Nothing new going on for the Orioles, other than Dan Duquette taking the GM job.

It's a clean sweep to, also to the surprise of no one. Hellickson (yay) and Kimbrel take home of the ROTY awards, my personal choices. Hellickson or Nova seemed like a lock to the AL. I'm glad it went to a Ray of course. :P

Edit: San Diego is lighting it up on the free agent market. It's been reported they've come to an agreement with none other than Mark Kotsay. Anyone else smelling pennant fever in San Diego?

The O's are gonna sport some "new" threads this coming season. Wearing orange jerseys for some home games, and the cartoon bird is gonna be on their hats.

The Reds have shelved plans for Aroldis Chapman to start games in winter ball. However, the club still expects to go forward with Chapman's transition to become a starting pitcher.

Chapman pitched 2 2/3 innings in the Arizona Fall League before he came down with left shoulder inflammation. A planned start on Oct. 31 was scratched, and the left-hander has not pitched since.

The Reds have decided that Chapman will skip winter ball and not pitch in games again until Spring Training.

Not that I'm blaming Dusty Baker or anything, but this is already the second time he's had shoulder issues, and that's almost exclusively from short relief appearances. I can't possibly see him making a transition to a starting role without blowing his arm out. again.

Not that they're the only ones who have thought this, but The onion called Chapman's case back in January 2010.

"New" (In quotes) is absolutely correct for the O's. Didn't they have the cartoon bird on their hats in the late 70's/early 80's? I've always liked that logo and I'm not a fan of their "serious" bird or the plain orange/black "O's" lid.

Pirates sign Erik Bedard and NATE MCLOUTH to one-year deals.

Bedard was kind of a big deal about two years ago; could be like their Kevin Correia signing from last year. As for McLouth, why not? His signing has the added bonus of fan support, as he was a pretty big fan favorite before he was shipped off to Atlanta. He virtually disappeared from Atlanta once they brought over Michael Bourn, last season.

And I'd say the Rockies are officially in REBUILD mode. They've shipped off Chris Iannetta and Huston Street in the past week. Both are on middle of their careers and are probably as good they're going to get.

Bedard, at least while with Baltimore, had some filthy stuff. If he's over the injury bug that's plagued him the last few seasons, he could be a big under-the-radar signing, especially in the NL.

So Pujols signs with the Angels, after most of the "Hot Stove" reports linking him either to the Cards or, until last night, the Marlins. I don't know, I feel a little hurt by this, despite not being a Cardinals fan. I thought for sure he would stay in St. Louis for his entire career, but I guess not. I'm just glad he didn't go to one of the typical "money market" teams, like the Sawx or Cubs.

Probably the Angels' biggest signing since then snuck in and grabbed Vladimir Guerrero, circa 2004. I think the Cubs and the Yankees were also in the running, back then.

Really sucks for the Cardinals and their fans, as their lineup loses a lot without Pujols in it. Immediate question: who plays first? Lance Berkman?

I think that deal for Pujols is insane. The Angels are going to be paying him huge and he's already in decline. They could be in a position where they would be on the hook for another 7 years and they won't be able to trade him.

I didn't realize Pujols is already 32, but then again, he has been in the Majors since 2001. 10 years, even in the AL, is a huge risk, no matter how awesome you are. Look at A-Rod. He's already in a serious decline from his prime, and he's got like 6-7 years left on his contract.

With bookkeeping and the way teams mess with numbers, it's entirely possible that Pujols is not playing for the Angels after X amount of years. Usually a 3-team trade helps to get something like that off the books (or at least spreads the financial damage out).

Rockies shipped off Casey Weathers and Ian Stewart to the Cubs for Tyler Colvin and DJ Matheu. They've been trying to move Stewart all year long, so it's not surprising that they had to do it in a package deal. Stewart was a pretty big boost for the Rockies in 2009 (and a good part of 2008), but his career's gone south ever since.

With the way they've been moving some of these guys they were once big on, I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Dexter Fowler or Aaron Cook is shipped off, as well. No big loss on all their trades (except for Ubaldo Jimenez back in July-- that was a horrible move, reminiscent of Dave Littlefield and the Pirates).
