28 July 2008 | Monday | Cinnamon My Love He finally stood up to his controlling mother. If anyone asks, Here's what happened. He had an itch on his neck, and I thought some Vitamin E oil might soothe it away. Unfortunately, I got the Vitamin E oil mixed up with a bottle of acidic poly-something, and it ended up making the rash worse. To keep him from scratching, I wrapped my windbreaker around his neck. His mother, upon coming to pick us up and drive us to their house, noticed the windbreaker and assumed it was to cover a hickie. She started verbally attacking Bastion, and when he tried to defend himself, she started yelling more. EVRYN Wait, so, Mummie Dearest is getting butthurt over her adult son *covering* a possible hickey? What kind of bass-ackwards society do these people live in? CIN I was too ashamed to mention the acid; who would want someone else's mother knowing they dripped chemical compounds on their son? EVRYN Audience 1 isn't here, so I feel like I should interject on her behalf. CIN Aside from that, I don't think she would have believed me; how many girls go round with bottles of vitamin oil and acidic chemicals? EVRYN looks at Epiphany CIN So I just listened, blushing, saying nothing. EVRYN Probably less convincing than speaking up would have been, but okay. CIN The argument changed-- when Bastion stood up to his mother, she accused him of being disrespectful and demanded that he apologise. When he refused, she said that I wasn't allowed to be there if Bastion couldn't learn to show some respect. She demanded that we both get back in the car and she'd drive me to the bus stop. Bastion refused this as well. She yelled more, swore at him, may have threatened him (I don't remember), but still he refused to budge. EVRYN What the actual tits is wrong with this woman? Is she on some kind of drugs that we don't know about? CIN Finally, it was decided that he would walk me to the bus stop, and I haven't seen him since. The truth: At first they argued about whose neck it was in his mom's house-- EVRYN Bodily autonomy? What's that? Something you eat? CIN -- and whether it was her house or the government's house. He told her to fuck off. She tried to demand respect. It occurs to me that somewhere during the verbal altercation, Bastion reminded his mother of the time she tried to have him falsely imprisoned. She became flustered and even more angry, saying that was against the point. In any case, the human habit of trying to demand respect is both foolish and annoying. Respect is something that is given freely by others because one has earned it. Bastion's mother booted him from the house because she is too immature and unwise to have realised this. He began to walk WITH me to the bus stop. Partway there, he told me to wait while he grabbed some things. One was a monkey-shaped bank containing money he'd been saving. He told me later that his mom had watched him gather those last things. We counted the money partway there. $300+ Enough to get him to Delaware and feed himself til Corri could pick him up. He rode with me to my stop, where I got off and he stayed on. The next day, he emailed me saying he got to the greyhound station in Gilroy alright. No word yet on if he's OOCA. I'm adjusting to his absence. It's going well so far, and I did cry to see him go, unlike with Ash. I hope he'll get there and survive alright, wherever he's going in life. It will be different for even me to find him, but somehow I will. It will be better for him to make anew life for himself without everyone else's influence. It will give me time to reinvent myself as well. [LATER] Well, he made it there.... |
