Some people just don't have them. I mean... let's see... there are the people who complain about their personal lives on the Internet (I'm one of those)... there are the people who rally other people in campaigns against their "enemies" (I used to be one of those)... there are people who don't know how to differentiate between close friends/relatives and complete strangers... there are people who just don't care when they're getting a little too personal.

Song change: Riot by Three Days' Grace

Earlier this week, I was over at my fiancé's house. His grandmother was visiting from England. Now... we got to talking. She asked me about school. I told her I was planning to apply to Harvard.

SIGYN
Wait, I thought it was your childhood dream to go to Stanford?

CIN
She asked me if I was sure I was going to get in, in a tone of voice that implied that she didn't think I would.

SIGYN
This was the first time you'd met, correct? I can tell, just from that.

I said, "No, but if I work hard enough it's worth a shot, right?" I said I was interested in a legal career, and she basically assumed that I wanted to advocate for women's rights.

Song change: Move by Thousand Foot Krutch

Let me get one thing straight, dear readers: Man, woman, white, black, pink with purple polka dots, I don't care. I make no distinctions between human creatures except by their behavior and my personal interactions with them. Furthermore, as far as women's rights go... Well, from what I've observed, women are already equal to men. Now they want to be superior, and there are a lot of self-righteous, pretentious women out there. I know because Libby Bandurr was one.

Song change: Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood

So no, I think women's rights are fine the way they are. I want to go into criminal defense law... and then she starts lecturing me out of the blue. Why is it that every adult I run across feels the need to lecture me about my life choices, and how to achieve my goals? I did not ASK for anyone's advice in this instance, and I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE being patronised.

Later she asked what I was wearing under the skirt I'd worn into the pool (I'd had to tie up and tuck under, because I'd been planning to-- well, anyway, it didn't work out), and I just gave her a patented blank look. I think she was about to lecture me on proper pool attire, but I just ducked under the water and stayed there for awhile. When I came up, it looked like she was going to say something else, so I just went right back underwater again.

Seriously...

Song change: Bad Touch by the Bloodhound Gang

Some people really do have no boundaries. When I told Batsion about this later, he said his grandmother was bugging him about it too. Alright, but he's her family. Family bugs family-- that's just how it goes. I'm practically a stranger to the woman. What gives her the right to start lecturing me?

(By the way... she doesn't know that I'm engaged to her grandson. If she did, then yeah, since in-laws are also supposed to annoy each other, I can see how that would be appropriate, but as it is, HELLO?!)

Oh and Bastion... You couldn't have warned me BEFOREHAND that your grandmother likes to criticise people?!
