WWE Main Event - July 1st 2014 Live from Newark, NJ We are live on the WWE Network or a streaming service for International readers and the show starts off with Cesaro and Paul Heyman already in the ring. Heyman says that tonights match with Dolph Zoggler is now cancelled and he also blames Kofi Kingston because Cesaro and Kofi had a match on this past weeks episode of Monday Night RAW. Ziggler interupts Heyman and he goes through all of his own accomplishments and claims that Cesaro has had none of them. Big E decides to come out and he goes on to say that he will be the one who will win the Intercontinental Championship at the upcoming Battleground Pay Per View. Rybaxel comes out and they both enter themselves into the battle royal, which leads to Rob Van Dam coming out. All six men brawl to end the segment and just after the commercial break we now know that it will be RVD, Dolph Ziggler and Big E vs Rybaxel and Cesaro tonight on Main Event! Xavier Woods and R-Truth vs The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper and Eric Rowan) Just by looking at the list of names who will be in this match, you know who is going to win, but the question is how long will it take? This match starts off with both Woods and Truth both hitting dropkicks and Harper nails a big boot. Woods tries to build some momentum by hitting some running forearms but Rowan hits a nice spin kick straight to his face. Woods hits a lovely slingshot DDT into the ring but it only got a two count. Harper hits a superkick and Rowan hits a sit down Spinebuster to get the victory. It was a average squash match, but at least Woods got some offense in because i can not stand Truth even being in the ring. * The Funkadactlys (Cameron and Naomi) vs Nikk Bella and Alicia Fox The reason why Alicia Fix is tagging with Niki Bella is because before this match could begin Stepanie Mcmahon was on the titantron and told Niki that she would have a tag team partner and obviosly by reading the names above it was Fox. I wasn's sad or happy by this choice because i just didn't care. This tag team match starts off with a dropkick by Niki Bella and Cameron pulls her hair which sends her down to the canvas. Bella hits a nice armdrag and goes to make the tag but Fox will not tag in and Fox kicks Bella straight into her face and it looked quiet painfull to be honest. Cameron covers her to get the win for her team, again i must stress the fact that i do not care that Cameron and Naomi are going to start a rivalry and i really don't care that Niki Bella is getting punished for Bries actions at the Payback Pay Per View. 3/4* Backstage is Sheamus who gets interupted by Alberto Del Rio who claims that he will be the one who will challenge Sheamus for the United States Championship on this weeks edition of Friday Night Smackdown. Dolph Ziggler, Rob Van Dam and Big E vs Rybaxel and Cesaro All six of these wrestlers will be involved in the battle royal at the upcoming Battleground Pay Per View for the vacated Intercontinental Championship and the reason why the Championship is vacated is because Bad News Barrett has a injured shoulder. This main event match starts off with Ryback conecting with some strikes until Big E hits a clothesline. He also hits a running shoulder block and a decent belly to belly suplex. Big E also hip tosses Axel into the ring and Ziggler takes of Cesaro's eye patch for some reason. Van Dam gets the tag and he hits a kick to the head and Rolling Thunder. He also hits a spinning kick to the head, rolls him up for a two count and finally hits a weak looking dropkick. How can Van Dam have all of these kicking moves but not be able to hit a decent dropkick? Ryback stops his momentum by hitting a flapjack into the top turnbuckle and Cesaro applies a god dam chinlock. Ryback hits a vertical suplex and Cesaro hits a stiff upricut. Van Dam hits a springboard kick to the head and Axel stops him making the tag by hitting a nice dropkick, that's how you do it Van Dam. Ryback misses a splash of the top because Van Dam moved and Ziggler gets the hot tag. He clears house which includes a clothesline and a neckbraker. He also hits a Rocker Droper onto Cesaro but only got a two count and he also hits a awsome spiked DDT and Cesaro landed square on his head, good stuff. Big E hits a standing belly to belly suplex and Cesaro pushes RVD off the top rope and onto all of the other wrestlers on the floor below and in the ring, Cesaro walks into a ZigZag from Ziggler which gets the win for him and his team. Good match with a very good pace to it, no complaints from me. *** Overal - 4/10 Apart from the Main Event of this show there is nothing worth watching because the Tag Team match was a clear squash match and the Divas match, well thats a Divas match, so i generally don't give a rats ass unless it is something that involes Paige or AJ Lee. |
