Big Rock Candy the Mountain looks like a great build for someone with a year of play under the belt and/or a good support system of some sort. Guild, Sugar-toon-daddy, something?

People say fighters are easy. In my mind they are one of the hardest classes to build and play well. To make this Pc go at low levels you need a friendly healer, planing to heal you, or lots of pots. Mid levels the healer is more or less implied, but you still have to count on your healer. Hoping the is in healing mode not killing mode, that second you need a heal. And by God you better be following the leader/s helpful tips or they will let you die, right Lessah?

I would rather play a Pally. They are as complex to play. But better skilled at staying alive.

If I didn't have a guild to count on or a Sugar-toon-daddy I would and was looking for a melee type build I would make something like theJavabot Jr, I like what Michael has done here. Good changes.

Or theThe Killer Frog! I also like this build a lot and have told others about this one. I have a Guildie following this build. It is very tough. It has 28 and 32 point layouts. Very nice!
Do you have a good Pally/Tank Build? I am interested in playing a melee class that is a tank and can switch to TWF or THF to do DPS when needed? I am just curious what you mean by a Sugar-Daddy build? is it because of the gear that you need? I mean all classes are gear dependent and I know this is really the case with melee classes. I have never hard issues playing my Barbarian or TWF pally when it comes to getting heals. Once the healer knows you are the one kicking ass they will gladly keep you alive.
'Once the healer knows you are the one kicking ass they will gladly keep you alive.'

this is good one, i may have pissed a little. If you have a "healer" in your group you make friends with him and help him with his/her costs and what ever it takes. Because sooner or later that healer will grow in to a good ass kicker too and then sooner or later it will become heal the "fighers" or finish the fight then rez them. What is less mana?

Some will heal and fight but those are the best, if you find one of them stay in his good graces.

Do you have a good Pally/Tank Build?

I like the Javabot, Mical's Jr is linked, it is good, my orignal is someplace and i talked about in in a SC if you look you will find it.

And the killer Frog is good.

But what i think of in a Tank and what you think of in a tank are still different. I think a tank is some one has the defenses covered. And then can stand a take a beating, the bots have DoD for when they are getting hit. And do great DPS.

Junts in his A Guide to Creating Paladins has a build a pally where he does 18p/2f that is a don't get hit master at argro control if that is what your looking for use his build.

As for Sugar-Daddy, Plats makes the server stay on. A money making toon is often needed to fuel experimental builds to there full craziness. A stack of good pots, Bark pots, wands, weapons whatever PDers know the tricks for untwink life. the rest, we suffer a toon up and then loot run for awhile until we have some plats then we can play like we don't care.

Don't be like me a fist thump over a +1 staff on Orien. Booooooy! Face.

I am playing yak cast 3 and i wanted to post this for you yak.
from Junts

Sample 20 TWF Drow DPS

Lawful Good Drow Paladin 20

Str: 15 + 5 level ups (+6 item, +2 tome, +3 exceptional= 30, 32 with a +3 tome)
Dex: 16 (+1 tome qualifies for twf)
Con: 12 (+6 item, +2 tome for 20)
Int: 10 (2 skill points; +2 tome helps for extra)
Wis: 8 (+2 tome and +6 item is 16)
Cha: 17 (+3 tome for divine might 3; 26-28 charisma equipped)

Feats:

1: Toughness
3: Two-Weapon Fighting
6: Extend Spell
9: Improved Two-Weapon Fighting
12: Improved critical: Piercing weapons
15: Greater Two-Weapon Fighting
18: Power Attack

Skills: Balance and Use Magic Device, every level. 2 ranks in tumble to enable tumbling at lv 1 (come from balance). With +2 tome, get some jump.

Enhancements:

Knight of the Chalice 1-3 (8 ap)
Courage of Good 1-2 (3 ap, pre-req)
Energy of the Templar 1-2 (3 ap, pre-req)
Divine Sacrifice 1-3 (6 ap)
Divine Might 1-4 (10 ap)
Extra Lay on Hands 1-3 (6 ap)
Extra Smiting 1-4 (10 ap, pre-req)
Exalted Smiting 1-4 (10 ap)
Racial Toughness 1-2 (3 AP)
Paladin Toughness 1-2 (3 ap)
Follower of the Sovereign Host (2 ap, pre-req)
Unyielding Sovereignty (4 ap, pre-req)
Paladin Weapons of Good (2 ap)
Drow weapon damage 1-2 (6 ap)
Paladin Charisma I (if needed for even)
2 action points of your choice

Rapiers: As above, but for drow. This is a particularly potent combination, since drow are by far the easiest race to make paladin 20 damage builds with, due to their dex and cha bonuses.

I tried a version of The Monster build (Rog2/Rgr6/Ftr12) that was a halfling with the healing dragonmarks (but no trap skills -- not enough skill points to support it with all those fighter levels). Currently level 13 or 14, I haven't looked in a while because I started an Exploiter build. I wouldn't do it without a 32 point build - not as much of an issue since it's in the store these days, but it's turning out pretty well and the dragonmarks help curb the cost of healing significantly (plus, as a ranger, the character can swing cheaper wands rather than have to buy expensive potions). The only issue is grabbing a +3 wisdom item or Owl's Wisdom potions/wands at low levels, since the build starts with 8 Wisdom and you need 11 to throw Ram's Might, but you can do without that if necessary, plus maybe a +1 dex tome for GTWF (which you won't be taking until at least level 12 anyway).

Maybe not the easiest thing to do without being established, but not too hard especially with the store and all.
Nice did what was the highest lvl that you made it to with this build?
http://my.ddo.com/character/khyber/sagiri/

Only level 12 so far, but I love the build.

Thanks for posting this build, however it's not what I am looking for. what you have built is mainly for a DPS build I already pally that is lvl 6 and lvl 2 fighter so that i could take extra feats for over sized TWF and Khopesh's. he is build just for DOS and I have talked about him in my casts. I could find the Java build and looked at the Frog built and i didn't like it. Taking a Wizard lvl is a wast for wands when you can focus on UMD. I believe we can agree with this definition of a tank, as I have not seen it change in every MMO that I have played.

A Tank is able to keep and hold aggro. A Tank is able to take damage and stay alive so the healer can maximize their resources.

Depending on the quests on normal or hard, we have not needed a healer since the Tank was great. This is at lower levels.

The 3 main requirements of a Tank, are to have a high AC, HP, and in DDO Intimidate. Also, abilities that draw hate are great as well. As far as cost, I am really good at playing the AH and haven't had trouble making money in DDO. Having to by pots, scrolls, wands all help and have not had problems affording them once I have a toon rolling. In the beginning yes but by the time they get to lvl 8, there aren't any issues as this is when yo will start to need them.

I think that evasion would help out a tank for half or no damage since AC doesn't help you there. The only thing I didn't like about the Hard Candy build is taking combat Expertise very late in the game but that can be changed. Maybe, doing a Pally/Rogue Tank but I don't think would be be enough feats for that. Maybe going THF and not TWF would work since you don't have the DEX requirement.

I may have to work a on a Pally Tank class build. Damn it, bu that is the whole point of this talk to brain storm. Thank you Samius and keep it comming. ;)

Cool, nice stats that you have there. I like the idea of being a tank and having to switch from tanking and dps mode depending on the situation. It gives you more a challenge and survivability. With my Barb it's just rage, frenzy and swing your weapon. Very fun to play but maybe I am wanting some thing more. I just need to break my alt-idous and stick with one build.

I had a fighter build that I wanted to do that with -- it's easier with them because they have so many feats, plus intimidate as a class skill and all. CE, Tower Shields, the TWF line (eventually)...later on, I had even thought about taking the THF line too since I would've had the feats.

Unfortunately that character was a 28 point build and I didn't give her a high enough dex - the character was made pre server merge back in 2007, so it was hastily done. I'm basically parking her at 10 until greater reincarnation is available.

No, Greater. This character was only 28 points; I need the Greater to upgrade her to 32.

Pally/Rogue Tank

The Defense guild runs many pally/rogues pally/monks and a few pally/monk/wiz.

It comes down to what you want to do. I wouldn't try any of the Pally/x with out 32 points. The pally is a hard class to work stat wise.

Feat wise you really have to pick and choose also. My guild leader just spent 7 million gold and lots of TP to redo his feats at lvl 19. With the plan to spend more once all his Greensteel is online.

You are welcome to visit the my guild's site where a lot of our brain storming goes down.

Here there be monsters... is Tobril's blog were he has talked all this to death as well as my replys. Ed Bruckman's Final Repose is Phlor's blog were he talks some times about his TR path as a Pally rogue. Torrance's Thoughts is my wife who also has a pally rogue I think she has ideas on here blog also.

As well as if you sign up for account you can start a forum and get their input. They troll our site but not this one.

Hey all, started a Drow Sorcerer (her name is Bantira), I may just go pure class on it, or do some multiclassing, bardic-sorcerer?? heh heh... Like Amaskery I have never capped a character so I'll probably make a real gimped-one.. Any way look forward to jumping into the build guild.

I'd love to get in on this action.

I'm thinkin on rollin me up a Pale Master. I have 1 WF lvl 13 wizard but I think I might splash monk and go high AC on this one. Is it possible? Is it a disaster? Who knows.

I'm going for the name Layf.

I will send a mail to ddocastguildbuild@gmail.com

Leef,

WF lvl 13 wizard but I think I might splash monk and go high AC on this one. Is it possible? Is it a disaster?

I don't know if your asking for advice or not but I am going to give it.

Looking at the math for a wiz/monk the ac is fairly good. If you wanted to do a moderately high dex and wis, got a good set of armor brasers or a small handful of other outfits or robes that help with the AC.

Doing this on a WF, is where the math gets hard. Your body would need to stay light (evasion, centered), so you cut yourself off from the mithral body. Which is fine. But an AC hit. Then you loose the option of using a shield, sure the shield spell is great but it is not +7/8 or more to your AC great there are lots of little to no spell fail shields. Also you will be fighting the WF penalty to wis.

To me the math leans to going a fleshing race for the wizard/monk using AC as the solo deciding factor. If you are using other factors then you might be better off WF, or going rogue, or even 1fighter/X for the feat and the weapons and the tower sheild.

Me I might think more Hp and go WF. But I know with work I know a wiz/rog/halfling can push 52-57 at level 13-15 self buffed/no buffs (with my TRed items), raid buffed in to the mid / high 60s. Think I did 69 for a quest. But that was a strange thing.

Mithral Body counts as light.

Of course, it's also a measly +5 max dex, so that might be a problem.

Hey your right about how the Mithral Body counts as light. Good catch!

I misspoke as to why a Wf monk needs to stay Composite Plating.

To be Centered, a Monk must ....
"Warforged Monks must also have a body type no heavier than Composite Plating."

I had it in my brain it was do to being med armor not a centered limitation. My Wf caster/rog might be able to go to Mithral Body however.
