Yeah, Jotunheim's position is pretty bad, given that every province around my capitol is controlled by someone else. Still I've got a few ideas that might keep me alive for the time being.

Yah, I kinda got bum rushed and then things went bad faster then I expected. On the other hand, I was eating the aztecs pretty well when that happened, and a castle eaten is a castle eaten. (Not my castle, his castle.)

Much as I love Jotunheim (and I do), I always seem to get stomped when I play them. Mind you, this is probably because i am cr@p rather than an issue with the nation.

Huh, looks like Ashdod might beat Pangaea out of the game. Interesting times my friends, interesting times.

OK well that was the best battle I've ever fought, though much of the credit should probably go to either the game's AI or to Happerry's amassing of mages (I gave a bunch of orders but they all just ended up skellyspamming). My contribution was a single banefire crossbow which absolutely decimated the Agarthan troops once they got stuck at the entrance, which was continuously clogged with giants. Now all I need is a few frigging gold because I am basically broke.

Sounds like an awesome battle, Jiggymike - although I suppose the Agarthans may have a different view on it ;-)

I hear CthulhuDreams has some spare cash now that he no longer has an army, maybe he could shout you some?

Yea, despite what people think about giant nations, Jotunheim is not a good early game nation. Although powerful, that power only begin to manifest in the midgame.

Oh and heads up!

For Ashdod, you might want to move a scout to his capitol because iv'e heard rumors that the next turn The Final Showdown of Ultimate Destiny will take place on his very doorstep. :D

The crowds demand a youtube of this Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny :-)

Looking at the army graph, I am going to take a punt and speculate that Ashdod himself won't be playing a huge role in this battle?

With respect to events in Ashdod's capital today, my neutral observers sent back the following report:

"OMGWTFBBQ!!?!$%~^&$!"

I would like to second these comments, having remotely viewed the same set of events.

Truly, we are in a very interesting part of the game - like the mythical Cretaceous era, we can expect numerous mass extinctions in the near future.

In these days of chaos you would be a fool to leave your bed without at least some woven metal pantaloons. And you should not enter a battlefield without a chainmail at the least less you'll get hit by a flying dart of some kind.

That said, this battle could have been much more even if Hex had had more research for his communion to use.

Good sport though.

Nah, more spells would have been cool, but last minute tweaks to battle orders without remembering why "hold & attack" was better than "attack" and "why not cheat these guys a little further forward, it hasn't hurt yet ..." is what killed me. And Ulm, he played a part. Over time, fighting Ashdod with no real ranged troops or spells, I had compressed my original formation, too. I really needed to spread them back out. Ugh. I would have liked to see the straight up defense vs protection battle that should have been.

Out of curiosity, did those drones manage to horror mark anybody? From what I could see, it was no.

I did not see any horror marks. But then again I did not see any damage either. Must be a bug. (sic) But its really hard to pierce prot 24 with an attack that only does max 1 point of damage and is not AP or AN. Yea, that's probably were the bug is.

Not that is would have mattered much as troops cant get assassinated and as such cant get attacked by random horrors, but...

Turns out when you build one of your castles on a Plaguewater stream, your expensive research mages all get the plague and die. Who woulda thunk it? (Moral of the story - do a search for Death sites first!).

On the plus side though, this was a most excellent turn for site searching, so no complaints.

I do note that many of my national tourists, en-route to the sunny shores of Northern Ulm (or is it now technically Southern R'lyeh? so hard to keep up!) have been arrested by Ulmish authorities on suspicion of being spies and promptly executed. Oh, these heartless times! Who will tell their mothers?
