WWE RAW June 2nd 1997
Live from Hunington, WV

The show starts off with The Undertaker making his way to the ring. He says that the only reason he has joined forces with Paul Bearer again is because he has been black mailed and he is doing it to protect the ones he loves. The thing with this promo is that the Undertakers theme song has been playing all the way though and its so annoying because you are just waiting for it to stop and it god dam doesn't. The key to this promo so far is that he is still babyface. Bearer comea out and says that Taker must do what he says and Sycho Sid comes out and this is his first TV apearence since there awful match at Wrestlemania 13. He bores me for five minutes by talking utter crap, until he finally gets to the point and says he wants his rematch for the WWF title tonight. Farooq then comes out and says this time next week he will be champion because of his match with Undertaker this Sunday at the King Of The Ring pay per view.

Ahmed Johnsin vs Farooq

Well if this isn't a step down from doing a promo with Undertaker, I don't know what is. Johnson looks blown up before he gets to the ring and he hits a clothesline and hits him with Farooqs belt. Am I watching WCW? Why isn't that a disqualificaton? Ahmed then hits two clotheslines and launches him I to the steel steps. He then shows the only bit of athletisism I have seen him do and that's a awfull bicycle kick and follows that up with a spinebuster. The Nation Of Domination then get beaten down by Ahmed and if you were a casual fan watching this one, you wouldn't think that Farooq is the number one contender for the world Championship because this has been a squash. Farooq and Undertaker then brawl and Farooq then simply covers Johnson to get the win. Taker then chokeslam Johnson for being a terrible wrestler. 1/2

Intercontinental Championship match
Owen Hart vs Bob Holly

I know, you just did what I did when I saw the match and that's laughing at Bob Holly in a high proffile championship match, no wonder why WCW was kicking there ass. Owen starts us off with a shoulder block and to my suprise holly nails a nice hurricanrana! holly hits a powerslam, but Owen stops his momentum with a belly to belly suplex. Owen conects with a spining heel kick and a backbreaker. Hart conects with strikes and a dropkick. Prity basic match at this moment in time and loving the way how Owen has had most of the offense. Hart is back on the attack and hits a atomoc drop and a clothesline for two. He then hits a neckbraker and Holly does a backslide and thankfully only gets a two count. just imagine if Bob Holly won the Intercontinental championship. Hart hits a nice powerbomb and then aplies the Sharpshooter to get the win. *1/2

Number one contenders match for Europeon Championship
hunter Heart Helmsley vs Goldust

In the year 1997 this was a nice little rivalry with matches happening on big shows such as Royal Rumble and the ever so poor Wrestlemania 13. Goldust starts this match off with strikes and a clothesline. He conects with more strikes in the corner and hits another clothesline. hunter, sorry just seems strange calling him that, hits a high running knee and chops. He then throws Goldust hard into the buckle and then Hunter accidentally hits China, which lets Goldust roll him up to get the win and recieves a championship match next week on RAW. Stupid, why not have the match on the King Of The Ring Pay Per View this Sunday. 3/4*

Tag Team championship Match
Stone Cold and Shawn michaels vs Legion Of doom

The Tag Team champions Austin and Michaels have agreed to have a match at King of the Ring and now must defend there titles against Legion Of Doom. In my opinion, LOD were better both before there run in 1997 and after when they came back at Wrestlemania 14. This championship match starts off with a shoulder block from hawk and a gorrila press from Hawk. Hawk then misses a splash of the top and all four men brawl in the ring. When i was watching this, i thought that this match was going to end because of the fact that there was brawling like at the end of a standard tag team match. Animal hits a nice powerslam and Hawk clotheslines HBK over the top rope and Michaels over sells and makes the move look goofy. Hart foundation come to ringside and Animal nails a flying shoulder tackle. This is the funny part and thats that the ref sends The Hart Foundation get sent to the back, why bring them out in the first place!  Hawk hits a back body drop and Hawk and Austin colide with a double clothesline. Austin hits a dropkick and conects with punches in the corner. Shawn hits a clothesline and then Michaels and Austin brawl and then the bloody ref rings the bell. WHY?They also made the Hart Foundation come to the ring, only to be sent straight back to the locker room! *1/2

King Of The Ring Qualifying match
Mankind Vs Savio Vega

Jerry Lawler comes to do commentary for this match because hes facing the winner of this match at King Of The Ring. Mankind starts things off with a baseball slide and vega hits a back body drop on the ramp! Savio then hits a awsome crossbody of the top to the floor and conects with a nasty kick to the head. He then hits a lovely spining heel kick in the corner and my god i am actualy loving Savio Vega! Mankind stops Savios momentum by hiting a belly to back suplex and conecting with the Cactus Clothesline over the top rope. Crush then accidentally knocks out Vega and Mankind covers him to get the win and advance to the semi finals of the King of The Ring tourniment. *1/2

WWF Championship match
The Undertaker vs Sycho Sid

If this match is as good as there Wrestlemania match, you know this is easily going to be at least four stars. (sarcasm) sid starts this main event championship match of with strikes and a chokeslam. The pace of this match is so slow and i just want to turn the bloody thing of. Sid puts a thumb to the eye and nails another chokeslam but only gets a two count. Taker finally gets some offense in, with punches in the corner and Sid hits with more strikes. Umdertaker hits a clothesline and a Tombstone to get the win. Oh well at least it was short and to the point. The Nation of Domination then come to the ring and beat down the Undertaker until Sid makes the save and The Natipn beat him down aswell. Good way to end the show as it makes the Nation look strong not just four jobbers. *1/2

Overal - 4.5/10

This Raw was a very lackluster show with a couple of good matches. Nothing stands out and 17 years later if i didnt watch the actuall show, i wouldnt have known anything that happens, unlikr the attitude era Raws during 1998/1999.

There was a time when I'd assumed that Bob Holly had the held the IC title at one point or another, but nope. It was when I was 14 and other contemporary IC champions included Godfather, porn star Val Venis, Road Dogg, and D'Lo Brown.

Nothing wrong with working stiff. I love the shit out of Dr. Death Steve Williams and he routinely dropped people on their heads.

Holly defeated Double J in an IC Title Match, but it was held up under oddball circumstances (double pin?) and lost the rematch. Don't know if it ever counted as an official title reign or not. They did the same with Savio and Goldust in 1996.

i meant stiff strikes, which he only started doing in his last and terrible stint in the WWE. Plus he goes on shoot video saying he would kill mr kennedy/Anderson (RF VIDEO) plus he thinks hes god because he made a book that no one has read. Hes the only wrestler, other than Zack Ryder that i passionatly hate

I actually read Holly's book and would highly recommend it. Whether you like him or not, the book is how he honestly see things and he was in WWE for a good long while so he got to see and experience a lot. I used to think Holly was one of the biggest jerks in wrestling, but his interviews on the PWTorch Livecast and his book have brought me around to thinking he's just 60% a jerk, haha.

In fairness, he was referring to Mr. Anderson, who I'd kind of like to kill too :-P

I'm kidding, but Mr. Anderson is pretty obnoxious. He also has a reputation for being dangerous to work with, right before he was fired from WWE, Randy Orton chewed him out in the locker room for almost breaking his neck.

Hey, about Hardcore Holly beating Owen Hart and possibly winning the I.C. title; Don't forget, in his "Sparky Plug" days (ugh) Holly actually pinned Owen Hart clean in a good match on an episode of RAW.

Stranger things have happened. In fairness, Holly would have been a fine Intercontinental champion for the time. With contemporaries like Val Venis, The Godfather, and D'Lo Brown, he would have fit right in.

Personally, I'm still pissed Gangrel never got an Intercontinental Title run.
What "World of Warcraft" players see when they're not playing.....

I'm pissed Gangrel never got ANY run. Not even European or Hardcore. His entrance alone made him more over than most other midcarders.
