Since no one started a NBA thread for the current season, now that the lockout is over. Figured I would start one

While I see how Tyson chandler will help the Knicks as he is a very good rebounder and a great defender (two things the Knicks need help with especially defense), he was not worth the money they are giving him (4 years $56million)
On paper it does give the Knicks the best front court in the NBA (Chandler C, Amare Stoudemire at PF, and Carmelo Anthony at SF)

Of course, the only NBA-related story that 's come across the news in Denver is "Chauncey Billups was released by the Knicks . Will the Nuggets pick him up?!" Seriously, that was the topic of discussion on several radio stations.

Not a word has been spoken since the Clippers claimed Billups.

Nene resigning with the Nuggets $67 million over 5 years is another example of overpaying for a big man

He is very talented but also injury prone. But after the Anthony trade last year, he is probably their best player, so it was smart for them to re-sign him

Brook Lopez busted his foot, so he's out till mid-February

Nets are my favorite team (makes me in the minority in NYC as almost everyone else is a Knicks fan) and this hurts them partly because he is their 2nd best player and also he was the centerpiece of the potential trade for Dwight Howard

Been trying to keep up with the NBA, and as usual, the Knicks are "meh".

One story that sticks out is about the Wizards, with a record of something like 1-11 or 1-12. One of their young stars, JaVale McGee, did a showboating dunk, and was benched for it, in another loss. After the game, he didn't understand the benching, and said "I didn't know it's wrong to do that when your 1-11". I'm sorry, but you have nothing to showboat about when your team sucks so bad, and someone really needs to grow up and look at the bigger picture.

Bye bye D'Antoni. Knicks have had an up and down season.

D'Antoni hasn't done much for the 3+ or so years he's been around, but 2 of those were wash years, waiting for Carmelo... and then they traded half the team away to get him, leaving Amare' and Carmelo and the rest. You can't build a championship team around 2 upper-level players and a bunch of scraps. The building of the Knicks is like a kid building a team in a video game, signing two names for the sake of their availability, and leaving the rest of the team boned.

Linsanity is over, the Knicks are back to being under-achieving schmucks. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
