TNA IMPACT - January 21st 2005
From Orlando, Florida

The show starts off with pyro! Pyro in TNA in 2005! They barely have it now that they are a international company but hey who cares its only TNA. Also, I am not one of those guys who sits and says if TNA brings back the six sided ring that TNA will be saved, but I do think that it was a bad decision getting rid of it because the whole concept of TNA was to be different to the WWE, but now it is a poor mans version of WWE. Before the in-ring action starts there is a clip of a confrence between Kevin Nash, Jeff Jarrett and DDP envolving there triple threat elimination match at the upcoming Against All Odds pay per view.

Buck Quatermain vs Christopher Daniels

This is the first of two apearences for one Christopher Daniels on this show and I wonder who will win this one. Also, what a horrible name Buck Quatermain who ever made that one up should be shot. This squash match starts off with a scoop slam from Buck and a float over suplex. Daniels then hits a enzigury and a STO. He then hits a Cross Rhodes to get the win, to everyones complete shock. Strange didn't he have the BME back in 2005. 1/2*

Lex Lovett vs Jeff Hardy

Again, this is a main event star vs a jobber, this feels like I'm watching a episode of WWF back in the early 80's. Hardy starts things off with a reverse STO and a Twist Of Fate. He then hits a Swanton Bomb to get the win. Oh dear this is conolete garbage. DUD

Cassidy Riley vs Raven

Ergh, for the third straight match it's jobber vs main event star, well if you call Raven a main event star. Raven starts things off wit strikes in the corner and a absolutly awful looking bulldog of the top. Mike Tenay and DW said that it was a knee to the back of the head of the top, it looked that bad. Speaking of the commentators I much prefer Don West to Taz, you can just hear with the tone of the voice that DW is extremly passionate about TNA. Raven aplies a Ankle Lock and hits a DDT to get the win and nearly make me turn the television of. DUD

Christopher Daniels vs AJ Styles (X Division Champion)

Finally, in the main event we get two main event wrestlers wrestling. AJ won the title four days before this at Final Resolution in a classic ultimate x match. This main event starts off with some chain wrestling and a dropdown leapfrog into a dropkick sequence from AJ. Daniels then launches him into the guard rail and hits a backbraker on the floor. Daniels then makes me want to commite suicide by aplying a chinlock, I know the wrestlers have to rest during a match but the match has a friking ten minute time limit. Daniels then hits a slingshot elbow drop and then hits a scoop slam. He then hits a nice springboard moonsault and aplirs the crossface but AJ gets to the ropes. AJ then hits a enzigury and two clotheslines. He then hits a spinning heel kick and a springboard forearm for two. AJ then hits a springboard moonsault into a reverse DDT and Daniels hits a lovely spining belly to back suplex for two. AJ then hits a discuss clothesline and tries to roll him up but only gets two. The time limit expired which means this match ended in a draw. A crap finish to end a crap show. **

overal - 2/10

This show was so close to being a 0/10. Words don't describe how completly garbage this show. This is a must avoid!

First off, you're improving in your reviews.

But you should really look at the context of the show and where TNA was at the time. That'd answer some of your questions and/or gripes.

Unless I'm mistaken, this was when TNA was on FOX and the time limit was something they'd always promote. It made sense given the one-hour time constraints and played into the "Fox Box" crawl at the top of the screen. At first, you'd think: "uhh, why does a wrestling match have a 'score' at the top?", but that thing proved to be a nice upgrade. Not only could you instantly tell who was wrestling, but how much time was left. For once, it made the usually boring "time limit draw" seem interesting.

TNA's roster was fairly small at the time, so they couldn't stuff a one-hour free weekly show full of their top-level guys. It wasn't until they went to SPIKE in September 2005 that they made an effort to bulk up the roster.

Yes, Daniels did have the "BME" then, but it was one of his signature moves, not his finisher. Think Rey Mysterio and "619". Wasn't Daniels' finisher called "The Angel's Wings"?
