General Game Information Name of the Game - Even Nicer Shade Of Green Type - llamaserver PBEM (llama link - http://www.llamaserver.net/gameinfo.cgi?ga...Shade_Of_Green) Schedule - 1st turn 48h, then 24h until players prefer 48h. Then repeat for 72h, 96h etc. Players - 12 Nations - Picked on First Come First Served basis (no water nations. Or LA Ermor) Open To - New or inexperienced players Mods Single Age Mod - http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/attachment....99&d=1212179279 CBM 1.83 - The .dm file for this mod is attached to this post. This is the actual CB1.83.dm file that is on the llamaserver wich llamabeast sent me (thanks llama!). You will probably need the 7-zip archive program to un-zip it though, as using that was the only way to reduce the file size enough to allow me to attach it. Note you will still need the other files associated with CBM 1.83 (I suggest you get them from CBM 1.84) 7-Zip can be found here - http://www.7-zip.org/ or here (for those who prefer to trust filehippo) - http://www.filehippo.com/download_7zip_32/ Map - Greece Stain (by PashaDawg.) Download the image file here - http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/attachment....69&d=1299106781 Note - You will not be given the final .map file for this game, as you only need the image file to play the game. The .map file will be kept hidden so that players don't know the start locations of the other players. You will need the clean version of the image file though. Age - All Age Independent Strength - 5 Research - Standard Magic Sites - Default (which is 40 for All Age) Money - Default Resources - Default Supplies - Default Random Events- Default (which is Common) Re-naming - On Score Graphs - On Hall Of Fame - 15 Victory Conditions - Hold 6 capitals for 3 consecutive turns. Win claims to be checked by the non-playing admin. ie. me (there are no VP's at capitals) (More detailed info on the settings and game rules etc can be found in the post below this one.) Important Notice to All Players It goes without saying that I expect everyone to play and fight until the very last man in this game. (FYI, this is also the expected norm for all games on this forum, and counts double for any and all of my games). Which means no turning AI, or at least not until you literally have nothing left to fight back your enemies with. So far almost all the players in my previous newbie games have been absolutely fantastic in this regard. And apart from the odd exception, I don't think I could ask for more of them on that front, as the new players in these games have put many vets to shame. Since the definition that some vets use to describe 'fighting until the last' is absolutely pathetic by all accounts. (indeed, for example just take a look at events in the DragonWars (this forum) and Troubling Times (on shrapnel) games, which saw established vets bail in a flood of excuses simply because they were attacked) So please can I ask everyone who is playing in this game to do their very best to keep up this truly excellent trend shown by the new players on these forums. And please do keep putting those veterans to shame with your excellent levels of commitment and never surrender fighting spirit. As you don't want to be the one to let the side down by being known as the only new player that bailed in a hissy fit. Player List (order matches llamaserver order) 1. EA Arcoscephale - Bann 2. EA Fomoria - Globu 3. EA Niefelheim - SirMu (Went AI turn 25 with just cap and 5 total points of troops left) 4. EA Yomi - escafoides (Eliminated turn 41) 5. LA Bogarus - GFSnl 6. LA Ulm - Koral 7. MA Bandar Log - bbz 8. MA Marignon - Saeter 9. MA Oceania - Lord Xia 10. MA Pythium - MythicBowman (Eliminated ~ turn 45. FrozenLama played the last dozen or so turns) 11. MA T'ien Ch'i - kakarotto 12. MA Vanheim - Ianh |

More Detailed Game Information Delays, Stale Turns, AI/Substitutes Ideally, please post in the game thread and PM me if you need a delay, just in case I miss one of them (and so that the other players know what's going on). I'm a friendly admin, so most delays will be granted, but please give as much notice as possible. Since asking for a delay 5 minutes before hosting probably won't do any good. In the early phase any request up to 24-48 hours should be ok (if you are away over a weekend for example), anything longer may need to be temporarily subbed (or accept a stale). Once the game gets more intense and critical, then longer delays will usually be granted. Stale turns are always unwelcome, but they are not the end of the world, and I doubt a stale free MP game has ever existed. So can I please ask players not to drop-out just because of a stale turn or two. The same can be said for losing a big fight. It hurts, but it's not a reason to quit or go into a staling sulk. If a player stales for 2 consecutive turns then the position will be assessed, and that player will either be turned AI, or a substitute will be sought. In the latter case, the game might need to be delayed a short while for a sub-search to take place. If you do have to leave the game for any reason, then please can you let the admin know about it. I understand fully myself that it's not always possible to do this, but it is always highly appreciated if possible And if you can find your own substitute for your position, then that would be even better. And can I please ask that nobody goes AI without prior notification. As this is considered to be pretty bad manners in this community, and anyone doing so won't be welcome in any future games that I arrange and admin. (see below where I mention that being a general douche bag is banned) Victory Conditions Please take note that capitals will not be marked by VP's in this game. So winning claims are to be verified by the non-playing admin (which is me basically, unless a big truck decides otherwise, when I'm sure some kind soul will do it instead). Also note that it is up to the players themselves to keep track of how many capitals others hold. There is no graph to tell you this exact info, and players claiming wins do not have to give any warning when they are about to win. So make sure to get those Scouts and intel spells out there if you want to know what's happening, so that you know who is close to owning enough capitals to win ![]() As for the actual requirements, you need to hold X capitals in total for 3 consecutive turns. This figure can include your own. So if the requirement is 6 capitals, then that is your own plus 5 others. As an example if you capture your last needed capital on turn 50, and if you are still holding all the required number of capitals at the start of turn 51 and 52, then you are able to claim victory and ascend as the one true Pretender God ![]() I should add that to claim a valid win, you need to provide the three turn files for the three turns that you have held the required number of capitals for. As one or two turn files won't be enough. Also, I am not a big fan of allied or joint victories, but I also know I can't make players fight either. So if two or more players want to claim a joint victory, then they will need to get a concession from every other player still in the game to claim a joint/allied victory. Who Can Play In This Game? Ideally I am looking for new or inexperienced players only. Lets say that 5 or less games classes someone as inexperienced. If you have made it through to the late-game in more than one game, then you are probably not so inexperienced anymore. But then..... ....if we are struggling for sign-ups, then I will let more experienced players join on the condition that they pick a weak nation. Plus you might have played in several games, but have yet to make it to late game. In which case you probably still count as an inexperienced player. (you probably only really graduate from newb/inexperienced school after you have ether won a game, or have made it through to the late game on more than one occasion) Situation Regarding Trades and NAP's etc (Non-Aggression Pacts) No NAP agreements in this game will be considered as inviolable in any way. You are free to sign as many NAP's as you wish, but you do so at your own risk. Also, I personally think that in a game like Dominions 3 there isn't really any such thing as an NAP, since in theory everyone is aiming to win, and there can be only one winner. So all NAP's should instead be considered as Mutual Benefit Agreements, whereby both nations benefit for whatever reason(s) from not engaging in hostilities against the other nation. But the moment one side is no longer benefiting from such an agreement, then that is the moment they are most likely to break them. So if you are ever surprised by a nation breaking an agreement, then maybe you were mistaken with regards to just how important that agreement was to them, or how much they could gain from suddenly attacking you. But trade agreements such as a gem / item swap / purchase / province trades, are a totally different type of agreement to NAP's. You are expected to honour any and all trade agreements that you make. Banned Exploits 1. Copying the script orders from Bogus and his friends to others commanders (ie. The 'Fire Commanders' orders). 2. Overloading other players labs by sending them lots of items they did not request. Be they worthless or valuable. 3. Being a general douche bag is not allowed in this game. Final Note To All Players First I have a request to all players in this game, and that is to read this great set of general tips regarding personal conduct in MP games written by Sheap. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com//showthread.php?t=32050 Also, please can I further emphasise to everyone to firmly keep in mind that Dominions 3 is a computer game. If someone is dishonest and backstabs you in the game, this does not mean that this is how they are in real life. If you honestly believe that people will behave the same in real life as they do in a computer game then I personally think there is something wrong with you, and I would prefer it if you did not sign up for this game. Maybe use the time to instead get yourself checked out by a psychiatrist, who can help you separate computer games from real life. 'Thank You' for your time in reading all this. Good luck and happy gaming to all the players. |

I've added you as Bandar then. Although you really don't want to listen to anyone on the IRC channel, since those guys are proper a-holes, who know nothing about Dominions.
That's not a surprise to hear, as CBM fan boys such as Frozen aren't programmed to say anything else

Frozen is so consistent and predictable you can tune piano's with him.
And I in turn thank you so very very much for all the wonderful effort you put into your mods. They all look really very nice, and all seem to add lots of content to the game. I am a really big fan of all your work, and I hope one day to sample some of it for a few turns in a SP game. Please keep up the fine job you are doing, as all you do enhances the game no end. |

Is there a CBM primer somewhere for people who only played vanilla up to now? I have a feeling I'm going to be pretty lost at sea for a while. |

Unfortunately, there is no CBM primer that I know of. A good rule of thumb up until CBM 1.5 was that if it works in vanilla, then it'll work in CBM. (as the transition from vanilla to CBM was fairly easy up until CBM 1.5, as until then CBM mostly only added things to the game by fixing unused/unusable things) CBM 1.6 removed the gem generating items Clam of Pearls, Bloodstone and Fever Fetish, so CBM 1.6 does play a lot differently to vanilla if you are highly reliant on gem generating items. Otherwise it plays more or less the same. CBM 1.7+ removed hammers, along with changing a whole host of other things, and adding numerous spells and nation boosts. I haven't played a game with CBM 1.82 to tell for certain how different it is from vanilla, but my guess is it's pretty big, as I'm currently playing a CBM 1.7 game, and I can already tell it has a very different feel to CBM 1.6. (as I played several CBM 1.6 and games, and CBM 1.7 is a different beast all together. Although CBM 1.82 is certainly better than 1.7, but both are a different playing experience to vanilla). If we go with CBM 1.6, then I'd say you'll be fine with your vanilla knowledge just as long as nothing about your strategy involves gem gens. If we go for CBM 1.82, then you best bet is simply to play SP game with your nation (and maybe against the other nation in this game) so that you can get some idea what the changes are. But it'll be hard for anyone to give you a good primer for 1.82 right now, as hardly any games have been played with it for people to know how it plays. (and those MP games that are using it are likely in the early stages) |

Just so you all know, I highly recommend NEVER playing in a game organized by Calahan. He is one of the reliable admins, and one of the biggest extension granters that I know to have ever (unfortunately) been part of the Dominions community. And as our overlord Sombre has told us, no extensions lead to a more enjoyable game. So a warning to everyone who thinks about playing in this game. Calahan is a known extension granter, and the examples I will give below are just those I know about. As I will be amazed if there are not other examples as well. Something I can tell you all for certain is that Calahan will either extend turns in this game or find subs in it at some stage once he realises somebody is going to stale. And he won't care in the slightest about the rest of you at that time, as he is a filthy irc user himself. As all he wants to do is to see you "have fun", which means"playing dom3 without hassle" in his books. You can also get some clues to this by his choice of mods and banned tactics (yes, why don't we all create games where you have banned the best and most powerful wanker tactics. As that will greatly increase every bodies enjoyment, and minimise the chances of having every bodies "fun" spoilt). During his brief time here this year Calahan..... - Organized FrolickingFledglings. http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index.php?showtopic=307 - And gave turn extensions: Here http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index....dpost&p=1360201 and here http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index....dpost&p=1347019 - Organized RawRecruits http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index.php?showtopic=201 - Found a sub for Neophytes Delight http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index.php?showtopic=314 - Didn't declare me as the winner of GreenShoots http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index.php?showtopic=203 Even when I should have won because playing MA Agartha is just that awesome. You are all of course still free to play in this game if you wish, but do not think lightening won't strike twice (or the umpteenth time in Calahan's case). But ask yourself if it's worth the hassle of having to wait for other players to finish their turns. If you want to have the proper MP experience, there is still a game open at the shrapnel forums. It is called Shades Of Green. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=47090 |
