When "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff wrestles in his homeland of Russia... wouldn't he just be "The Bear"?

"The Bear" Ivan Koloff doesn't seem too threatening. At least Nikita can be called The Nightmare.

I forgot all about Dave Taylor being brought in to team with William Regal. 2005-07 is a huge blur at times before I dropped out of following the product.

When they first brought up McIntyre, he was teaming with Taylor

They sent him back Dow to developmental shortly thereafter

I'm watching some brand split Smackdown from 2002. To hype Backlash, they're saying Triple H IDOLIZED Hulk Hogan growing up...

I've been watching episodes of Metal leading into the show and they keep hammering it home. When it happened in 2002, they did a promo with HHH saying it, and even 16 year old me knew he was full of shit and it wasn't a believable promo.

Watching the "WCW" Booker T vs. Buff Bagwell match. Scott Hudson and Arn Anderson calling the match, Nick Patrick as referee, Stacy Keibler as the ring announcer, and a crowd that didn't want to give a shit. The match isn't the drizzling shits, but it wasn't good either. It didn't matter, this was a WWF audience, and they dumped on it from the opening bell.

This was the same time they kept pushing Undertaker despite the crowds not giving a shit. It was originally going to be HHH/Taker but the one segment they did died so horribly they panicked. And then went right back to Undertaker for Hogan. I think if they had done Hogan vs. anyone else that his reign would have gone a little better.

I thought it was dumb to waste Jericho for a random episode of Smackdown instead of building it for Judgment Day, but dammit, they HAD to keep HHH/Jericho going, and a match that ended up ruining Tim White's career. It wasn't anywhere near classic, but Jericho carried Hogan to a very watchable match that wasn't all smoke and mirrors.

15 years ago the WWF were forced to change their name to WWE.

It honestly took me years to get comfortable saying "WWE".

The match wasn't as bad as most made it out to be

If I remember correctly they only each had one match on the house show tour before the nitro match. So they both had ring rust

Booker was a good worker. Bagwell was so so
Should have had booker against someone else like Lance Storm

I think Vince wanted them to fail

Should've had the first WCW match in a southern town as well

I've had a lot of free time this week (vacation from work), so I've watched a lot of wrestling and listened to some podcasts, notably ones featuring Tony Schiavone and Bruce Prichard on MLW radio.

Prichard isn't a bad podcast co-host, but he seems to be working at times and almost always disputes anything mentioned by Dave Meltzer. Schiavone, at times, does question what is written, but does agree at times, mostly at how poorly ran the company was behind the scenes, and sounds like he's having fun talking about WCW's past, while Prichard at times seems less motivated.

Another random comment since I'm apparently suffering from ADD lately...

WCW produced a lot of TV over the years. I'm watching stuff from 1995 and they did tapings for so many shows it's easy to lose track of them. You had Saturday Night, Pro, Worldwide, Main Event, and even a C-level show like Prime. Maybe others, but fuck if I can remember. The point of my comment is that they give away SO MUCH on free TV. Top guys are constantly in featured matches, and sometimes matches are recycled from different shows, but presented as "now". It's a mess to keep track of for someone like me who catalogs everything chronologically.
