The 3DS has still yet to really hit its stride, but it's still a good console, and thanks to the DS back catalogue, it's capable of playing a lot of really good games. So let's talk 3DS! In a bid to kick start the chat, here's my top 20 games based on play time so far on the 3DS (out of a total of 50 so far and more to come... I have a lot of DSiWare). 1 Samurai Warriors Chronicles 2 Final Fantasy III 3 Dead or Alive Dimensions 4 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars 5 Dragon Quest Monsters 6 Tennis (Virtual Console) 7 Ashphalt 3D 8 Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3D 9 Dragon Quest VI 10 Boom Boom Squaries 11 The Clone Wars 12 Super Mario Land (Virtual Console) 13 Kubos 14 Alleyway (Virtual Console) 15 Zenonia 16 The Sims 3 17 Soul of Darkness 18 Phantasy Star 0 19 Donkey Kong (Virtual Console) 20 Zelda: Link's Awakening DX |

My top two are Dead or Alive: Dimensions and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Speaking of which, OoT is quite enjoyable. It's not really essential for people who have already played it numerous times, but it gives an excuse to play it again.

Dragon Quest Wars? I love that game! We should play some time! I'm a big fan of activity logs, trophies and all that. I never feel the need to go hunting for achievements (or deliberately play a game to get its hours up), but I do like tracking wwhat I'm playing

Yeah it's my most used software on the system. There's just something about stat watching... must be why I play RPGs so often. I'm in the mists of getting my sea legs back on DQ Wars so you'll have to give me time. Plus, Zelda just came out and Mercenaries is in a few days. Goodness

I figured you'd be a Professor Layton games fan! Love the puzzles, allthough birds jumping on tightropes have the potential to make me want to hurl the DS through the nearest window. Can we call you "the prof" or just "prof" on here? Scypher, I only hope that Zelda lives up to the memories. I also hope I dont get put in a padded room with a straight jacket after hearing 'hey, listen' too many times. |

All those names work even Hershel The Last Specter should be coming out soon and that'll even have the Brownie Brown game London Life on it! Guess that's their "demo" of Fantasy Life that's coming to the 3DS sometime down the road. I just cleared Jabu-Jabu's dungeon and Navi isn't too bad just her usual self.... I am a bit surprised that they still have repeat as the default option with the owl <_< |

As Layton said, Navi is pretty much the same, though she has some new phrases. In the middle of a dungeon, she'll say to visit the Sheikah stones for help, but there...aren't any in the dungeon. She also offers useful advice, telling the player to take a break after playing for a while. As for Kaepora Gaebora (the owl...if that's how you spell it o_O), I think they did that deliberately. He has quite a reputation to uphold, just like the nurses at the Pokemon Center.

Haven't had her say to check out the Sheikah stone yet but got a few break messages. To which I say bah humbug! My average playtime is now resting at 1:52 and four other games sitting near an hour a pop. I take my handheld gaming seriously...Have 14 hearts, the Biggoron's Sword, and my Iron Boots on the I button. Ready for my Longshot Water Temple. |

Best of luck. Whilst I'm guessing your an expert of OOT, that water temple has the potential to test the resolve of the most ardent fan. Remind me, is that before or after the gurido village? Seriously, that village (and hyrule castle sneaking) is up in my top 5 fun 'challenges' in RPG's |

Gurido Valley was the last place you visited. It was the awesomest just for the music. I've just started my Zelda play through. I'm at the second dungeon (the fire dungeon as kid Zelda). It's good memories right there. |

A direct copy/ paste from our story on the front page: At a time where Nintendo has been talking up the improvements its made to its online shopping experience, a number of people have discovered that if anything, things have gone backwards - it now seems that just connecting can be a challenge. A number of people over at the Nintendo Life forums and elsewhere have reported difficulties in accessing the eShop. In that they haven't been able to do so for days. Instead, they get an "error code 005-5691." Meanwhile, their other online services, such as online gaming, Friends lists and Internet browsing, are working fine. The first reported cases started showing up soon after the most recent eShop and 3DS system updates. Nintendo's official line is that that error code has to do with traffic congestion through the network as a result of that. In theory that is a nice solution - just wait for things to calm down - but that must be one pretty congested network for people (such as myself) to be unable to connect for five straight days. If this was the PlayStation Network, it would be time to start rolling out the free games. That's a joke, but if this is the reason behind the outage for those people, then Nintendo might want to rethink that boast about an improving network. If it's the cause of other problems (and those problems would appear to be on Nintendo's end, as all the people reporting the problems, including myself, had access previously), then please fix it quickly, Nintendo. There's some Virtual Console games I'd like to download. We'll be sure to keep you updated as we find out more. In the mean time, please do let us know if you're experiencing eShop difficulties as well. |

Uh-oh that's no good. Just checked but I got online easy peasy. Hope this isn't a taste for things to come like you said. Why boast about the strength of your network when it can't even handle the early adopters... let alone if/when it gets to DS sales numbers. And yeah Navi finally told me I might want to check out the Sheikah Stone for help -.- dang Water Temple. I was just trying to remember where the 3rd water valve was! None the less passed that but man did Shadow Link have my number... I hacked that fight up lol |

Yikes, the eShop thing sounds bad. Layton pretty much summarized my sentiments. They continue to boast about their online experiences and the 3DS, but this is truly worrisome. I never got why the water temple was so maligned and feared, aside from the annoyance of switching on/off the iron boots. I whizzed right through it in this version, though maybe there were more enhancements to make it easier than in the original. I'd say the shadow temple is actually the hardest of the bunch, the fire temple being runner-up.

I admit I used a playguide when I initially tried the Water Temple back on the N64. It'll be interesting to see if I get stuck this time. So far the game is far easier than it was to the kid version of me

I think maybe the open nature of the dungeon. I always had a problem of figuring out where to go next originally with the Water Temple. The update on the boots is a wonderful thing. Having a quick switch is key. I loved saving the Gorgons! Best part about the Fire Dungeon. Love the top room with the rising maze of fire I too am running thru the story pretty quickly he. Making me feel smart but it's probably just reflexes from the days of old. I can still pass the water stage in Earthworm Jim no problem Mercenaries comes out today which comes with a demo of Revelations ♥ but like the used games thread will the 'no save reset' stop a lot of buyers? |

Completely agreed. I found the Water Temple pretty straightforward, compared to some of the others. The Fire Temple was more difficult overall, and I actually found the Forest Temple to be my bane. Those damnable hands and the block puzzles screwed me over so many times I nearly snapped. That and Jabu Jabu's Belly were almost too much for me. I wish I had a 3DS but I simply don't have the money to buy one. One day I might and, when I do, I will get myself Ocarina of Time 3D. Until then, I'll just lament my situation and be jealous of you all. |

Finished up the Spirit Temple. I now have 19 3/4 hearts... I dislike fishing Glad the eShop has a lot more video content. A few are even in 3D! It is funny when you get the disclosure that 3D images appear in 2D unless viewed on a 3DS and here I am watching it on a 3DS and it is still in 2D haha. |

Had a Samurai Warriors marathon over the weekend. God I love that game. Appeals to me at just about every level. I'm just glad my eShop is working again. It saddens me that it's still so inferior compared to the other consoles, but you're right, Layton, the videos are a nice touch. Revelations is a must have, and surprisingly, I'm going to get Lylat Wars - the 3D might just make me enjoy this game the second time around. I liked the video! |
