I dug out the Halloween 88 episode of Prime Time today. The Tony Packo's Hungarian Hot Dog segment was gold. Heenan telling this older couple to leave a tip as they were walking in was hilarious. I can watch these two all day. |

Is it just me or did Jesse Ventura not fit in as co-host during the beginning of the shows run? At times he was quiet and just seemed like he didn't care to be there. |

I don't think Jesse really hit his stride, as a commentator, until 1986. Before then, he would try to be an analyst or PBP guys, at times, which aren't his strong suits. His early PTW shows with Jack Reynolds are terrible. He got a little better when he teamed up with Gorilla on PTW in mid-1985. Even in early 1986, he was still making occasional appearances as a wrestler. Probably when he came back from "Predator", in the the fall of 1986, is when he found his groove and went full-time commentator. By then, he knew how/when to play off of both Gorilla and McMahon. |

When Jesse found his strive he never looked back. Him and Heenan are the two best heel announcers ever in wrestling in my book. I'm really glad Monsoon replaced Jack Reynolds. Talk about a guy who was bland as hell with no personality. You ain't lying when you said those early shows were terrible. |

I watched the infamous Heenan/Rooster episode from January 89. All these years later I still don't get why they put Steve Lombardi in the feud. He was a jobber for years and all of a sudden he's paired with Heenan? It was a good debut for the Brawler gimmick though i'll give em that. Monsoon being hit by the stool was a good way to get the angle/feud over. 89 imo was the best all around year for PTW in general. Great angles and overall the banter between Heenan/Monsoon was the most entertaining. |

Heenan, himself, explained it at the time. He said to Taylor: "you were a nobody until I found you! Now, I'm going to get an even bigger nobody and take them to the top". So Heenan was bringing Lombardi along, just to spite "Terry Taylor" and prove his point that he (Heenan) is the key to success. One thing they dropped about the feud was that Heenan initially called him "Terry Taylor", since he had given him the name "Red Rooster". So to spite Heenan, Taylor insisted on using the name "Red Rooster". Keeping the Rooster name worked for this feud, but by the end of the summer he was just a clown who proclaimed: "it'll be a good day in the barnyard!" |

Yeah the Heenan feud was the only ''highlight'' so to speak of the Red Rooster gimmick. He did nothing of note for the remainder of his 1st run. Unless you count him being apart of Team Dusty at that year's Survivor Series. It's a shame he got saddled with that gimmick as Terry Taylor was a solid worker. |

There's an old Coliseum video featuring a Terry Taylor/Tito Santana match that featured Terry, having dropped the Rooster gimmick, working a very subtle heel style. It was actually a really solid match. I forget who won, but Terry showed some fire and really viciously cut off Tito's comeback spots. |

That was his 2nd run in the WWF as ''Terrific'' Terry Taylor in late 92/early 93. It didn't last long unfortunately as by KOTR 93 he was doing backstage interviews and shortly after that he left. He's definitely in a long list of guys WWF dropped the ball with. |

Even though I got a ton of PTW episodes in my personal collection, I look forward to when the Network finally puts the whole catalog up. It be more convenient for me to binge watch since my wrestling DVD archives are stored away. |

What was the reasoning behind the format change in February 91? was ratings down or did they just want to try something different? In my opinion they had plenty more mileage with Heenan/Monsoon in the studio. |

I was watching the episode where they were at the movie theatre promoting ''No Holds Barred''. Heenan had the crowd cracking up when he was making fun of the Rosatti sisters. Classic stuff. I remember the Rosatti sisters being in the crowd at many MSG House Shows back in the day. They used them a lot in the late 80s/early 90s on Prime Time and the Bobby Heenan Show. |

AKA "The Oinkettes"! The "live" theatre appearance showed just how much fun those two had together. They were up there, on a side-stage, as sort of an opening comedy act. An MST3K version of Gorilla and the Brain watching movies would be all kinds of fun. |

It's been said a lot in the past but the chemistry between Heenan and Monsoon will forever be untouchable imo. Every show it seemed Heenan made Monsoon laugh. You could tell they didn't need a script. The announcers today don't even come close to these two. Truly two of a kind. To say I miss these days would be understatement of the year. |
