Estimated the crowd at near capacity, with no notable sections being empty. This show had a few notable substitutions, some major (John Cena, Sheamus), and some completely insignificant (Stardust and Neville). Overall, a very enjoyable show, with most of the Superstars and “Divas” working hard with less than 24 hours before a big PPV. JoJo did ring introductions and the dude from NXT (sorry, I don't know his name) hung around to pimp the Network, signed posters, and the usual house show talkie stuff.

Dolph Ziggler pinned Tyler Breeze at the 13-minute mark. Crowd was really into Ziggler, not-so-much for Breeze. Shouldn’t come as a surprise considering Breeze is already a non-factor on TV. Hot opener with minimal resting. Surprised to see Breeze kick out of the Famouser. They did the sequence of pinfall reversals that we would be tortured with by the likes of Torrie and Stacy Keibler back in the day, except Ziggler and Breeze do it well. They immediately went into the finish, with Ziggler getting the Super-Kick for the three count. ***

Braun Strowman pinned Curtis Axel at the 4-minute mark. When Axel came out, I was expecting the rest of the Social Outcast, but he went out there solo. Strowman being his unadvertised opponent meant it was going to be a quick night for Axel. Also surprised how many flashlights were put up for his entrance, since it wasn’t the standard Wyatt entrance. About as good as you’re going to see a squash match with Strowman, with Axel bumping for him like a pinball and making his limited offense look good. Strowman won with his over-head flipping slam. *

Chris Jericho def. Alberto Del Rio in a Non-Title Match at the 15-minute mark. Jericho was a late substutition for John Cena, so the US Title was taken off the table to have the baby-face go over clean. Crowd was super into Jericho and were into the entire match. They did comedy early, with Del Rio taunting the sign guy (red cap, blue shirt) and ripping up a sign. Jericho got back at him by taking his t-shirt and wiping down his arm-pits and crotch. TV Main Event quality match, with a lot of near falls and counters. Finish came when Jericho avoided the Double Stomp and hit the Code Breaker for the clean three count. ***1/2

The New Day def. The Usos to retain the Tag Team Titles at the 12-minute mark. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston represented the team, while Big E. mostly danced at ringside, taunted one of the ring announcers (the male announcer from NXT, his name escapes me), and eating a sign from the same fan from the Jericho/Del Rio match. Mostly comedy the first few minutes, with New Day dancing and taunting, and Jimmy Uso showing off his dance moves, too. Nothing really stood out during the heat segment, and the finish saw a pretty cool suicide dive from Jey. Big E interfered late behind the back of the referee and Woods rolled up Jimmy for the three count. I’m assuming with a handful of tights. **1/4

Dean Ambrose def. Kevin Owens to retain the Intercontinental Championship at the 12-minute mark. Disappointing match. They seemed to be holding back for the Royal Rumble, doing mostly rest-holds and the occasional big spot. This might’ve effected the crowd, as they seemed to not be as into it as most of the show, so far. Ambrose kicked out of the Pop-Up Powerbomb, which came as a surprise. Owens tried using a chair, but the referee pulled it away from him, creating a bit of a distraction that allowed Ambrose to recover and hit Dirty Deeds for the three count. **

Becky Lynch def. Tamina at the 10-minute mark. Alicia Fox was the “special referee”, wearing an outfit that would barely qualify for appropriate attire. Tamina had Naomi in her corner, and got almost zero reaction. Very cookie-cutter match, since Tamina didn’t really do much. Tamina and Naomi had a miscommunication on the apron, allowing Becky to roll her up for three. After all the clean finishes for babyfaces tonight, we give the “Diva” who is challenging for the Title the cheapest finish? Post-match, Naomi and Tamina attacked Becky and Alicia, but Natalya made a “surprise” return to clean house and put Tamina in the Sharpshooter. Surprise is in quotes since she was advertised on the Germain Arena’s website.

Bray Wyatt def. Kane at the 9-minute mark. Crowd was really into both guys, especially Kane. I know, that doesn’t sound likely, but he was getting a lot of sympathy chants. Not much to this one you couldn’t piece together. Brawling in and around the ring, Kane keeps getting knocked silly going for a Chokeslam, we get the Zombie Sit-Up vs. the Spider-Walk. The finish came when Strowman pushed Kane off the top rope while attempting the flying clothesline, and Wyatt finished him with Sister Abigail. **

Roman Reigns def. Rusev to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the 16-minute mark. This was advertised as Sheamus challenging, but the substitution wasn’t announced from what I recall. Rusev had Lana with her, who put over the idea before the match that Rusev would walk away tonight and be the defending Champion in tomorrow’s Rumble Match. Long, maybe a bit too long for these two. They did some impressive power stuff, but Rusev grabbed a few headlocks too many. Lots of chants for Roman, who got almost zero boos, as well as for Rusev (USA, Rusev Sucks, etc. etc.). Finish came when Roman fought his way out of the Accolade and hit the Spear for the clean pinfall. **3/4
