Bob Backlund vs. Greg Valentine in a rematch from MSG. This one has a much better pace than the one hour draw.

People that claim Backlund wasn't over need to watch this match. He gets Valentine up for the Atomic Drop and the crowd absolutely loses it.

Good match though I hate the spot where the face taps the heel on the back to make him think he won the match. It's dumb and makes the heel look bad.

Bruno Sammartino vs. Ivan Koloff coming up next. Koloff has the baddest of badass capes.

Jerry/Johnny Valiant and Lou Albano vs. Dusty Rhodes, Tony Garea and Larry Z has been a surprisingly fun and compelling six man tag.

Wow, Lanny Poffo picked up a win on TV. Can-Ams and Poffo beat the Dream Team and Adrian Adonis when Adonis cut Beefcake's hair by mistake. Beefcake is pissed and it looks like his face turn has started.

I remember that when it happened

Didn't think much of it then, but as you said, it led to his face turn

Holy shit, the Honky Tonk Man fucking destroyed Jake with that guitar.

I remember thinking then that was a really stiff guitar shot

But it was a great visual

It seemed like it wasn't gimmicked or didn't break properly. They replayed it on Superstars and it still seemed like an extremely brutal shot to the back.

I'm watching the 1979-1983 stuff but I'm planning to get through the March TV with SNME and WMIII mixed in as well.

Who was a more useless sack of shit? Chief Jay Strongbow or Ivan Putski?

By the time I started watching in '83 they were both near the end of their runs

Chief Jay was over 50 at that point, so he was way past his prime

I have no desire to ever watch either of their matches, but I guess Strongbow was a slightly less awful worker.

Follow-up question: Who was a more useless sack of shit? Scott Putski or Mark Young (Strongbow's son who was a break-dancin' fool in 1989-90)?

I haven't seen enough Mark Young. Scott Putski was awful.

This set has a couple of Strongbow/Valentine matches that are supposed to be good. But Valentine is a miracle worker.
