy Savage relegated to "guy who pimps the show" at SummerSlam '94. There was still enough left in the tank to get a few years out of him. Savage didn't start to really get bad until 98 or so, and that's probably with age and injuries finally taking a toll. |

You know how weak the roster was by the Summer of '94? Alundra Blayze and Bull Nakano were having some of the best matches without the names "Hart" or "Michaels" attached to them. And the WWF still wouldn't push the Women's Division as more than an afterthought. |

Bull Nakano was probably a top 25 worker in the world at that point. So even with a better roster she would have been tough to beat. |

It goes to show the talent: The crowd was dead to start because they have no reason to care about the match, and then by the end their popping for every near fall and holy crap, did Bull Nakano pull out the Scorpion Crosslock years before I remember it being used? |
