Well as we are quitting anyway I can tell you. R'lyeth used Arrow fend to neutralize my iron blizzards. And you could have done the same and deployed in the back and cast curse of stone or something. Ulm have terrible MR so it would have worked fine probably. Thus you could have neutered both mages and troops. Or at least until I change tactics. A combination of stone statues and call of the winds would have handled the spies after a while. (Statues have patrol bonus) But only if you started at once. Long term option would have been army of gold. Witch would not have been impossible by now with the ancients and your fast research. Probably many other strategies. I'm actually also quite tired of this game. Mainly because each turn takes forever and that I have to account for so many possible battle scenarios. And by the way aorta? Were are your last dom Candles? I was hoping that the ones in your cap would be the last but I was apparently not that lucky. |

Cool, I will end the game. Thanks guys, it has been a lot of fun :-) And, amazingly enough, Tzarin and I made it through an ENTIRE game without backstabbing each other, which is basically unprecedented. Mind you, we weren't very effective in cooperating, I think because we were always wondering when the other one was going to stick the knife in .... I am going to call my war with Ghoul in his favour based on our relative starting points. I was finally at the point where I was about to crush him through sheer material superiority, but really I should've done it a long time previously, so kudos to Ghoul. I kept hoping Shinuyama would take care of him for me, but I think Shin had the same thought, with the result that we just pussy-footed around and got spanked. I seemed to have a huuuuuge number of air gems, and was pondering what would happen if I fired a bunch of them (I can do ~8 a turn and stay gem neutral with my gem income) into one of Ulm's big armies before a battle with Agartha. My thoughts were that SArrows is armour piercing, and a lot of Ulm's guys are basically just squishy humans - would that have been worth doing? |

With regards to seeking arrows, you are mistaken. They aren't armor piercing, they are in fact armor *negating*. So a deluge of seeking arrows could easily have fileted a good number of squishy humans. The problem with seeking arrows is that due to relying on DRN rolls to kill you need to send more than one arrow per person you want to kill, and they'll hit any random commanders or spies the person may have in the province. If you have the gems to burn though you can do a number on someone's commanders, especially if they're unprepared. |

Seeking arrows are usually an excellent way of messing with communions. Not so much against ulm though as every mage is interchangeable and ulmish mages have 12 HP each anyhow. This means that Seeking arrow, that only does 8 points of AN damage, will only kill 24% of the times according to the manual. Unless they are hit twice. But there are often better things to spend air gems on. |
