Fausto Carmona got arrested in the Dominican Republic today for false ID. Guess what? He's 31, not 28.

I think that story should make the Angels nervous. There are people in the know that speculate that Pujols might actually be 34 instead of 32.

I think a 10 year deal for a 32 year old was bad enough... I can't imagine if he too has been lying about his age. Correction, a 10 year deal, period, no matter what, for that kind of money, is stupid. It's way too soon to speculate, but I can easily see the Angels doing a firesale in the second half of that contract.

On Rays related news, they re-signed Carlos Pena to a 1 year, 7 mil. deal... WHY!?!?! I loved Carlos when he was a Ray, and he did have some big hits and a good glive, but that much when they only have so much to spend? He's got way more thump than Kotchman did, but his OBP is very average, and he strikes out way too much.

Pujols has a no trade clause in that deal. They're stuck with him for all 10 years unless they just buy the deal out.

The Pena deal isn't so bad. He can DH and play 1B here and there as needed. It gives them some pop in the lineup and throwing 7 million at him for a year isn't breaking the bank.

I might be crazy but I think the Rangers are still better than the Angels. If Yu Darvish is strong then I doubt they'll miss C.J. Wilson much, especially if Darvish doesn't fall apart towards the end of the season.

I know Pujols contract has a solid no-trade, but will the Angels be willing to spend more on high level free agents within that span? That's what I was going for. Honestly, I don't know the Angels history of spending as well as East Coast teams, but on top of Pujols, and a lesser degree Wilson, they also have a lot of money invested in Jered Weaver, and they have some good, young talent that I'm sure will be making considerable money within the next few seasons as well.

Manny Ramirez is turning the heads of at least a few teams as the outfielder looks to return to Major League Baseball, but no club is more interested in the 12-time All-Star than the A's, according to a report by ESPN.

WHY?!?!?! Oakland traded away everything but the locker room plumbing, and are possibly willing to sign Manny, a headache to everyone and someone who has to serve a suspension if he's signed for being caught cheating a second time? I guess someone has to be on the team fans are willing to spend money to watch, even if it's for the wrong reasons.

Manny is a problem waiting to happen. How soon that problem happens is flexible.

At best, he goes without trouble for five months and some writer pens a sappy column about how he's "been a help to younger players and a big boost to [insert team name here]".

At worst, he completely screws up in Spring Training or April and never makes it to June.

In other news, the Rockies fell in love with Marco Scutaro and are convinced he's their 2B for 2012. They acquired him a in a trade for Clayton Mortensen.

Not a guarantee of a roster spot, but the Rockies invited Jamie Moyer; all 49 years of him; to spring training on a minor league deal. I suspect that they may be angling to bring him into the organization as a coach, consultant or something.

But it wouldn't be all that surprising if Moyer makes the roster, or the Triple-A Sky Sox rotation.

I'm getting the MLB.tv package for my PS3. I've also scheduled to have opening day off from work and I plan to just gorge myself on baseball that day.

I've had it when they've run free promos in the past. It's great and blows the pants off of "MLB Extra Innings". The interface for PS3 is a little cloogy at first, but it's VERY cool how it archives every televised game.

So it's not just live games, you can go back and watch previous games at any time. In 2010, I went back and watched Ubaldo Jimenez's April no-hitter, sometime in July. They don't really play that up and I think it's the best feature.

If you have cable or satellite, "MLB Extra Innings" (not "MLB.tv") is usually free that first week, anyways.

The MLB.tv package looks great on the PS3. Really good quality. Cost me $125 for the season which is a good deal.

I'm getting MLB.tv this year, too. I found out that East TN is in the Reds blackout area, oddly enough. So I won't get all the Reds games. Will get all the Red Sox games, though

I hate the blackout policy for one solid reason.... if you have it on MLB.com, and your cable goes out, you're fucked from watching your team's live game because of it. It happened to me at least once last season, and it's just stupid. Oh, and I missed Game 162 because I had to work, and oh yeah, BLACKED OUT.
