I think he hooked up with the Toronto-based wrestling group, then segued into the WWF when they were absorbed in 1986-1987. For US audiences, he disappeared from TV shortly after WrestleMania V. But I think he hung around on the international broadcasts for awhile longer. There are reports that he did in-ring jobs up until 1990 (most of which were never on US TV). Surprised he was "only" 66. He looked to be in his 50's when he was carrying that "USA is not OK" sign in 1988. |

RIP Frenchy. Not the best manager but I enjoyed his run with Bravo during that time period. |

He had an extensive career, but unfortunately I'm only familiar with his work in the WWF as enhancement talent and as Dino Bravo's manager following the break up of the "New" Dream Team. As much as I try to find something positive to say for former wrestlers who passed away, I don't think I ever enjoyed anything he did in the WWF. His ringwork was pretty poor, even by the mid 80's standards, and he's one of the worst managers of all time with one of the lamest cheap heat devices possible (carrying around big sign making fun of the USA). |

If I understood French, I might've thought he was a better manager. From I saw of him, he was terrible. Yet, I thought the fact that he only managed Dino Bravo made Bravo seem like a bigger deal. The quick obituary mentions "among others". Aside from Bravo, I can only think of Jos LeDuc "The Headbanger"... for all of a few weeks in July 1988. Only real WWF in-ring "highlight" of his that I can remember was a December 1987 match with Ultimate Warrior on PTW. Martin goes down and whispers: "I broke my arm" to Warrior. You can hear Warrior LOUDLY saying: "Huh?!" Then they go to the pin after an ordinary clothesline. |

He had a decent run in Stampede and in Colon's territory, according to the brief news published on F4Wonline.com. The obituary in next weeks issue should help me paint a better picture of his career. |
