Greetings Citizens and brave adventures of Stormreach! The time has finally come, the Antique Road Show has finally arrived in Xen’drik. Broadcasting live, from deep within the City of Stormreach comes “Definitive Collectables.” I’m your gracious host and master collector, Steiner Davion. As many player, newbie and veteran alike are painfully aware of, there is a seemingly vast array of collectables that can be found and looted in and around Stormreach. By my count there are just over 110 different collectables, and until the introduction of collectable bags, there was just no way that anyone was really going to bother collecting any of them, let alone turn them in, well except for myself. Believe it or not collectables can be a good source of money and equipment if you can find room in your inventory for a couple of bags. And even more unbelievable, even if your bag is overflowing when you turn them in, you will still receive your rewards, which will appear in the first empty inventory slot when you clean out your inventory, especially when you sell your rewards at the store. Anyway, why a show devoted strictly to Collectables? Sine shortly after launch, I’ve hosted and updated “the Definitive Collectables List” on the DDO.com forums, and a couple of weeks ago, Lessa did a brief segment about the usefulness of the potions you can get from the collectors located a top of the House Deneith Tower, and I thought it might be valuable for everyone to know where all the collectors are located and what you can get for your efforts. And ever since the news regarding the Stone of Change Rituals involving collectables, people have wanted to know what quests were good places to farm looking for the more hard to find collectables like Lightning-Split Soarwood. I’ll be covering that information in a later episode. When I put the original thread together, I was tired of collecting random collectables, and not getting items and equipment that would be useful to my characters, especially since we didn’t have bags to put them all in yet. And I thought it might be useful to have a list written down that would tell me what I could get for each type of collectable, how many I needed to get anything at all, and most importantly who to turn them into and where I could find them. Because Back in the day, the when you examained each collectable, it did not tell you who collected them or how many were required to turn in. I’ve recently redone the collectable’s List in a new Thread which can be found on the DDO.com forums by doing a search for the thread Title: “New & Improved Definitive Collectables List.” Be sure to check that out for more complete details, and if you have any questions, comments or updates please post them in the thread or shoot me a PM. In the thread, I’ve posted maps of each section of Stormreach and its surrounding encampments, annotating the location of each collector, so that you can quickly find them and hurry over them and turn in your valuable collectables, for some free equipment. In this inaugural episode, we’ll be talking about Collectable Bags and the Harbor Collectors. There are three types or sizes of Collectable Bags, Small, Medium and Large. Small bags can hold up to 12 different, distinct, and unique types of collectables. Medium Collectable Bags can hold up to 30, while Large Collectable Bags can hold 80. Now, the next question on your mind is probably, “How do you get these collectable bags?” Well that’s an easy one. You can get a free Small collectable bag as a reward option from Completing the beginning Quest: “Old Sully’s Grog” for Sigmund in the Wavecrest Tavern, when you first arrive in Stormreach. You are also offered one for finding and returning Aida’s necklace to her as well. Medium Bags can be found for sale from the General Vendors, Troy Alzander, inside Empty Handed in House Jorasco and Drudori Alzander, inside Erstwhile Emporium in House Phiarlan for the reasonable sum of around 81,075 gold pieces a piece depending on your haggle skill. While not necessarily cheap, it is a worthwhile investment, if you think you might want to pick up a few collectables during your adventures. Large Bags, however, can only be obtained by looting chests, or if your extremely wealthy, you might be able to find one for sale on the Auction House. In any event, they are extremely rare, and I personally have yet to see one drop in a chest and have only seen a couple for auction. That brings us to the Harbor Zone and its 6 collectors. The first collector you are likely to meet and talk with is Ciadan Kelle, located between the Wavecrest Tavern, and the entrance to the Rare Scroll quest. Ciadan is a Mushroom collector and should not be confused with his sister Celaeno, located in the square outside Hazadill’s Shipping Warehouse and Gambler’s Den. Ciaden will be happy to receive 3 Sweet White Caps in exchange for a level 1 potion. For 2 Deadly Feverbranches, he will give you another level 1 potion, and for 1 Pale Creeper he will giveyou a set of Masterwork Armor. A big step up form your starter armor for sure. As I mentioned Ciadan’s sister, Celaeno is also a Mushroom Collector, and she can be found in the small square outside of Hazadill’s Shipping Warehouse and the entrance to Gambler’s Den. She collects the same mushroom as her brother but will give you some much more generally useful potions. For 3 Sweet Whitecaps, she will randomly give you either a Cure Light Wounds Potion or a Repair Light Wounds Potions. For 2 Deadly Feverbranches, she will give you a Feverbranch Salve, a potion of Remove Disease). And for 1 Pale Creeper, she will still give you a set of Masterwork Armor. Next is Wash Pynoptis the Reagent Collector. He can be found just outside Philosopher’s Row. Wash will be most happy to give you a level 1 Arcane Spell Scroll for 3 Amber Vials. And for 2 Vials of Pure Water he will reward you with a level 1 Arcane Wand. And for 1 Vial of Contagion, he’ll gladly give you the clothes of his back, giving you a Magic Robe, with some random minor property on it. Goldscuttle the Kobold is located just inside Philosopher’s Row. Goldscuttle is Stormreach’s Most prominent Kobold Resident, and is a collector of Religious Icons. In exchange for 3 strings of Prayer Beads, he will provide you with a stack of 20 masterwork ammunition (arrows, bolts, throwing daggers, shuriken and the like). For 2 Small Wooden Icons, he supply you with a stack of +1 ammunition, and for all of you who hate Kobolds, he will provide you with either a random +1 Lesser Reptilian Bane Melee Weapon or a stack of 20 +1 Reptilian Bane Ammunition. Next up is Giles Goodman, Stormreach’s most travelled scholar and Document Collector. He sure knows how to quickly get around the city, so don’t be surprised if you run into him often while moving about the city. While in the Harbor area, Giles likes to setup shop outside the Leaky Dingy Tavern. For 3 Torn Pages from Research Books, he will give you 1 Divine Based Scroll. For 2 Khyber Prayer Pamphlets, he will supply you with a level 1 Divine Wand. And finally for 1 Tome: Prophecies of Khyber, he will give you a random piece of Jewelry or piece of clothing, which will give you +1 to a random skill. Finally for those of you who are ready to face off against evil creatures from the outerplanes, and would like to help Defend Stormreach from the Invaders, head on down to the bottom of the stairs outside the entrance to the Waterworks and speak with Phinnian Barkbow about Invader Tokens. Invader Tokens can only be found in the end chest of the Invader’s Quest which takes you back into the Waterworks to fight back the evil hordes trying to invade our fair city. The exact number of Invader tokens that drop varies every time you complete the quest and is different for every character each run. When you have collected a sufficient amount, 25, go talk to Phinnian again and give him your tokens. He will reward you with a one time option of one of the following: a Demonic Breastplate, a Docent of Defense, a Ring of Balance, or a Scepter of Healing. You can only turn in 25 tokens with each character. The Tokens are Bind on Acquire, so you cannot trade or give them away. The Demonic Breastplate is a set of +5 Adamantine Breastplate, which give your Fire and Ice Resistance. The Docent of Defense is a +5 Docent of Heavy Fortification (100% immunity to critical hits) which also grants you +2 Protection to your AC. The Ring of Balance grants you Stability for all you True Neutral adventures, a +2 Natural Armor bonus, +13 to your Balance Skill and can cast Dismissal 3x day. Finally the Scepter of Healing is a +4 Flametouched Iron Heavy Mace, granting your Greater Devotion V and Greater Healing Lore, making your 5th level and lower healing spells much more effective. Well that is all the time we have this week. Staytuned, next week we will talk about the Marketplace and is Collectors. If you have any questions or comments feel free to post them in the New & Improved Definitive Collectable List thread on the DDO.com forums or Email Jerry at ddocast@gmail.com, who will pass it along to me. This is Steiner Davion, reminding you to keep collecting and don’t forget to turn them in. |

Great first show! Thank you for pinning the notes. Do you mind if I link your collectibles list in the Permadeath Forums? Mortal Voyage may already have it, but I think there are two who don't. (Sublime and Extreme Explorers) |

Episode 2! Greetings Citizens and brave adventures of Stormreach! It’s that time again, Broadcasting live, from deep within the City of Stormreach, The Antique Road Show is proud to present, “Definitive Collectables.” I’m your host and master collector, Steiner Davion. On Last week’s show we discussed Collectable Bags and the Collectors located in the Harbor section of Stormreach. This week after crawling through the muck and sewage of the Water Works and having Freed Arlos and finding poor Venn’s tortured corpse, we have managed to acquire our very own Writ of Commendation and were able to get Past the guards without resorting to bribery and make our way into the fabled marketplace of Stormreach. Sadly, we quite disheartened to see ruins of the once impressive Marketplace Tent; after all it was on the top of our Must See Sightseeing List, right after The Statue and the Fountain in Aspirant’s Corner. Anyway I digress, this weeks show brings us into the Marketplace, where we talked with the nine, that’s right NINE different collectors who have elected to set up shop around the impressive Marketplace. First up is Stormreach’s resident scholar and well traveled, Giles Goodman. That’s right we talked to him last week, outside the Leaky Dinghy Tavern in the Harbor. Giles is Stormreach’s self appointed and much agreed upon resident expert when it comes to Ancient documents of obscurity. While in the Marketplace he likes to set up shop near the entrance to the Searing Heights. For 3 Caravan Log Books, Giles will reward you with a Level 2 spell Scroll, and will give you a level 2 Spell Wand for 2 Research Diaries. Of note here, is that the scrolls and wands he gives you are likely be for an Attribute boosting spell such as Bull’s Strength or Eagle’s Splendor. And for 1 Tome: Myths of Old Xen’drick, he will happily supply you with a +1 Skill boosting item. Our next collector. Kipling Vranch, is not afraid of heights unlike our brave host here. Kipling can be found atop Falconer’s Spire where you can board the air ships to either Restless Isles or the Mennecterran Desert. Mr. Vranch is a financial accountant and auditor and enjoys studying old financial documents. For 3 Phoenix Tavern Purchase Orders he will give you a level 2 Divine based spell scroll and for 2 Wavecrasher Cargo Manifests, he will part with one of his Level 2 Divine Spell Wands. Finally for 1 Tome: Stormreach Imports & Exports 857YK, he will gladly trade away his mother’s heirloom jewelry which is rumored to provide a +1 bonus to some skill. Little is known about of next collector, Xovun Chalk other than that he is under contract with the Coin Lords as Stormreach’s Medical Examiner conducting autopsies. Mr. Chalk, can be found outside his office at the bottom of the stair leading into the House Deneith Enclave at the North end of the Marketplace. Xovun, the Forensics collector, will is quite willing to trade you a Level 2 Arcane Spell Scroll for 3 Skull Fragments, and a Level 3 Arcane wand for 2 samples of Powdered Blood. And for 1 Intact Finger Bone, he will trade you his official looking lab coat, which is rumored to have some random magical property. That brings us to our most beloved and insane dwarf, Yannick Drumdoom, who can be found sitting astride the low wall beneath the fountain just inside the Gates to the harbor. Yannick is a Morbid Curious Collector, and is fascinated with all things undead. He one of Stormreach’s foremost experts on undead creatures, if you can decipher what exactly it is he is saying, as he is quite mad. I just want to grab his drum and run off down the street with it. For 3 Funerary Tokens Yannick will give you a stack of 20 +1 arrows or some other type of ammunition. For 2 Marks of the Keeper, he will supply you with a stack of 20 +2 arrows or the like or a +1 returning weapon with or without a special metal property, such as silver or cold iron. And for 1 Necromantic Gem he will gladly supply you the means to quickly dispatch even more of the cursed undead by giving you a stack of 20 +1 Undead Bane Arrows or the like or even a +1 Lesser Undead Bane Melee Weapon. Of special note here though, is that Funerary Token are used in the Stone of Change “Resistance” crafting rituals, so be careful not to trade him them if you want to add this ritual to any of you gear. Next is Loura Jotun, the Moss Collector. Loura is convinced that the Marketplace Tent will be restored or return somehow, and continues to sit out the tent ruins on the East side waiting to prove to everyone that she is right. For 3 specimens of Withered Cryptmoss, she will supply you with either a level 1 or 2 potions. For 2 specimens of Cryptmoss she will brew you the latest in medical alchemy to be developed in Stormreach and supply you with 1 dose of Cryptmoss Infusion, guaranteed to ease you aches and pains. And for 1 piece of Lush Cryptmoss she will reward you with a set of +1 Magical Armor. But it seems to me, that all the fumes from her potion have impaired her senses, so the armor might not be extremely useful to your profession. The Moth Collector, Clarice Roden, can be found just across the way from Yannick underneath the shade of her tents. For 3 Cryptmoss Worm Larvae, Clarice will provide you with a level 1 or 2 potion. For those who are able to bring her 2 Cryptmoss Worms, Clarice will give you the latest in pharmaceutical alchemy to reach Stormreach and supply you with 1 serving of Cryptmoss Infusion Energy drink, guaranteed to increase your vitality and Constitution. And of course for 1 Cryptmoss Queen she’ll give you a set of brand new shiny +1 Armor complete with the Cryptmoss Infusion Brand stamp. Peta Flashpin, the Pigment Collector, is one of Stormreach’s aspiring young artists who, insists on mixing her own paints and inks for her work. Peta enjoys painting just outside the Marketplace branch of the House Kundarak Bank, just below the Stone of Change. Peta will reward Stormreach’s bravest with a mixture of both Divine and Arcane products. In exchange for 3 pinch of Glittering Dust, Peta will give you a level 2 Spell Scroll, while for 2 Thimbles of Sparkling Dust, she will hand you a level 3 Wand. And for most obscure Jigger of Luminescent Dust, she will happily supply you with one of her smocks, signed with her special line of signature paints which she claims provide some magical properties to the Robe. More caution is needed here as both Sparkling and Luminescent Dust are rumored to be used in certain Force Damage and Force Damage Critical rituals at the Stone of Change. Davyd Turner is a Ranger who detests the humanoids who slaughtered his kin folk and is collecting trophies consisting of Primitive Tools. Davyd can be found just across the street from the house Phairlan Enclave entrance. For 3 Blades of the Dark Six he will provide you a stack of 20 +1 Arrows or other types of ammunition. For 2 Signets of the Devourer, he will give you a stack of either 20 +2 Arrows or a stack of 20 +2 Cold Iron, or +1 Cold Iron Frost or Shock Arrows. His best deal consists of 1 Shamanic Totem for either a Stack of 20 +1 Goblinoid Bane Arrows or bolts and the like or a +1 Lesser Goblinoid Bane Melee Weapon. This brings us to the final and newest collector to set up shop in the Marketplace. The opening of the Subterranean and the invasion of extra-Planar creatures deep beneath Stormreach attracted the attention of Vagen Taneer to the ruins of the Marketplace Tent. Vagen collects Planar Shards. Planar Shards can be found on corpses of these extra-Planar monsters in the Subterranean. There are even rumors, which I’m working diligently to confirm for our audience that the Invaders in the Waterworks have been seen carrying these Planar Shards as well. Vagen is interested in getting his hands on as many of these shards as he can, for what purposes, we do not know and do not dare to ask. As such he will gladly takes these shards off of your hands in various amount ranging from 10, 25 50 and alas many as 100 Planar Shards. For 10 he will give you either an Alabaster, Emerald or Onyx statue of the 12 with effects of 3x Mass Cure Moderate Wounds, 1 charge of Panacea, and the power to raise the dead 1 time respectively. For 25 Planar Shards, he will give you a Jade, Obsidian, or Diamond statue of the Twelve, with powers to grant the user 2 castings of Panacea, raise 2 dead comrades in arms or cast Mass Cure Serious Wounds 5 times. For 50 Planar Shards he will give a Sapphire or Topaz Statue of the Twelve, granting Mass Cure Critical Wounds 5 times or 1 all encompassing Heal Spell. Once all of the power has been drained from these statues, they are believed to crumble to dust. And finally, for 100 Planar shards he will make any adventure’s life easier by supplying you with your choice of a Large Collectable, Gem or Ingredients Bag. Well that is all the time we have this week. Stay tuned, next week when we talk about the Collectors in House Kundarak. And as always if you have any questions or comments feel free to post them in the New & Improved Definitive Collectable List thread on the DDO.com forums or Email Jerry at ddocast@gmail.com, who will pass it along to me. This is Steiner Davion, reminding you to keep collecting and don’t forget to turn them in. |

Starting with episode 3: Things to know III script 10. Bounty bags are found in the harbor and are a good way to familiarize yourself with some of the named monsters in the harbor quests. You collect a bounty bag from one of the green floating bounty poles in the harbor or waterworks. The bag tells you which monster you should kill and a general idea of where it can be found. These are a fun way to solo and relive some of the harbor quests in a new way. Once you’ve killed the mob, double-click the corpse to fill the bounty bag. Return the bag to the bounty pole to receive your reward. 9. Certain weapon effects go off on every hit while others only occur on critical hits. Sigfried has covered this extensively, but I just want to remind you. When choosing your weapons make sure you know your weapon’s critical threat range. It can dramatically affect how your weapon will work. 8. Another ritual at the same stone of change involves making armor or weapons adamantine, making them much harder and able to bypass the damage reduction of some enemies. This is called the adamantine ritual. To do this you will need 10 adamantine ores¬¬¬, 10 essence of Earths and the item you wish to make adamantine. Collect the adamantine ore from the quest A Relic of the Soverign Past. You can pick it up in House D. When running from the entrance of House D to the tavern containing stormcleave, you will pass the Temple of the Sovereign Host. Go inside and talk to Sir Kinze MacDunnam. He will give you the quest. Then you must travel to House K. North of the House Kundarak Bank there is an entrance to the Black Anvil Forest. Go inside and immediately turn to your right. You will fight two dwarves, but the entrance to the Relic is not far. Once inside, be sure to clear out each tunnel off the main room. You will find Ore as large purple gems laying on the ground down one of the tunnels. Usually around 15 spawn each time you do the quest. Once you have 10 you can perform the adamantine ritual. To get the essence of earth, you must have a caster who can cast 8th level spells. Use the spell Trap the Soul to trap Earth Elemental’s Souls. To find the right Elementals, travel to House D. In the Hammersmith’s Inn you will find Scholes of Vedykar. He bestowes the Depths of Discord quest. Enter the quest on Hard carrying Small Khyber Dragonshards. You use these dragonshards and the HD20 version of the spell to trap the CR 7 Earth Elementals’ souls. You’ll need to repeat this until you have 10 captured. Once you have 10 Adamantine ore and 10 Essense of Earth, you can imbue any armor or weapon with Adamantine kind of like Wolverine’s skeleton. 7. Barbarians get 12 hit points per level, the most of any class 6. A word about buffing. First, let’s define buff. A buff is any effect that benefits yourself or some other person for a limited amount of time. Usually buffs appear in the upper right corner of your screen as icons with timers. When the timer expires, so does the buff. Now, everyone likes buffs. Why? They make you better at something. They can give you bonuses to attack, damage, prevent certain types of damage like fire or acid. They can give you more hit points, make your abilities scores go up, or just about any other effect you might be able to think of. For those of you who have buffs to give. Be curteous! When you drop a haste on yourself with everyone else watching but just out of reach, that is just plain rude! Make some kind of short announcement like, “haste coming in 5,” or “I have a bard song to give, but I am waiting until everyone zones in. If you would like it, stay here with me.” Announce what kinds of buffs you have to give so you don’t end up wasting spell points casting a shield of faith on someone with a shield or protection item or a bull’s strength on someone with +4 strength gloves. To those of you who want to receive buffs, be polite! Buffing is often more thankless than healing. As soon as certain fighters get their buffs, they run off and forget the rest of the party. Remember who gave you the love?! Ask the cleric/bard/sorcerer/wizard/ranger/or paladin if they have any buffs to give out. If there is something in particular that your character does well with, let the group know before going into the dungeon. Wizards, rangers, clerics, and paladins can change their spells around and they probably want you to kill things faster so they don’t die. Don’t insist, merely let everyone know that, “hey, I can use bull’s strength if anyone can bequeath it upon me.” Then kindly remind folks when your buff timers expire. I know that I forget to look at my bard song timer, even when I play my bard. A friendly, “Could we have another bard song? I really love them!” will let your songspinner know that you appreciate his songs and that your timer is about to run out. In the end, if we play nice and are considerate of others, we will be more successful in challenging dungeons. Buffs can be pivotal when we challenge our toons so make the best of them and give it up for the buffers! 5. Going down ladders quickly by jumping then recatching 4. Using mithril/darkleaf armor (casters/dex builds) 3. Potions of res20 in meridian usable at lvl6 (Mehander) 2. Sell items to vendors. You get an almost 20% markup on your selling price when selling to specific vendors versus barkeepers or general vendors. Over time that can REALLY add up. Plus your items are available for other people to buy. Someone really needs that CHA +2 bluff +3 necklace for Delera’s! 1. Sell all your stuff to the barkeep to free up space, then visit the vendors later, buying back the items you sold and then sell them to the vendor. You end up still getting the 20% markup and your inventory is clear to loot the Vale yet another time. |

Episode 2: 10. The tumble skill, not the jump skill, reduces the damage you take from falling. 9. Listen allows you to hear hidden enemies. If you have any points in the listen skill, look for your enemy’s footsteps on the ground! 8. Always wait for the cleric or other toon with a high heal skill to stand near you before you shrine. Their heal skill increases the amount of hp you will get after resting. 7. Feat, Enhancement, and Enchanted bonuses stack, but more than one of each type will not increase your ability. For instance, having a +1 enhancement, +2 feat, and +1 enchanted bonus will result in adding 4 to your Strength. Having a +1 enchanted, +2 enchanted, and +1 feat bonus will only result in +3 to your strength. 6. You can refrain from taking that next level in order to continue running lower level quests at a reduced xp penalty. If you run a 5th level quest at 6th level, you inflict a -10% xp penalty on everyone in your group. If you stay 5th level even after you get enough xp to go up to 6th, you can keep earning xp and doing level 5 quests without penalty. Sometimes it pays not to level. 5. Power leveling happens when one group member is more than 3 levels above another and enacts a hefty -80% xp penalty. There is an easy way to tell if you are in the right group. Let’s use this example: a 5, 6, 7, 4, and 8 are all grouped. The 4 complains he is being power leveled. Is he telling the truth? An easy way to tell is count the levels on your 4 fingers. If they all fit, you are good. If not, the lowest levels are being power leveled and will get the huge xp pentalty. 4, 5, 6, 7, (8). The 8 is power leveling the 4. 4. You can now create chat channels to speak with your friends who are not in your guild. Just type /joinchannel <create name> and have your friends do the same. You will remain joined until you remove yourself from the channel. You can speak on the channels quickly by type /1, /2. The number refers to the order in which you joined them. You will remain joined even if you logout. 3. The easiest way to port to Meridia in the Vale is by using the /death command. Most other places in the DDO world can be accessed via the teleport or greater teleport spells. Meridia still cannot. When you start running quests in the Vale, don’t be surprised when folks start dying right after they join the group. They are just “teleporting” to Meridia. 2. Banishers don’t work in the shroud because you are in their home plane. Creatures with banishers should be able to banish you back to your home plane! 1. Macros can be an easy way to reduce repetitive activities. I have a mouse that allows me to program its buttons. It is the Microsoft Natural wireless laser mouse 6000 if you want to know. I have one of the extra buttons programmed to press “backspace” then “u” right after one another. Why you ask? Well, it is an easy way to quickly open doors, talk to NPCs, open chests, and pick up cash or items that drop from broken boxes and monster corpses. I just run up near the thing I want to interact with and press the mouse button. The nearest thing is automatically selected and then used. Walla! I used to leave all the stuff that drops from boxes behind because I didn’t want to run around and double click it. Now I can press my mouse macro button while running by and it just gets picked up! |

Top Ten Monster Complaints about Players adapted from parvo's 8/1/08 post on the DDO forums with his permission shout out to parvo! 10 "The players are constantly moving around making it a pain to target and hit, especially player casters." -Quickfoot Gang - Shoutout to Quinn the Quickfoot. Nice work with that Signet! HA! 9 "Player casters never seem to run out of spell points!" -Chief Eechik of the Gnashtooth Kobolds, always gets interrogated by players in waterworks. 8 "The enemy is always immune to my best attack. I hate you deathblock!" -Doomsphere A Beholder in Ghosts of Perdition, gets killed multiple times and is farmed 7 "Players never drop any good loot!" -Gnarkill the Troll in the Waterworks sewers, kills many players, but the shrine is so close! They keep respawning! 6 "The player AI is broken. If it was fixed, they wouldn't need all those artificial advantages!" -Abbot makes a surprise visit and says, "What are you all complaining about! These players are all chumps. Get off your butts and fight! Geez!" 5 "Traps are a joke! They need to be random." -Shaag from the Cloven-Jaw Hobgoblin Tribe, an all around wuss. How did he ever get a hold of that Seal of Shan-To-Kor? 4 "Players have inflated hitpoints. It only takes one dude to tank me. The rest of the players sit back and do nothing. Why do they always bring so many dudes when most of them just sit around and chat? The dude that I am hitting seems to have infinite hitpoints!" -Storm Reaver in Gianthold, beaten every 3 days by many players, often described as the easies way to loot in the game. He feels very cheated. was supposed to be a badass. All quests leading up to him are MUCH harder than he is. 3 "My AC is broken. Player attack bonuses are too high. Unless my AC is 80+, it's useless!" -Arraetrikos, General of Shavarath, generally very nasty, but players are besting him constantly. Maybe the "always resistant to my spells" category. 2 "Player casters have access to spells we don't have and they do 4x as much damage as ours." -Archbishop Dryden, bored out of his mind. Who needs silver flame favor anyway? 1 "Players always bypass my damage reduction!" -Velah the Red Dragon, still freaks out newbies, and is a pain in the ass to redo. She kicks ass and takes names at appropriate levels, but the hero method is demoralizing. |

Greetings Citizens and brave adventures of Stormreach! It’s that time again, Broadcasting live, from deep within the City of Stormreach, The Antique Road Show is proud to present, “Definitive Collectables.” I’m your host and master collector, Steiner Davion. On Last week’s show we discussed the plethora of collectors found in Stormreach’s Marketplace. This week we enter heavily dwarf populated House Kundarak Enclave section of Stormreach with its 3 collectors of Apparatus, Documents and Lyrics. Our first collector this week is a Warforged named Husk. For those of you who have plundered or are attempting to gain entrance to the Vault of Night, you might recognize Husk as one of Haywire’s employee’s, who guards the entrance to Haywire’s Foundry, just outside the Ever Full Flagon Tavern. Husk is a collector of strange Apparatus. These apparatus though, might not be all that strange and exotic if you are a flesh and blood humanoid, but if you are a Warforged, some of these items might seem a bit odd, and thus worth collecting. Anyway, for 3 Ceramic Bowls, Husk will trade you a Lvl 3 Spell Scroll. For 2 Glass Phials, he will supply a Lvl 3 Spell Wand. Finally for a Crystal Decanter, he will provide you with some of the garter Robes that people have left in his shopping cart, when the mistake him for a homeless vagrant. These Robes are reported to have some type of random magical property on them. Next up on our tour of the House Kundarak Enclave is the Minotaur, Chor Blasthorn. Despite his monsterous appearance, Chor is quite amiable and easy to deal with. Oddly enough, Chor is a huge fan of Music and Lyrics. Those of you looking to find Chor, his is down the street from Liquid Charm. For three Romantic Sonnet’s Chor will trade you a Lvl 3 Spell Scroll, or give you a Lvl 3 spell Wand for 2 Silver Flame Hymnals. Be careful here though, Silverflame Hymnals are also necessary for one of the crafting procedures for the Stone of Change Eldritch devices located outside the Marketplace Bank. Finally, for 1 Tome: Lost Songs of Cyre, Mr. Blasthorn will trade you a small piece of Jewelry, giving you +3 to one random skill or a level 1 spell Clickie with 3 charges. The Final Collector in House Kundarak, is our good old friend Giles Goodman. Prior to recording this segment, we asked Giles if he hangs out in any other part of the city that we haven’t talked to him in yet, and he said now. As always, Giles is seeking rare or otherwise obscure Documents. For three, Cryptic Messages Giles will trade you a lvl 3 Spell Scroll. Or for 2 Scholarly Notes, will give you a lvl 3 wand. Finally, for 1 Tome: Codes of the Aurum, Giles will gladly give you a piece of his signature Jewelry, imbued with a magical property that will surely be of great assistance to you through our your many storied adventures. Well that is all the time we have this week. Stay tuned, next time when we talk about the Collectors in House Jorasco. I apologize that this week’s segment is a little on the short side, but there is not much in House Kundarak to cover,, plus I’ve been busy with things outside the game especially getting ready to start a new job and graduate school. |

Greetings Citizens and brave adventures of Stormreach! It’s that time again, Broadcasting live, from deep within the City of Stormreach, The Antique Road Show is proud to present, “Definitive Collectables.” I’m your host and master collector, Steiner Davion. On Last week’s show we talked about the three collectors found in the House Kundarak Enclave. This week we enter the House Jorasco Enclave. But, first I need to get something off of my chest, so please bear with me as I step up onto my soapbox. Friday afternoon around 3:30pm EDT, Countess Alinda announced that there will be a live event starting that evening in the brand new Phiarlan Event Theater! Many people, me included presumed, quite reasonably, that the even would occur during peak gaming time, or at the very least begin sometime after 7pm. Not only did Turbine fail to give us, its customers and players, adequate notification of this live event, they failed to provide any details at all. In the past, not including the second Anniversary event, Turbine at least gave us a window for each server. Yesterday they failed to do even that. In fact, they didn’t even really tell us where the event was taking place. All they said was that is was in the new House Phiarlan Event Theater, which they have only briefly mentioned in a couple of places on the forums as having being newly renovated. After the initial post at 3:30, , Countess Alinda, only posted one more time, at 6:27pm to clarify that the new event Theater, was actually separate from the House Theater. A half hour later we had confirmation that the even was occurring on Khyber, but, no other news about the even on any other server. So Players everywhere, were left standing around looking for information or the vast and mysterious Dimension Door to appear so that they could get a seat in the limited seating Theater. No specifics as to when, no specifics as to where, and limited admissions. You have got to be kidding me Turbine. Why would you hire someone like Merlask, who has such a great reputation for running incredibly successful live events when she was a player, and then continue to tie her hands with this kind of nonsense. Do you enjoy angering your player base this way? Do you want them to get so fed up and annoyed with their favorite MMO, that they leave for the next hot up and coming game to hit the stores? Usually I am a big fan you Turbine and always willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but this is, this is just ridiculous. ABSOLUTELY Ridiculous. As much as I think it would be cool to get myself one of those colorful lucky hats, I will not waste any more time on any live event that you hold. I have better things to do with my time then wait around all night for nothing to happen. I could have been questing instead of wasting time waiting for my chance to be one of the lucky few to get into the event. Live Event! MORE LIKE A DEAD EVENT!!! Poor decision Turbine, very poor decision. If you were having technical problems with the event or something you should have said something. If the event was going to be late afternoon, early evening you should have said so up front. In short you should have given your loyal customers just a bit more information so that no one was left standing around wondering what the heck was happening or not happening. Ok I’ll step down now. I apologize to all my fellow gamers, but it had to be said. Now, our first collector this week is Mantakan, the Beetle Collector. He is located just outside the building next to the Drowning Sorrows Tavern. The Beetles that Mantakan collects can be found crawling around giant purple mushrooms, so be sure to look for them around those mushrooms. For 3 Duskbrood Trumpets Mantakan will brew you either a Cure or Repair Serious Potion. For 2 Headsman’s Delight, he will supply you with the latest in breath fresheners, Arrowmint Leaves, guaranteed to make your breath smell fresher, making the ladies fall in love with you by increasing your Charisma similar to the effects of Eagles Splendor. Now for 1 Executioner Beetle he will trade you a set of +1 Armor with a random special effect or a set of plain +2 Armor. Our next collector, Farrik Foe Cleaver is a Fungus Collector. Farrik can be found behind on the backside of the building behind the House Jorasco Auctioneer. For 3 Sour Darkcaps he will brew you either a Potion of Cure or Repair Serious Wounds. For 2 Fragrant Drowshod, Farrik will be more than happy to cook you up some of his soon to be patented untraceable Growth Hormones. His Spicy Fungal Gumbo is currently all the rage among the athletes here in Stormreach. This effect is a non-magical version of 3 Bull’s Strength, so you can easily get past any magic detection screenings. For 1 Flowering Hellscap he will forge you a set of +1 Armor with a random effect or a set of +2 Armor. This brings s to our third and final collector in House Jorasco, Verisgante, the Goth Vampire wanna be and Talisman collector. Verisgante, can be located near the pool behind House Jorasco. For 3 Amulets of the Lost Empire, Verisgante will supply you with a stack of +1 or +2 Ammunition possibly with some special effect upon them. For 2 Amulets of the Six, he will give you a stack of +1 to +3 Ammunition, which again might have a special effect upon them. Finally for 1 Amulet of the Archbishop, he will give you a stack of +1 Giant Bane Ammunition, or a +1 Lesser Giant Bane Melee Weapon. Well that is all the time we have this week. I am sorry for going off and ranting at the beginning there, but how many times does it take for Turbine to realize that players do not like being left standing around in the dark wondering when things will happen? Stay tuned, next time when we talk about the Collectors in House Deneith. As always if you have any questions or comments feel free to post them in the New & Improved Definitive Collectable List thread on the DDO.com forums (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=155251) or Email Jerry at ddocast@gmail.com, who will pass it along to me. This is Steiner Davion, reminding you to keep collecting and don’t forget to turn them in, and as always be safe and keep your head down. |

Greetings Citizens and brave adventures of Stormreach! It’s that time again, Broadcasting live, from deep within the City of Stormreach, The Antique Road Show is proud to present, “Definitive Collectables.” I’m your host and master collector, Steiner Davion. On Last week’s show we talked about the three collectors found in the House Jorasco Enclave. This week we will be entering the Enclave of House Deneith. But first a few moments of your time, as I’d like to say a few more words about the recent live events. As most of us know last weekend, Turbine decided to open up the doors to the NEW Phiarlan Event Theater to small limited audiences. While I initially applauded them for hosting more live events, my initial praise quickly turned to frustration for the poor way in which it was conducted. My feeling were echoed through over 10 pages of the thread discussing the event. It was not until Sunday afternoon, that we heard from anyone at Turbine about the event after their few initial posts announcing the event. Around 2pm Eastern Tolero, finally chimed in to clear a few things up. Namely that 1) That is was just the first round and they were starting small to make sure nothing breaks. All well and good, but they needed to be more up front about this from the get go. 2) That they are still planning on more wacky monster craziness and Festivault goodness, but these events are being splashed in at random times, so if you miss one you can catch another. Again all well and good, but be more upfront from the start. DO NOT set player expectations so high, that they will easily crushed when you fail to meet them. Let us know this is a small test, let us know where it will be and how to get there, and for the love of the game please tell us that you will make an Announcement in Game, and that there is no need to camp out waiting. What did Turbine expect would happen when they announced another live event? Did they expect players to behave any differently from past events? Players will always camp out waiting for it to happen if they are not given any information that would suggest or even tell them that it is not necessary, ESPECIALLY when you say seating is limited. 3) She announced that they are moving away from announced Day, Time & Server because of the limited participation and camping decrease performance. Well that is all fine and dandy, but when you do make an announcement, make sure you provide enough information so that people are not left wondering where it is, if it is still open, or even if it is over with. I tried asking an in game GM if the even had already occurred on my server, and they gave me the usual BS line that they cannot reveal any information about the game. But Tolero did agree that a message saying the Theater is full would be a good idea. But what about permanent doors with a message saying the there is no even scheduled or that the theater is full, instead of a Dimension Door like one forum poster suggested? 4) Finally she mentioned that for more “world changing” or “broad” events with much larger player participation, they will be making announcements with more detail information about when and where and what we can expect to see. My only problem here is that we will get another event like the Devil invasion during which everyone wait around for excessively long periods of time between Devil spawns, and if you were not right next to the Devil when it spawned to just simply got to look around and wait, just like this recent event. Now, back to our regularly schedule programming. Our first collector this week is Infernal Essence Collector, Tara Wightraven, located just out the door of the Anvil Fire Inn. Infernal Essences can be found on the dead bodies of such extra planar creatures as Flesh Renders, Fire Reavers and Ice Flensers. If you remember back in the second installment of Definitive Collectables, I mentioned that someone had told me that Planar Shards, like the ones you get in the Subterranean, could also be found in “Invaders.” After much effort, I did some investigation, and verified that this rumor is totally FALSE. That is Right, FALSE. In fact what the Invaders do drop are in fact Planar Crystals. For 3 of these Planar Crystals, Ms. Wightraven will provide you with either +1 or +2 Ammunition or a Returning Throwing weapon. All of which might have a special metal property as well. For 2 Planar Spoors, she will supply +1, +2 or +3 Ammunition or a Returning weapon, again with the possibility of a special metal property. And for 1 Planar Talisman, she will give you a +1 Lesser Evil Outsider Bane Melee Weapon or a +2, +3 or even +4 returning weapon. If it is +2 it will have a special metal property, while +3 or +4 returns Might have a special metal property. Our next collector is the Elemental Essence Collector, Flintchip Fireson, who can be found to the left of Dragon Tooth Arms. As his profession implies, Elemental Essences can be found on the bodies of dead Elementals. For 3 Smoldering Embers, Flintchip will supply +1 Elemental Ammunition or a +1 Returning Weapon, which may have metal Property as well. For 2 Polished Ore, he will provide +3 Silver Throwing Ammunition, while for 1 Elemental Ingot he will craft you +1 Elemental Bane Ammunition or a +1 Lesser Elemental Bane Weapon. Next up is the third and final original collector in House Deneith, Medicinal Spore Collector – Chirugeon, Laj’ Amal. Laj’ is down the street to the South from Lion's Head Armory, behind the Hammersmith Inn. For 3 Bruised Spore Pods, he will brew you a Potion of Cure or Repair Moderate or even Serious Wounds. For 2 Intact Spore Pods, he will brew you 2 or 3 doses of Spore Sap, an all natural herbal equivalent to a Divine Cure Moderate Wounds spell. And for 1 Flowering Spore Pod he will reward you with a set of +2 Armor. All of these fungus can be found on or near the purple variety of mushrooms. There is another group of Mysterious collectors hidden away high atop House Deneith, the Long Awaited Missing House Deneith Collectors. These collectors give two types of potions, Potions of Skill or Potions of Influence. Potions of Skill add an alchemical bonus to skills affected by that particular skill, while Potions of Influence, provide a temporary alchemical bonus to their particular Stat. These effects DO Stack with other magical means of increasing the appropriate skills or Stats. The first of these long awaited collectors is, Drow Artifact Collector, Zolor Drexxian. For 3 Chipped Bone Talismans he will give you a +1 Potion of Skill or Influence. For 2 Ivory Scorpion Icons a +2 Potion of Skill or Influence. And for 1 Tear of Vulkoor a +3 Potion of Skill or Influence. Drow Artifacts can be found mostly in the Desert and Desert Quests. Next is Text Collector, Mayda Yarrowmill. For 3 Mystical Formulae she will give you a +1 Potion of Skill or Influence. For 2 Academic Treatises a +2 Potion of Skill or Influence. And for 1 Tome: Alchemist's Chapbook she will brew you a +3 Potion of Skill or Influence. Next is, Fungus Collector, Tarbox. The Fungus Tarbox is looking for come mostly if not exclusively from the Restless Isles. For 3 Ruddy Fungi he will provide a+1 Potion of Skill or Influence. For 2 Bloodfest Fungi a +2 Potion of Skill or Influence. Finally for 1 Sanguine Moth he will hand over a +3 Potion of Skill or Influence. Have you noticed the pattern here yet? The fourth and final Missing House Deneith Collector is Ritual Paraphernalia Collector, Maxon Dreamwalker. For 3 Blessed Candles you will receive a +1 Potion of Skill or Influence. For 2 Silver Bowls a +2 Potion of Skill or Influence. And last, but not least for 1 Ritual Athame a +3 Potion of Skill or Influence. It is important to note that the locations of these “Missing” collectors may be missing or incorrect when you examine the collectable itself. They also show up under the Marketplace Collectors in your collectable bags, instead of under House Deneith. Well that is all the time we have this week. Stay tuned, next time when we talk about the Collectors in House Phiarlan. As always if you have any questions or comments feel free to post them in the New & Improved Definitive Collectable List thread on the DDO.com forums (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=155251) or Email Jerry at ddocast@gmail.com, who will pass it along to me. Caster Corner Episode 8: The Caster Corner Episode 8 I know, I know it’s been what 2…3 months, it’s been a long time, but I’m back here to make more segments, yay. Okay so some of you are wondering, who is this guy? So let me introduce myself. I am Mical the Wise and this is the Caster Corner; here we talk about everything about casters whether it be spells or hit points or feats. If some of you want to listen to the first episodes of The Caster Corner, um the first episode is on DDOCast episode 61. So here we go, this week level 3 spells. They are: Deep Slumber, Dispel Magic, Displacement, Fireball, Flame Arrow, Halt Undead, Haste, Heroism, Lightning Bolt, Magic Circle against Evil, Protection from Energy, Rage, Ray of Exhaustion, Repair serious Damage, Sleet Storm, Stinking Cloud, Suggestion, Summon Monster 3, and Water Breathing. The most important spells here for a typical caster are: Displacement, Fireball, Haste, Heroism, and Protection from Energy. Displacement causes a 50% chance for attackers to miss you completely. Fireball does 1d6 fire damage, max of 10d6, successful reflex save does half damage. Haste gives you a 40% boost to movement speed, attack 25% faster, +1 to attacks, +1 to AC and +1 reflex save. Heroism gives a +2 bonus to attacks, saves and skill checks. Protection from Energy reduces all elemental damage from the spell you cast of 10 times your level. Good crowd control spells include Sleet Storm and Stinking Cloud. Sleet Storm creates an icy layer under the target causing half speed and a chance to blind the target. Stinking cloud creates a cloud that nauseates foes and conceals those that are inside it. Repair Serious damage is good for warforge that are in the party, it heals them 3d6+1 per caster level of hit points. Alright, short segment this week, next time, level 4 spells. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please reach me in-game, on the forums or send an email to DDOcast@gmail.com. So to all my caster brothers and sisters I bid farewell and thanks for the buffs. Music: “Let’s Go To The Market” by: Turbine - thnx for the great music Mical the Wise |

Episode 10 Hello again everyone, this is the caster corner episode 10. This week we are looking at level 5 spells but first I would like to talk about mod 8. I love what they’ve done. I love the harbor, I love the marketplace, I love the new outdoor areas, I love everything. My favorite new update is when you hover your mouse over an icon in the hotbar like a spell of ability, a little yellow icon appears. Now no should be getting spells mixed up. The new player experience is amazing. Everything was done exceptionally well. When I first heard about it I thought it would take maybe 10 or 15 minutes to complete. I made a bard and it took me 3 hours to do everything on Korthos Island. The quest line is really cool. It was all done very well so congrats turbine for an awesome preview of mod 8. So onto the Caster Corner. This week we are looking at level 5 spells. They are: Ball lightning, Break enchantment, Cloudkill, Cone of Cold, Dismissal, Dominate person, Feeblemind, Hold monster, Mind fog, Protection from elements, summon monster 5, teleport, and waves of fatigue. Only 13 spells, it’s a very small list to choice from, and most of the spells aren’t very useful but there are some good ones in there. So, Some good spells for a typical caster are Cone of Cold, Cloudkill, Hold Monster, Protection from Elements, and teleport. Cone of Cold is similar to Burning Hands, when cast a cone of cold shoots out from in front of you doing 1d6 cold damage/ level, reflex save does half damage. When cloudkill is cast a small green cloud is made, and creature that is in the cloud takes 1d4 con damage, fortitude reduces damage by half. Also those in the cloud receive concealment. Hold monster is a very useful spell, when you cast it, it holds the monster in place and whenever you hit it every attack becomes a crit. The spell lasts 6 seconds / caster, the target makes a will save every 3 seconds. Next is protection from elements. This is a new spell coming into mod 8. It is similar to protection from energy, but instead of one single energy it protects from all the energies in one spell, sounds pretty cool. Teleport lets you travel to predestined places. You can choose from the Marketplace, House D, House J, House K, House P, The portable hole and in mod 8 Meridia. In case any of you are wondering the portable hole is a small tavern in the middle of no where. There you can buy every scroll if you can buy it in stormreach. There is also a tavernkeep, priest and general vendor and a mailbox so it’s a cool place. One last thing feeblemind is a nasty spell to get if you’re a caster. If casted upon you your intelligence and charisma scores are reduced to 1, so you can’t cast any spells, a simple way to remove, is actually drinking of mnemonic potion of any size, so I bet a couple of you out there didn’t know that. Alright that does it for this visit to the Caster Corner, next time, level 6 spells. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please reach me in-game, on the forums or send an email to DDOcast@gmail.com. Sorry my friendly sarlonians that are running the abott, won’t be with you next week I know this includes jerry and bussaw, so yeah sorry. So to all my caster brothers and sisters I bid farewell and thanks for the buffs. Music: “Let’s Go To The Market” by: Turbine |

Greetings Citizens and brave adventures of Stormreach! It’s that time again, Broadcasting live, from deep within the City of Stormreach, The Antique Road Show is proud to present, “Definitive Collectables.” I’m your host and master collector, Steiner Davion. On Last week’s show we ventured out into Tangleroot Gorge before heading off to explore the Necropolis and Orchard of the Macabre. This week we journey out into the ancient Gianthold Tor in search of ancient relics. There are ten different collectors located throughout the Gianthold. Of these ten, 7 of them are interested in Ancient relics. Three of the collectors require 20 ancient relics, one collector for each of the 3 different types. By turning 20 ancient relics of each types into their appropriate Giant/Quest giver and collector, requiring a total of 60 Ancient Relics, you will be granted access to The Stormreaver Pre-Raid. Nimbus ar’Yorg of the Storm’s Eye requires that you give him 20 Dragon Relics. Dragon Relics can be found in the Prison of the Planes, Foundation of Discord, and Cry for Help quests. Prison of the Planes can drop up to 3 relics per person. Jorgundal ar’Grund, of the Storm’s Fist requires 20 Elf Relics, which can be found in the Crudible, Feast or Famine or Cable for One. He will be happy to trade you 1 Ancient Relic of your choice for 3 Ancient Relics of any other type. The other collectors require 20 relics in return for crafting you a set of armor. These Armors are Bind-on-Acquire. Horatin in the Storms Eye encampment is a collector of Ancient Dragon Relics. Top Ten uses for bards in DDO Honorable mentions go to Buffing You Buffing ME Buffing others Fascinate Songs vs. beholders Crowd control spells Nominations that were completely ignored Healing Raising dead General Cleric stuff Fighting Casting offensive spells: have you seen shout? And on to the top ten: 10. Ghostly Beholder bait: Here Mr. undead beholder…Look over here! 9. Moral support. Would you stop singing that same friggin song over and over and over again!!!! It is inspiring me to kick your ass! 8. Tanking kobolds 7. Holding instances when everyone dies. Prolly because we had a bard in the first place. 6. Holding loot for the other players when they run out of inventory space…He is a walking party mule! Yea! 5. Providing the cleric with more healing wands and plat. Come on, you know he was healin that bard more than anyone else in the quest anyway. 4. Running around like a chicken with his head cut off and generally being useless. 3. Casting charm spells on monsters when the next door is triggered by their deaths. 2. Something to laugh at when he casts shout on nearby mobs, attracting all of their attention but doing little to no damage. 1. Soloing 1st and 2nd level quests on elite at 16th level Standing on one of the door switches in Von 5 No seriously folks…Bards are a serious and useful character class in DDO. With enough training and skill, you too can splash bard into another class and have a truly viable toon. Just don’t let me catch you monoclassing one. Noob. |

Hello And Welcome to Xilo Vs Stormreach! Today i'm going to have my list of the WORST! spells in pvp First of let me say this is what i think and does not reflect anyone else but myself. The top 10 Worst spells for wizards and sorcs in PVP #10: Hold Person - Hold monster has a better Dc rather then Hold person Only use hold person if your lower lvl. #9: Greater Shout - As Rheebus pointed out last week It's USELESS!! #8: Force Missiles - 90% of the DDO pvp Pop Has Shield or night shield #7:Melf's Acid Arrow - Does not do enough Damage anymore to be helpful at any lvl #6: Ice Storm - Unless your enemy is standing still dont expect this to hit anyone. #5: Enervation - Only really a bad spell if used with Flesh to stone #4:Flesh to Stone - Do not use with Enervation to hold players down in the pit unless you want to get yourself banned. #3:Power Word: Stun - Only the lowest of low Casters will use this just to get a kill No saves just stunned #2: Otto's Irresistible Dance - Same as above No saves just get owned So dont use this unless you want to be hated by everyone #1:Suggestion - Everyone is Immune! And now for the the list of the WORST cleric spells for PVP #10: Flame Strike - When has this spell Ever been usefull? #9: Soundburst - Useless as shout #8: Chaos Hammer - Not big dmg and some are immune #7: Greater Command - Does not affect half the ddo pvp pop anymore Evil Will Saves! #6: Hold Person - Same as Wizards and Sorcs #5:Order's Wrath - Same as Chaos Hammer #4:Bestow Curse - unless it hits them first time and then follows up with a Slay living or destruction it is useless #3: Cause Fear - To easy to save. #2:Inflict Critical Wounds - If they save they take half dmg not worth the Sps to cast #1: Poison - Only if there low lvl or you get VERY LUCKY will this work. Episode 12 Hello everyone, and welcome to the caster corner. Today we are looking at level 7 spells. These spells are Banishment, Control Undead, Delayed Blast Fireball, Finger of Death, Greater Teleport, Mass Hold Person, Mass Invisibility, Otto’s Sphere of Dancing, Power Word: Blind, Mass Protection from Elements, Summon Monster VII, Symbol of Stunning, Symbol of Weakness, Waves of Exhaustion. The best spells in the level 7 list are Finger of Death, Greater Teleport, Hold Person, Mass, Otto’s Sphere of Dancing, and Protection from Elements, Mass. Finger of Death is probably my favorite spell, when casted the target must make a fortitude save or instantly die. If they save they take 3d6 +1 per caster level of damage instead. Greater teleport is a useful spell when you want to bring your whole party to a specific destination. The destinations are Zawabi’s Refuge, Restless Isles, Twilight Forge, Gianthold, Necroplois, Meridia and the Portable Hold. There one drawback to this spell is that you can’t cast it in public, which means you can’t gather your party in like the marketplace to travel to meridian. The easiest way to get around this is to just step into a quest and teleport from there. The most common quest is Tempest spine, since it is a raid that doesn’t need any pre-reqs to enter. This is a very useful spell to get to the Titan raid. One of the locations, the Twilight Forge is the entrance to the Titan Raid quest. There is a way to get there on foot, but I’ve never seen it before since we always teleported. Alright next spell, Hold Person, Mass. This is a very useful crowd control spell against Humanoid races which are Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Halflings warforged, and Half-Orcs and Half-elves when they come into the game, hopefully. This spell is similar to Hold Person, but in an Area of Effect. When you cast it the enemy has to make a will save or be held in place. When you attack held creatures, every time you hit them your hits become critical hits. Next Otto’s Sphere of Dancing, another nice crowd control spell. When you cast it, creatures that enter the area of effect have to make a will save or be paralyzed in place. Lastly Protection from Elements, mass. A very useful spell when giving out Protections. When you cast everyone around you gains every protection from energy spell, so they get Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire and Sonic protection in just one spell. It’s a great way to save spell points. But don’t forget that when you cast this that you should also give resists to them. I hope the devs create Resist Energy or Resist Elements, Mass in the new feature. Alright, so that was this visit to the Caster Corner, next time, level 8 spells, the last of the spell lists, YAY. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please reach me in-game, on the forums or send an email to DDOcast@gmail.com. So to all my caster brothers and sisters I bid farewell and thanks for the buffs. Music: “Let’s Go To The Market” by: Turbine |

Episode 15 Hello everyone and welcome to the Caster Corner. Today we are going to look at ways of conserving mana. So the first thing we do is look at the party makeup. If there are tanks that can DPS you want to stick to buff spells. If the casters are the DPS….uh we’ll get into that. So, some of the buffs that will make your party members happy are: Jump, Blur, Greater Heroism, Resist Energy spells, Protection spells, and Stoneskin. If you want to make a great first impression as a caster, give out buffs to teammates at the start of the quest. Okay, so you are the DPS, what do you do? So you want to use good single target spells and AoE spells at the right times. Use AoE spells when you know there is a big group of monsters up ahead. Use single target spells for well, obviously single targets. What I’m saying is don’t use a firewall or other AoE for one little kobold. Onto Metamagic feats. Metamagic feats can be very useful at times and other times they may drain your spell points. I suggest only using extended spells at the beginning of a dugeon. Also use empower and maximize only sparing say like on AoE spells, unless you know you have enough spell points to dish it out all day, but likely chances are you don’t. Now this is a rule of thumb to myself when casting extended buffs, I never like casting extended Stoneskin, Greater Heroism, False Life or Protection from Elements, even though Protection from elements doesn’t let you extend. Why you might ask? All these spells give you temporary hit points or Damage resistance. And when you take damage the first thing that goes away is temporary hit points and the Protection from Elements. So usually these spells were of in a couple of minutes, so there is no point in extending it since they will come off in a minute. So that does it for this lesson with the Caster Corner, hopefully these will help those that keep running out of mana. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please reach me in-game, on the forums or send an email to DDOcast@gmail.com. So to all my caster brothers and sisters I bid farewell and thanks for the buffs. Music: “Let’s Go To the Market” by: Turbine |
