It's a little slow starting. Once you champions in May it really starts to take off and then goes to the next level when Ricky Morton shows up.

I loved SMW as a kid. It was my first exposure to indy wrestling. Wasn't always the best, but it was consistent.

Honestly, I think Cornette works best as a booker with a filter. He's great for ideas, but occasionally needs some assistance with current events/concepts. His stuff with Steen in ROH shows that he occasionally can strike gold

I'm too hefty for my slacks. The zippers off it's tracks. I've stretched it to the maa-a-a-a-x.

"Whoa! The world's turnin'!"

With the official debut on Da' Site of UWF reviews, I thought it'd be fun to look back at our original retro thread from late 2007 into 2008:

(that's a link to page 4, where it gets good, IMO)

Nothing screams money like "Hollywood" Bob Holly coming out to David Bowie's "Fame."

In his book, Bob Holly talked about why he hated the "Hollywood" Bob Holly gimmick. He said he couldn't figure out why him, a redneck from Alabama, was given the role of a Hollywood movie star.

With the robe and everything he felt like he was a bad imitation of Ric Flair.

This whole bit with Ron Wright is hilarious. Fake sympathy for a heel in a wheel chair claiming doctor bills and medicare won't cover the cost of his hip transplant surgery.

Ron Wright is the best. Seriously, fantastic talker. Wait until you get to the Dirty White Boy. They do a segment with him at his home and he lives in a broken down school bus in a junkyard.

You also need to post when you hit the Tim Horner country musician segment.

I'm only on episode #6, and I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying Bob Holly's matches. I honestly never disliked him during his WWF run like most of the "smart" audience seemed to, but he definitely fell through the cracks because the usual placement of the card he was featured (B-Show or lower for almost all of his run).

Cornette has been hyping his team for weeks. I'm ready to see them debut and am anticipating when it might happen. Maybe it'll be a reformation of the Midnight Express! [/spoiler free]

Bob Armstrong sure loves handing out fines. Good thing Ron Wright isn't being fined over and over again.. just banned from ringside unless he has a contract with a wrestler or wrestlers involved in a match. He'll never get that hip and knee replacement he desperately needs if Bullet Bob drops the fine hammer on him!

"Bob Holly cuts a pretty good promo. The Hollywood gimmick is kind of lame but he plays it up really well. I think he's pretty much gone after this or the next set of tapings so don't get used to him being there."

Damn it! I guess I'll get over not seeing much more of Hollywood Holly.

You're getting close to some good stuff. The Rip Rogers squat challenge is classic.

It's also way down the road but Tammy Sytch is absolutely brilliant in SMW.
