Seems interesting, but I'm a pretty cheap person unless I'm really feeling something. I already spend $10 a month for WWE's service and have watched part of Payback and episodes of the E&C Show in the last month. |

I'm more than 50 episodes into the run of SMW TV and have loved the majority of it... I'm struggling getting through the 5th episode of UWF's Fury Hour. On the bright side, UWF brings out the best of my "I don't give a crap" snarkiness. |

Bullet Bob takes time off to go to "Japan", and hell breaks loose. - Paul Orndorff piledrives a referee, so he's suspended indefinitely (Orndorff had given notice to leave for WCW, so this was a fine way to write him out of the promotion) - Bobby Eaton is a member of Heavenly Bodies Inc., basically doing the Freebird Rule. - Kevin Sullivan has suckered SMW into paying for his physchiatric therapy, because he hated his mother and father and all that good junk. For the sake of doing it, they do a spoof of the scene from the Shining where Jack Nicholson enters the bar and a ghost serves him a drink. Doesn't make sense here, but points for trying. Dirty White Boy helps cost Tracy Smothers his TV Title defense against the Night Stalker on what would've been his 5th and final defense for a $5,000 bonus, and post-match, cuffed him to the ropes and set his torn up confederate flag on fire. TAKE THAT! Makes you feel sorry for their runs in WWF as TL Hopper and Freddie Joe Floyd, respectively. Always good to see Rip Rogers hanging around. Feels like Ronnie Garvin has quietly been phased out of the current TV pushes, with Orndorff's departure and everyone else of note already locked up in an angle. |

FEBRUARY 27TH, 1993 (Jellico High School; Jellico, TN) 1. Killer Kyle (w/ Jim Cornette) vs. Ted Allen – Quick squash, Kyle works the entire match with his jacket and tie on. 2. Reno Riggins vs. “Hustler” Rip Rogers – 1st appearance for Rogers in quite a few months. After years of only seeing Riggins squashed on WWF TV, it feels weird to see him get significant offense. Riggins wins with a diving body press. - Bob Armstrong Interview [announces April 2nd, 1993, SMW presents the Bluegrass Brawl] - Local Promos from Tracy Smothers, The Rock N’ Roll Express - Kevin Sullivan’s Psychiatric Treatment Segment [Ink-Blot Test “comedy” with Sullivan seeing disturbing images that have something to do with babyfaces in SMW.] 3. Kevin Sullivan (w/ Night Stalker) vs. Len Fields – Sullivan completely destroys the opponent, but gets DQ’ed for throwing him over the top rope. - Kevin Sullivan and Night Stalker Interview [Sullivan challenges Lee to a “Russian Revolver” Match on March 21st in Knoxville. Whatever the hell that is. Maybe he meant Russian Roulette, so I’m assuming a form of “Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal” WCW leftovers.] - Highlights from February 22nd episode: Dirty White Boy attacks Tracy Smothers before his TV Title defense against the Night Stalker, and post-match continues the beating and sets his rebel flag on fire. - Tracy Smothers Promo [He defends the confederate flag and vows vengeance on Dirty White Boy] - Dirty White Boy and Ron Wright Interview [Bob Armstrong interrupts and announces Dirty White Boy defends the SMW Title against Tracy Smothers next week. DWB and Wright renounce the South for their support of Smothers.] 4. TV TITLE: The Night Stalker © vs. Larry Santo – Title Defense #1 for Night Stalker (but considered his 2nd of 5 matches). Complete squash, Night Stalker wins with the PowerBomb. - Brian Lee and Tim Horner Interview [More hype for March 21st.] - Rock N’ Roll Express Interview [Hype a Mystery Partner for a series of Six-Man Tags in Knoxville and Johnson City.] - Local Promos from the Dirty White Boy, Jim Cornette - Jim Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies Interview [RnR Express interrupt for an impromptu singles match.] 5. Ricky Morton vs. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) – Bob Armstrong orders the remainder of the Heavenly Bodies and Robert Gibson back to the locker room. These two could probably work a competent match together blindfolded. The Stud Stable run-in for the No Contest, attacking both men. Gibson, Lane, and Prichard return to make the save, and suddenly random jobbers show up to get thrown around. |

MARCH 6TH, 1993 (Jellico High School; Jellico, TN) - Tracy Smothers and Dirty White Boy Promos to hype today’s Main Event - Kevin Sullivan Promo on location from the Beach. He loves feeding the birds, naming them after some of his SMW rivals, and creepily approaches them with his golden spike. 1. TV TITLE: The Night Stalker vs. “White Lightning” Tim Horner – Beat The Champ Match #3 for Night Stalker. How coincidental of the Night Stalker to face Horner, Brian Lee’s buddy in his war with Kevin Sullivan. Horner finally tastes SMW Championship success, pinning Night Stalker with a sunset flip. I almost said “Gold”, but there’s no belt to represent the Championship. Sullivan runs in for a post-match beating until Brian Lee makes the save. - Local Promos from Tracy Smothers, The Rock N’ Roll Express - Tim Horner and Brian Lee Interview [Brian Lee doesn’t want to wait until March 21st. He wants some now.] 2. “Prime Time” Brian Lee (w/ Tim Horner) vs. Kevin Sullivan (w/ Night Stalker) – I love how just entering the ring draws a referee to make the match official. Lee bleeds about 30-seconds in. They take it to the floor and fight their way into the parking lot. - Bob Armstrong Interview [Announces Brian Lee accepting Sullivan’s challenge, and at Bluegrass Brawl, the Rock N’ Roll Express, Heavenly Bodies, and Stud Stable will compete in a 3-man team, three-way elimination match.] - Jim Cornette and Heavenly Bodies Interview [Promoting the 9-Man, 3-Team Street Fight] 3. Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden, Dutch Mantel vs. Len Fields, Larry Santo, Reno Riggins – Mantel is making his 1st in-ring appearance since the first few weeks of SMW’s existence. - Down and Dirty with Dutch – Immediately after the previous match conclusion. Dutch and the Stud Stable hype the Bluegrass Brawl Street Fight. 4. SMW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: The Dirty White Boy © (w/ Ron Wright) vs. Tracy Smothers – Back and forth fight with both men bleeding. White Boy distracts the referee, and suddenly the poor, crippled Ron Wright emerges from his wheelchair to deliver a cheap shot to Smothers, and jumps back in his chair before the referee could see him in the act, allowing White Boy to retain the belt. It was about time they used that scapegoat to rob a babyface from winning the Championship. I'm shocked they managed to hold off on it for this long (13 months into the promotions TV run, 7 months into White Boy's reign as Champion). - Local Promos from The Dirty White Boy, Jim Cornette - Tracy Smothers Interview [He’s kind of mad about what just happened.] |

I'm not a big fan of Michael Hayes as a singles wrestler let alone as a face singles wrestler. But I'll be damned if he didn't have a nice string of TV matches on WCW for the first couple of months of 1989. |

While writing up that World Class review, I got to thinking about Dingo/Ultimate Warrior's career. When he started his feud with Randy Savage in 1991 at the Royal Rumble, it was because he didn't want to give Macho Man a title shot (and also refused fellatio from Sherri, FWIW). Macho and Sherri has supposedly already received an agreement from Sgt. Slaughter that, if he won the title, he would give Macho Man a title shot. Which makes me wonder if Sherri had performed a similar proposition to Slaughter. So Warrior/Slaughter goes down and Savage interferes to give Slaughter the title. So...whatever became of that promised title shot? Slaughter went on to defend against Jim Duggan and Warrior, around the house show circuit during his 2.5 month reign. Was Slaughter's broken promise to Macho and Sherri ever get acknowledged? Sure, there were other plans for Macho, but he really got screwed on the Slaughter thing. |

I always assumed Savage was bluffing and Warrior didn't buy it, or that the bad blood between them that had built since Sherri slapped Warrior around on the Brother Love Show was so much that he didn't care. |

I thought that Slaughter had vocally acknowledged giving Savage the potential title shot on the Brothe Love Show or something. Of course, that would mean I'd have to sit through Slaughter's lonnnnnnng ass segments from late 1990 and I fear that. Either way, it's just silly kayfabe BS. Would've been totally in-character for Sarge to say: "sure, I'll give you a title shot. Now get on your knees, Sherri"...then re-neg and forget about the whole deal. |

Just sit back, settle in, and count how many times Sarge calls somebody "you pukes" or "you maggots". Sarge's "pukes" and "maggots" were his version of Hogan's "brother", "dude", and "man". |
