I think i have to reevaluate the powers of Ulmish mages. This turn my attacking force got mindhunted and my troopshufflers got whacked. This resulted in only 9 soldiers and 4 smiths attacking R'lyeths heavily fortified province. The province was guarded by about 100 soldiers (mostly PD) and a 10 mage communion. Sounds one side, eh? It was a slaughter! It tuns out nothing R'lyeth have can stand up to concentrated Bladewind/Iron Blizzard spam. I only lost 5 troops. I also had 2 water bottles but thats just a detail. |

Turn 1 massed bladewind is one of the most underrated things in the game. I always see people buffing summon earthpower then bladewind. This makes sense on the attack, but when you're defending getting that first huge volley off before buffs can be awesome. Sometimes it even targets a big clump of mages and devastates them. Of course you gotta be liberal with the boosters. |

The deceitful nation of Agartha has learned that Loki Liesmith, God of Jotunheim, does not go quietly. Time and time again, he has thrown his hideous troops at our walls, only to be turned back each and every one of those times with fewer and fewer troops. They have fallen to arrows and on the swords of skeletons, been mauled by lions and slain by the hand of Loki himself. However, our remaining mages are few, and they grow weak after months held inside the castle. Agartha waits outside, attempting to claim our capital, but we will not give in until the last man is dead. Hundreds of Agarthan corpses litter our walls. Another huge army of his travels west to take our cave province, so that they may once again be at home in the darkness. Our spies indicate that his defenses are weakened in the center, though we can not tell to what extent. We urge others to attack them now, while they are presumably weak. These beasts have already betrayed us once and they will not hesitate to do the same to anyone else. We beseech all other nations, destroy Agartha and bring peace to the souls of Jotunheim. |

Yeah, you have been one step ahead of me with your capital defense. We especially morn the death of our two statue champions send at you last turn :(. But by sheer numbers we will prevail. By the way did you also get a bad battle replay. Cause the actual outcome is much better than that is shown in the replay. |

Yea, in my replay Jotunheim won. Witch was really surprising considering the difference in numbers between the two. Though this is all begging the question: Why is Agartha attacking a nation with Cold 3 scales, using coldblooded troops? |

I have not checked the latest turn but so far all my battles have been victorious. The Agarthan dead are piling almost high enough at the walls that they will soon be able to scale them using the bodies of the fallen (bonus if you can come up with the book in which this strategy is used!). Unfortunately, we cannot afford to pay our troops and they are abandoning to live under the empire of Mictlan. We have finally tried to break out of the siege as the Agarthans seem weakened...I will check the battle report later, to see if I was successful or not. Well, it looked like it went well and I won...but all my commanders retreated and died for some reason. The last rounds of battle may have been cut off or something because everyone looked just fine, neither my bane or my pretender had taken any damage and I can't figure out where they would have gone. I guess maybe they just died because Agartha was still occupying the province, even though they were defeated? I honestly have no idea, possibly a quirk of the game mechanics. |

Like I said above, the break out looked to have been Jotunheims victory in my replay. But looking at the province this is obviously not so as Agartha still sieges Jotunheims capitol. Jiggymike. This is known as the battle replay bug, were the outcome of a battle and the replay of a battle dont match. It is an uncommon but well known bug. |

It's happened to me a few times. My pc is older and bogs down on bigger battles. I wasted over an hour trying to watch a battle once that I thought I should have won. Finally got to the end of the replay, and I won! but I lost ... . Hard to learn anything from that.

Well, now it is known by me also. When I read the report, it says I lost but yes, the replay showed me winning. It looks like I posted my plea just in time, as the power of Jotunheim will soon be fading from the land. I can take solace in the fact that I left an innumerable number of Agartha's troops dead despite far fewer resource. |

JiggyMike: I just wanted to say thanks for subbing in and for playing such a determined defence even though everything looked pretty dark from the very start. Plus GFSnl's minions needed a bit of beating to help him in his quest to evolve them all to higher life forms ;-) It is always tough when people have to drop out of a game for medical or other reasons, and good subs are hard to find. We are very lucky you popped in! So even though the light of Jotunheim is now fading, I look forward to playing with you again in future games! :-) |

No problem! It's kind of difficult to pop into a game but 1) I like Happerry from the IRC channel and wanted to help out and 2) I'm less invested in the game so I care less about my units (I get very upset when I lose my 'favorites' in regular games). The situation wasn't too complicated, either, it was just 'defend the provinces you have left for as long as possible.' I think I'll be around the Dom3 community for the time being so hope to see you all around. |
