Sweet, I'll check which CBM we are using, then push the button. You guys should be getting pretty awesome with your starting strategies by now

Also... Not a fixed map, I have 2 land neighbors. Yeah, there are no fixed starts in this one, I checked. He balanced terrain type a little, but still it's a problem. |

After much confusion in the editor I have a version of Parganos_Llama with 8 fixed starts. The starts are mostly balanced distance wise from neighbors. Everyone is at least 4 from someone, and no one is 3 or less. Everyone should also have a minimum 4 land neighbors. A few starts probably have more 'room' but meh, there's only so much you can do. Nations are placed randomly in one of those 8 starts, so there is no additional knowledge of starting locations for me, other than the 8 starts. It's not optimal, but I'm not a rush nation so hard to see how I can take advantage of it, and not that hard for people to figure where people likely started (within a province) from the reported spacing. If you want to restart with this map let me know and I'll upload the .map file. If you want me to list the starting locations I can do that too, but that's really not optimal either as it gives the rushers a sizeable advantage in my opinion. |

I started in one of the fixed starts, but it may be a coincidence. There are several versions of the map, the one we want is in the User-added maps section, titled: Parganos (Llama's Fix) Deadsea, 8 fixed land starts. BTW, I am a rush nation and know all the start locations <3 |

I'm not sure how I can be playing a different map than you guys. But my start has 2 land neighbors, if that's a fixed start then I assume everyone else started similarly? By the way, the link from that map goes to the SEIV forums... What .map file do you have? Usually players don't see the .map if it's a fixed one anyway. |

I have 3 land neighbours. Again, I'm fine with this. But as our latest restart was to get balanced starts I could use licker's version as well. I assume everything in the game works now, just need to agree on the map. As for the llamaserver map lists, the dl link doesn't seem to work, and in the old map browser 'Parganos with 8 fixed land starts' seems to refer to the same archive we used here (628800-parganos_llama) |

I have the map from before, I didn't download it now. But if I remember correctly, the version of .map file you have is irrelevant. The only important thing is which one the server is using and it is encoded into fatherland file. We should restart again, of course, the only question is whether llamaserver has the map version we want. After looking again, the Parganos map which has "8 fixed land starts" in the title, clearly says "no fixed starts" in the description. But, the one in the Old map browser with "8 land starts" is the one we want. |

Can you link that .map so we can see if it actually does what it says it does? |

Is someone with a bit of time able to take a poke around the one on the old map browser and confirm that it is indeed the one that we want? |

All the Parganos versions in the old llama browser, including the fixed ones, have the same dl link, namely this: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread....hlight=parganos I downloaded the archive from that link and tested both of the maps (parganos_llama and parganos_llama_deadseas). There's only one tga file. I set up 2 SP games with 8 human pretenders with both maps and the starting provinces were different in all games. So unless there's like 50 fixed startpoints, I'd say the starts were random. No extremely bad starts came up though, all had atleast 3 land connections, most had more. If we must have fixed starts, then why not use the one licker edited? Just upload it to llama, and name it so it can't be confused with the other versions. And as everyone can figure out the start places with testgames anyway, I'd say list them here. |

I tried these maps also. They don't have fixed starts, even though one of them says it should. Also I checked the Pargonas maps in my dom3 folder - none of them has fixed starts either. But, I have one saved game from ages ago with the fixed starts map. I think all we need to do to make a map with fixed starts is to put 8 commands at the bottom: #start province_number Since I have this game where I can see where the starts should be, I'll try to do this. Edit: OK, here it is, I've tested it and it works. All the starts have between 4-6 land neighbours. |

Um... Your version is a dead seas version. I don't see the point in that. |
