WCW Monday Nitro - June 10th 2000 The Sunday prior to this Nitro Booker T won his first WCW World Championship by defeating Jeff Jarrett at Bash at the Beach. The Franchise (Shane Douglas) vs Crowbar What sort of name is Crowbar. To make matters worse before the match stars he just runs around taking bumps. Must have forgot I was watching WCW from 2000. This match starts off with both men exchanging pins and a slingshot crossbody to the floor from Crowbar. Franchise then hits a snap suplex and Crowbar hits a Northern Lights suplex for two. Crowbar then hits a back body drop over the top rope and launches him into the barricade. He then conects with several chops and hits a slingshot flip into the ring. The Franchise then hits a Russian Leg Sweep and then hits The Franchiser to get the win. * Kidman vs Jeff Jarrett This match starts off with a headscissors from Kidman and Jarrett hip tosses Kidman all the way over the top, to the floor in what was a painfull looking spot. Jeff then throws him into the barricade and Kidman hits a dropkick. He then conects with a victory roll but only gets two and Kidman then hits a crossbody of the top for two. He then hits a BK Bomb and a clothesline over the top rope. Jeff then hits The Stroke to get the win. So disapointing one of the only matches on that show that looked good was just average. * WCW World Heaviweight Championship - Booker T vs Mike Awsome Why is this for the World Championship? Not only did Awsome not win a match to get it, it isn't even the main event. This championship match starts off with a spin kick from Booker and a kick. He then conects with several kicks in the corner and Awsome hits a no pun intended awsome clothesline. He then hits him with a chair, really? Since when was this match a no DQ match, so frustrating watching a company kill them selves. Awsome then hits a Alabama slam and a frog splash of the top but only gets two. Booker then clotheslines Awsome of the apron sending him through the table. Booker then hits the scissors kick and a spinebuster. He then conects with a dropkick of the top and hits the Bookend to get the win. ** WCW Hardcore Championship - Big Vito vs Norman Smiley I know the WWF Hardcore Championship wasn't anything beatifull but the WCW Hardcore title is absolutly horrific. Vito starts things off by hitting him with a kindo stick and Smiley hits him with a chair. Smiley launches him at a door and sprays him with a fire estinguisher. Vito then hits a superkick and then hits Ralfus with crutches. This is so bad. He then hits a splash of the top sending Ralfus through a table. Smiley then hits him with a chair and Vito lands on Ralfus to cover him to get the win. Just boring. DUD. Number one contenders match for the WCW World Championship - Jeff Jarrett vs Kanyon vs Scott Steiner vs Goldberg This main event match starts off with chops in the corner by Steiner and a clothesline. He then hits a gorrila press and then launches him into the barricade. Steiner then hits him with a chair and again it wasn't said at any point that this is a no DQ match. He then hits a belly to belly suplex and Goldberg hits a big boot. Kanyon hits a nice sit down Alabama slam and Steiner hits a tilt the world slam. He then hits a t-bone suplex and Kanyon hits a neckbraker. Kanyon then hits the Kanyon Cutter and Goldberg hits a crazy spear. He then hits a Jackhammer for two and he then brawls with Steiner and Jeff covers him to get the win. *1/2 Overal - 3/10 |

-Jarrett covered Goldberg to get the pin? -Booker T vs. Mike Awesome is not the main event because it did not feature Goldberg, so there ya' go. They were setting Booker up to be a fighting champ, so there's that for ya', too. -If this is the first Nitro since Booker won the belt, did this broadcast have this "acceptance speech" promo? I remember that was a definite Nitro and WCW highlight for 2000. And yeah, if it his first Nitro, that'd also explain why the newly crowned "fighting champ" wasn't in the main event, since he only won the belt less than 24 hours ago. Typical old-school reasoning is "this match was signed before (name of wrestler) won the belt". If the wrestler is a face, he usually put the belt on the line. If a dastardly heel, he doesn't. -Crowbar was a guilty pleasure of mine. No problems with the name. Better than "Dangerous Devon Storm", the name he used in his sole WCW Nitro appearance in 1996. I enjoyed his enthusiasm and he was much more watchable as a singles guy than as David Flair's lackey. Crowbar was also the name of a Beavis-and-Butthead loved band, circa 1993. "Those two fat dudes from Crowbar need to come in and mess up this video! That'd be cool" |

Man, as much as I despised WCW in 2000, their undercard was FULL of guilty pleasures. The Natural Born Thrillers, Mamalukes, Kronik, 3 Count, 13 year old looking Rey Mysterio Jr, Lance Storm's Team Canada, "Positively" Kanyon, Insane Clown Posse's hilariously awful run, Great Muta in the Dark Carnival, the list is endless. |

This may be the first time I've heard anything positive about Insane Clown Posse's WCW run. Even as a "guilty pleasure". I was still primarily WCW at the time, but I did like: Sting vs. Vampiro, Goldberg in any form, Team Canada, Kronik, Chris "Hard Knocks" Candido, Mike Sanders, Norman Smiley and Booker's push. Then Miss Hancock, of course. The stuff that I didn't care for that seemed to bog my interest down was: Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, DDP, Buff Bagwell and Mike Awesome's continued push (with 3 different gimmicks). Then the obvious nonsense, like RnB Security, David Arquette, the worthless lump known as Major Gunns, etc. One thing's that grown on me, over time, is The Cat and the Jung Dragons. Those sketches crap me up, nowadays. |

How can anyone not love Mike Awesome powerbombing both members of ICP on the top of his party bus? |

What about Kwee Wee? Do not make the Kwee Wee angry by forgetting him. I liked Chris "Champagne" Kanyon more than Positively Kanyon but I think that was 99 not 2000 Tank Abbott was another. The MiA (lt. Loco, Major Stash, Cpl. Cajun and General Hugh G. Rection, and later A-Wall) Or the Maestro? David Flair? The Artist Formerly known as Prince Iaokea? One thing about Russo, he did try to make the undercard guys relevant. May have been some crappy gimmicks, but he tried. |

I know I am older than pretty much everyone on here, but you were 5 years old when it closed? Damn I was 31 when WCW went under. It's cool though that you watched some of the late WCW stuff. |

Yeah i am currently only 17 and have so much history of pro Wrestling to watch. I am all up to date on everything WWE but wanted to see what WCW was like in 2000/2001 and i can see why people call TNA > WCW in 2000. |

Whoa, you were at MSG for that show?! Hot damn. After Sheik's win, was the crowd really as stunned as they seemed in the broadcast? |
