Hmm... as far as WWE goes, ones that stand out: the infamous San Juan, Puerto Rico event from 10-19-85. Even without the rain, that show was garbage. I never recapped it, but the Spectrum card from 12-88 headlined by Andre/Jake was absolutely putrid. I have it on a DVD somewhere, but I don't have the nerve to do it. The 3-19-90 MSG card is easily the worst MSG show I've ever seen. Almost nothing but under-card crap, including: Jimmy Powers v. Mike Sharpe, Hercules v. Black Bart, Koko B. Ware v. Frenchy Martin, Tugboat v. Pez Whatley. Yes, this was MARCH. 1990. The only good match was Bret vs. Martel. Earthquake v. Duggan sucked, Demolition v. Orient Express sucked, Warrior v. Perfect was meh. All of this doesn't even come close to Heroes of Wrestling or I-Generation Wrestling (headlined by Dennis Rodman vs. Curt Hennig). |

I got a ton of 80's/early 90s House Shows myself in my collection. Here and there you'll find a few gems but yeah many of em are tough to sit through. I haven't pull them out in a long time but I really have no desire to. Heroes Of Wrestling I remember watching it live and damn 17 years later it's still an abomination of a show. And to think they wanted Gordon Solie to call it. And on top of it they had plans for other shows. |

Had they presented the evening as a novelty "respect the legends" night, it could've been more watchable (note I didn't say good) with short matches and nostalgia spots (see: 6:05 the Legends Reunion a few years later). The biggest issues, beyond the poor production values and lack of an experienced PBP man, is that all the matches were treated as serious competitions, and for the love of God, a lot of those men were decades past the point of expiration, and this went on for 2 1/2 hours. That's not even getting into the sad saga of Jake Roberts. Any time I hear someone call an average show "one of the worst they've ever seen", they clearly haven't seen something like Heroes of Wrestling. |

I really felt bad for Dutch Mantel. For over 2 hours he had to keep his sanity instact with a guy who constantly called moves wrong and was not knowledgeable about Wrestling at all like you said. I remember being excited for it since it evolved around the legends but nothing on that show is watchable at all. And to let Jake go out there when he's clearly in terrible shape is a disgrace. |

I feel bad that Dutch Mantel's legacy in the eyes of WWE is as a shitty gimmick manager of the Blu Twins and a Stan Hansen wanna-be and then two decades later as the xenophobic mouth piece of Jack Swagger (to be fair, he was at least allowed to cut some good promos here) and the MexAmerica crap. |

All these years later I still laugh at Saba Simba's debut. Piper just completely buries it on air. Mcmahon tries to cover it up by saying he went back to his roots but Piper still bashes the gimmick. And is it me or does his theme song sound like Santana's theme with just jungle beats and lion roars in it? |

The gimmick really was that he was Tony Atlas and he went back to his roots, but Piper definitely buried it by not taking him seriously. Still would've been terrible, not to mention Atlas was ass in the ring. |

Piper was known to bury gimmicks on air like that. Like when Steamboat returned in 91. Going through Superstars from the fall of 90, Piper once in a while shows his heel side by criticizing the faces. Most of the time he's babyface but every now and then you get a hint of old heel Hot Rod. I watched today the episode where Martel blinds Jake on the Brother Love show and I gotta say I enjoyed this angle. The blindfold match at WM 7 was shit but the build to it was very good. |

In terms of Nostalgia, what is the better album The Wrestling Album or ''Piledriver'' The Wrestling Album 2? |

I prefer Piledriver, but I also find a lot of the songs on it surprisingly decent for wrestling music compared to the stuff on the 1st album. |

I gotta agree Piledriver had better songs and believe it or not I didn't mind Girls in Cars by Robbie Dupree. It's so corny but hey it was the 80s. The 1st album though wasn't bad either though with Piper's ''For Everybody'' being my favorite. And it's been nearly 30 years and they still haven't released the 2nd album on CD!! |

"The Wrestling Album" was more like a (failed) Cheech & Chong comedy album, with the running commentary between the tracks. "Captain Lou's History of Music" and Mean Gene's "Tutti Frutti" were just silly. It's a better time capsule of 1985 WWF, whereas "Piledriver" was based around the music itself. I never understood who the "Mona Flamboyant" was that Jesse referred to. I finally got that "Mona Flambe" was Cyndi Lauper's alter ego, in the past few years. A little surprised they didn't do the running commentary for "Piledriver". Heck, imagine Gorilla and the Brain doing little intros for each song ("I understand that Rick Derringer has become much more devious since working with one Mr. Fuji on this Demolition song...") It's odd that they're only 2 years apart, but they seem like completely different eras. But, man, when I finally tracked down "Piledriver" in 1989, I was bummed that it didn't have Ultimate Warrior's music! |

Watching the 1st WWE Draft, the March 25th, 2002 episode of Raw... wow, and people complained about the split rosters now? Raw's top 5 (including the fact one pick accounted for three): The Undertaker, n.W.o. (Nash, Hall, X-Pac), and Kane. When Kane is far and away the best worker of the bunch at the time, well, the roster is weak. Edit: Just a few picks later, we've got Big Show to add to the collection of suck. |
