Was watching Raw from 3-15-93 and to this day i'll never understand why they would put Rob Bartlett of all people on commentary with Heenan and Monsoon. This more than ever shows why I hate 3 man announce teams as that 3rd guy is not needed at all. Rob Bartlett was so damn terrible I'm surprised he lasted three months. He's like the equivalent of Saxton today....Useless |

Saxton on Smackdown or anything but Raw is tolerable. He's clearly not allowed anything on Raw or PPV, and then EVERYONE on Raw has Vince in their ears. Rob Bartlett was an all-time WORST. Put himself over the product and made everything a joke. Not in a Bobby Heenan way, he just buried EVERYTHING. |

I definitely agree with Bartlett being the worst. He would clearly ignore the match and just bring up stuff that doesn't concern wrestling. Just terrible all around. it's another one of those ''What were they thinking?'' scenarios |

Vince probably thought his connection as a minor celebrity in the NY area would parlay into new viewers. I don't want to count how many times that stuff didn't work. Also brought in at the same time was Todd Pettengill, and while not the best, or even that good, he had good energy and tried to put everything over. Kind of like an early 90's Don West. |

Yeah Todd Pettengill was the one who replaced Sean Mooney. I was never a fan but like you said, he had good energy. I will say though I didn't mind him doing the PPV reports as he did build the angles well. He's no Mean Gene in that department but I could tolerate him atleast. The only commentary I ever recall him doing was on Action Zone with Mcmahon and then Jim Ross later on. His personality though to me never fit in the booth. In the end though I'll fondly remember him as the host of ''Mania'' and as the PPV report guy of New Generation WWF. |

His commentary was definitely his weak point, just because he was Rob Batlett'ing. He didn't know how to call matches, so he told jokes or set up punchlines for Vince. His short body of work with Ross was even worse because JR would just ignore his set ups and try and call the match. |

I was always a fan of Curt Hennig's commentary. To me he was a great heel in the booth. No matter if it was Superstars in late 91/92 or when he came back at Survivor Series 95, I enjoyed his announcing. It's a shame he died so young as I would much prefer him then JBL today. I gotta give a mention to Owen Hart as well. For his one night as a heel commentator at KOTR 96, he was gold. That's what I miss in today's wrestling a good heel announcer |

There was a trend among almost ALL announcers in the early 90's to work in cutesy little "jokes" about current events. Lorena Bobbitt, Heidi Fleiss, OJ Simpson, etc. Yes, even Jim Ross would do this. I think the trend died sometime in 1995 when ECW began to get noticed. |

Closest modern thing I can think of is Kevin Owens. He did some guest commentary spots on NXT as a full-on heel, using humor, counterpoints and his flat-out asshole-ish-ness to get things over. I think his mini program with Alex Riley was based completely around this. |

This goes back to my argument of why does there need to be 3 announcers when 2 is fine enough. Like on NXT you got Phillips and Graves imo they're far from a good team but atleast you got a face play by play guy and a heel color guy. It's been a simple concept for the longest time and yet today Mcmahon feels he need's 3 announcers when all 3 are just terrible plain and simple. JBL is supposed to be today's Heel announcer yet at MITB he was screaming what a travesty it was that the Bullet Club helped AJ win. If that was Heenan and Ventura they'd be praising it like a true heel announcer would. I just can't stand today's announcing and quite frankly it will never get any better |

Demolition's heel turn after WM 6 was really random. They interfered in the Harts/Rockers match on SNME but I can't pin point the exact turn. They were still over as faces so I was surprised when they turned them heel out of nowhere. Then Crush came in and that was the beginning of the end of my favorite team sadly. |

I think the interview where they introduced Crush was probably the closest thing. Jesse Ventura was pumping them up, again, and Smash hollered something like: "and we don't need these stinkin' people"! The Harts/Demos/Rockers thing was a fun 3-way face feud. They had just run with the popular Hogan/Warrior face feud, so why not do it with the tag teams? The July 1990 SNME is when the Rockers dropped out of it, though. The arrival of the Road ...errrr... the Legion of Doom in June also pushed the Rockers down quite a bit. |

I really wish they would of did a proper Demolition vs LOD feud. No Crush involved, just Ax/Smash against Hawk/Animal. But the best we got was that 6 man tag from Supertape 3 I believe with Warrior involved. Then Ax left after Survivor Series 90 and after that Demolition was done. What could of been.... |

The timing for the LOD's arrival was unexpected and sudden. They came into the WWF in late June 1990, almost overnight. At that time, the big 3-way tag title feud was going on and Crush had just debuted. So they had to scramble and reset/re-think things a little bit-- "whoa! We can bring in the LOD now?! Yes, do it! Do it!" If the LOD had come in at a different time and the WWF had been prepared for it, yes, we would've gotten a proper LOD/Demolition feud. They had a similar situation, about a month later, when Kerry Von Erich suddenly became available. He also came in, overnight, and there wasn't a build for his arrival. Both Kerry and LOD hit the ground running. The WWF's usual formula was to do a slow build and run some vignettes for their debuting characters-- like they did with "Drill" Sgt. Slaughter at the exact same time. |

I can always dream of my favorite factions, Hart Foundation from 1997 working a program with the Four Horsemen from 1995-1996. Multiple possibilities along with DX and NWO. |
