Tank Abbott was the drizzling shits. I've been watching some old Nitros on the Network and I had no idea he, teamed with 3 Count of all groups, had a bit of a mini feud with Vampiro, The Insane Clown Posse, and The Great Muta - aka The Dark Carnival. Absolutely awful stuff.

Tank Abbott with Three Count oh boy do I remember that. WCW was trying to capitalize on those teen heartthrob bands of that time period. If I recall Abbott actually sung their theme song at New Blood Rising in August 00. Awful stuff.

I'm heading into October 99 on Nitro and the Sting heel turn was such a dumb decision. He's not even acting like a heel. Just saw a match with him vs Benoit and the whole match he worked like a face.

The Russo Era is coming up. God help me

Just got done watching the 10-11-99 Nitro. To this day it's still tough to watch Heenan trying not to break down over Monsoon's passing. But the tribute he gave him was very fitting and spoke volumes of their friendship over the years.

This episode in particular really shows the real life tension between Heenan and Schiavone. To him basically blowing by the tribute to Gorilla and at times yelling at Heenan. Then that famous line by Heenan near the end where he yells ''I can't hear you from down here!!''

I'm up to the Nitro's leading to Mayhem 99 and we're full into the Russo Era now. Way more backstage segments and matches that are given no time at all. Not to mention ref bumps and interference, two of Russo's calling cards.

We also got the debut of ''Seven'' aka Dustin Rhodes who upon debut completely buried the gimmick live on air. they built this character up for weeks and ended it that fast. I know Russo loves shock value and all but damn this stuff is hard to watch.

David Flair is now doing his lunatic gimmick and was stalking Kimberly. I was like am I watching a wrestling show or a very low budget horror flick?

I haven't watched these shows since they aired but I do remember majority of the feuds/angles. Wish me luck guys as I dive further into the abyss known as the Russo Era.

You are brave.

From what I recall, Dustin Rhodes' "Seven" gimmick was created by the previous regime and had been teased on TV before the arrival of Russo and Ferrara. The assumption was that he'd be called the "Midnight Rider", based off of Daddy Dusty's old gimmick.

When "Seven" was immediately buried on Nitro, I kinda' got the sense that Russo and Ferrara wanted to cut off any ideas that weren't theirs.

I remember marking out for the first "new regime" Nitro, when Jeff Jarrett appeared and smashed Buff Bagwell with a guitar. All the whacky shenanigans were fun once, but they got old and tired within 2 weeks. The un-seen "Power That Be" (a set of hands behind a desk) and Russo's little troupe of Curt Hennig, "Shane" and La Parka as "Skeletor"... oh, the hilarity.

It was either the first or second Russo/Ferrara Nitro, where Goldbegr had a "mystery parnter" for the main event. Nobody was surprised, because it turned out to the ONLY guy who hadn't been on TV throughout the episode-- SID Vicious. Very bogus, indeed.

They are also doing a Nitro Girls breaking up angle. Of all people why do they need an angle? Did they really think people would be interested in that? all these years later it still boggles my mind at the dumb shit they did.

A major problem Russo always pulls is that he tries to cram to much into one show rather than letting it build up over time. I just watched Goldberg vs Sting on the 11-8-99 Nitro and it only lasted 2 minutes which also included a ref bump and interference.

The Main Event was a ladder match for the US Title that Bret Hart actually won since he pulled the belt down but since we're talking Russo booking here, Scott Hall won after Nash hit Bret with a bat (he was ref because reasons) and gave the belt to Hall.

And to top it off they had a Hardcore match that ended in a countout.

I'm a few shows away from Starrcade 99.

It's a real shame to watch Bret Hart in his final run in wrestling be so wasted. Every match he's in at this point you can tell he's just going through the motions. I'm really dreading the whole ''NWO 2000'' stuff coming up.

They debuted Ferrara's mockery of Jim Ross with the Oklahoma gimmick. Total disgrace but it's Russo so I'm not surprised.

Heenan is nearing his end on his Nitro run as by early 2000 he would be put on Thunder than fired later in the year.

They had Meng cut a promo which should never happen but Russo again.

I always get a chuckle out of Screamin' Norman Smiley. The guy was over i'll give em that.

To top it all off they had the Outsiders trash the TV title. Russo Buries everything else so why not once a prestigious title?

Is it the Meng promo where he tells Goldberg: "You must die, so that I must live"?

No it was just a basic promo on Sting as that's who he was wrestling that night.

It just felt so out of place and unnecessary. I'm thinking to myself just let Meng be a silent badass.

I always get a chuckle out of Screamin' Norman Smiley. The guy was over i'll give em that.

Total guilty pleasure for me. The "reluctant hardcore champ" schtick was actually pretty funny. Liked how he sucked up to the local crowd by wearing whichever jersey was appropriate.

Haven't seen it since it first aired, but Ralphus dressed in a mascot outfit, then getting his head caught in the ropes... kinda' funny, as well.

If there was ever a show that completely destroyed kayfabe in wrestling it was the 12-20-99 episode of Nitro.

To Schiavone saying terms like ''selling'' and ''gimmick'' and both Piper and Nash cutting ''shoot'' promos on the writers backstage, who wins/loses etc.

This episode in particular was really the going into the abyss and never coming back show for WCW in my opinion. Russo turned the show into one big shoot.

Majority of the angles made no sense and were confusing on top of that.

And oh yeah the formation of ''NWO 2000''......

Well I'm into February 2000 now on Nitro. Mark Madden has replaced Heenan on commentary. Don't get me wrong he is terrible but one thing I'll give em is that he atleast tries to be a heel announcer unlike today's so called ''heel'' announcers.

The main feud for the World Title is Sid vs Jarrett with Scott Hall thrown in as well. I believe this is one of Scott's last feuds in WCW.

Flair vs Funk while a great feud in 89 was just terrible in 2000 WCW.

Norman Smiley is still entertaining as hell and one of the few highlights of the whole show.

We're into the Luger ''breaking'' arms angle. Only positive is seeing Liz as she was really gorgeous during this time period.

They're trying to rebuild the cruiserweight division after the disaster of ''Oklahoma'' and Madusa as Champion.
