So people can chat about the PS3 :-)

Recently got given a copy of Killzone 3 for review. It's... alright. I'm not the biggest fan of FPSers in the world, and this one isn't really standing out for me, but it's good fun nonetheless.

The more I read about the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, the more excited I am about playing the game.

After playing the first game again for a review, I realised I really do like this series (in concept anyway), even though I tend to forget about it, and some of the games are woeful.

The fact there are some horror elements in the new game interests me too. It's about time Tomb Raider had a more mature, dark turn. Too long it's been a mere flight of fancy - I've always thought the series could be... more.

not a big tomb raider fan...They were alright til I discovered the Uncharted series. I vastly preferred the more-combat less-awkward-environments emphasis...and it's hard not to fall in love with the presentation. Still--I've got my eyes on the reboot.

My next PS3 excitement comes in the form of Portal 2 and PS3 steam support. Absolutely beside myself with excitement--can't wait to multiplay!

After that Infamous 2 is coming :) :). Infamous was my introduction to open world games and was the first game I've ever bought immediately after playing the demo. Granted I'm also gonna need money for RE: The Mercs 3D and Kid Icarus...June's gonna be an expensive month :D
most recent game I've made: Quest Against Monsters (demo)
Project status: defunct (lost it in a hard drive crash a few months ago

I've always 'liked' the Tomb Raider series, never 'loved' it. I did play Underworld not too long ago, but I agree that Uncharted was better (I just beat the first one a few weeks or so ago. I have #2, and plan to play it somewhat soon, but I am working over Mortal Kombat still). Gotta hate the PSN situation though. I have a fair # of PSN games too that I play - the Final Fight one doesn't work w/ the network down though - which is a bummer. A big argument against capcom's DRM approach to that release.

Killzone 3 was okay. I'm not that into fps either but it served it's purpose.

The new Tomb Raider does look pretty crazy. The next game I'm getting for the PS3 is Deus Ex. That games looks fun

Were you a fan of the original Deus Ex games (who wasn't)? I agree, this new one looks brilliant. Eidos is doing so well now it's part of Square Enix.

That was a good pick up from Square Enix. I do think Edios is better because of it too.

The world and characters are pretty stellar looking and I always enjoy a game where you can sneak your way in without a peep from the guards.

That's my interest in the game as well. There's far too few genuine stealh FPSers now. The fact that that's just one way to go about things in this game is good too - it means everyone can enjoy the game :D

I have to say that what I've seen of the game intrigues me, but I've never played the originals either so I'm not quite as invested in picking the new Deus Ex up when it comes out. It's always looked like an interesting series - too many games, too little time... ;)

This.

Except I'm getting it on PC. With the way modding is these days, it would be masochistic not to get to try out all the awesome things people will come up with.

On-topic: I've been playing through Hunted: The Demon's Forge with a friend of mine. It's great fun: I love couch co-op and Hunted is the best example of it I've seen in far too long. Anyone else tried it?

I haven't tried hunted yet - but a buddy of mine got it recently and is nearly done with it. When he's done, he's going to loan it to me (xbox version) for my son and I to play through. :)

Oh mods. I really liked all the mods for the Fallout series! They can be fun but I think I'll stay with the console of Deus Ex just because it's been awhile since I got a PS3 game. It's feeling neglected.. unless you count the free inFamous game :D

I'm playing Portal 2 on the PS3 right and holyfuck it's good. Not only is the gameplay solid as to be expected from Valve, but the controls are among the tightest I've tested on the PS3.

I borrowed this from a friend on the 360 - but I am considering grabbing it on the cheap for the ps3 eventually because of how cool I thought it was. Glad to hear it translated well to PS3 as well, and the integration with Steam on the PC was a nice perk compared to the 360 version I'm told as well.

Yes, it's a pretty solid experience on the PS3. I think I'm about halfway through and so far I've yet to experience any jank that was so apparent in the Orange Box port for the PS3. I going to check it out on Steam to compare but I think it's no less enjoyable on the console.

Nick's been busy - turned in an awesome review of Section 8 as well.

Such a good review it even makes me want the game, and aside from Crysis 2, I don't like modern FPSers.

It's actually quite a fantastic game, Matt! I was pleasantly surprised: I had played the original Section 8 when it was released back in '09 and was left a little underwhelmed. While it certainly had some good features and was different enough to catch my interest, the lack of a single-player campaign was a big minus for me and it still was fairly unpolished.

Prejudice, on the other hand, is a great game. They really took the criticism for Section 8 to heart and did a fantastic job of turning the end product into something worth playing. I especially like the objective-based gameplay and how they can meld them with regular deathmatch rules to create a multiplayer game with more direction than your standard Call of Duty match.

I'd definitely check it out, if you have the spare cash on hand.

I haven't played Crysis 2, though I loved the original. I'm pretty low on cash at the moment, especially with Deus Ex: Human Revolution right around the corner. But it's worth picking up, I take it?

I think so. It's a reasonably long campaign, the multiplayer is less of a focus, and there's marginally more room to explore than the usual "corridor" format that the modern FPSer has adopted.

Plus, it looks and sounds great.
