Hrmm, I can't help but notice that Ashdod seems to have misplaced his army?

Perhaps he misplaced his much needed archery support? All mercs belong to Ulm anyhow. Ulmish villainous mercs even more so.

If you want a merc you can take Daegan. Ulm is the land of fists hitting faces! We need no stinking researchers. And Cleverbot knows all anyway. No reason to look things up in dusty books when we can just ask her.

+24h added to the clock.

If possible, please also PM me for extensions, as the PM will pop up as an email on my smartphone (e.g. less chance that I miss it).

+12h added for Ashdod.

Apparently he's still looking for his armies. They weren't in the sock drawer, so now he's having a bit of a look under the sofa.

The op still shows mockingbird/abyssia, and not fantomen/hoburg. I don't think there are any other inconsistencies, but can you look at it? Thanks.

Well, so much for the hoburgs.

Yes, I see that we have had our first fatality. Farewell and well played to Die Hoburg Allianz, may the afterlife be kind to you.

Operation Anschluss is finally over! That took forever. Seeing as I sieged their capitol on turn 7 i did not think it would take another 11 turns to actually beat them. Good fighting spirit there.

I'm sorry if i ruined your plans for testing the Hoburg nation. But I hope you at least got some early game battle experience with them.

The truth is that from the moment I designed my pretender I was planning to rush the first player I'd run in to. That just so happened to be the Hoburgs.
Why? Because the early game belong to ulm now. Blackplates have many counters but most of them require research to deploy. That means that ulm is almost unstoppable in the first year. There are precious few things that can punch through protection 24 on turn 2. Maybe some giant nations and maybe some crossbows. But crossbows can be scripted around. And Ulm have access to Tower shields anyway.

In short, Ulm has to leverage its early game before its biggest strengths melt away. Or it wont see a late game.

I had an argument in the CBM thread earlier were I proposed that the new spell "Blessings of Steel" should require research to cast. This war should help to prove that point i think.

Good fight Corinthian, well done!

I didn't get enough data to evaluate the Hoburgs though, it's hard to measure it's power based on a rush like that. I agree that blessings of steel is probably a bit too much, on the other hand high protection is one of the few things the Hoburgs don't have a good early tool against, being low strength across the board. I could have beat elephants, most sacreds and SC pretenders, but prot 24 without research proved too much for the few troops I had time to hire. I'm a bit surprised the Rosenkreigers fared so badly, in my SP tests they were too good so I toned them down. Perhaps I made them too weak, or too expensive.

I also had a major unrest event on turn 2 and another turn 5, plus a indy attack that robbed me of a fortified city being built. So a total of 2 - 3 thousand gold lost from bad luck. Else I might have met you with a different scale of numbers.

I think it would have made quite a difference had I been able to leverage strength of giants, but that came too late. And of course in a while there would have been lots of Obstgartners dropping eagle eyes + destruction, a pretty perfect couter against Ulm infantry. So the key to this victory was in the year 1 rush.

All in all I don't think we can draw much conclusions about either nations strength based on this, but it will be interesting to see how the new Ulm fares in lategame.

Ah yea. About the Rozenkriegers, they had the same weakness as all the other hoburgs. Namely that they cant get through prot21. Death Poison only activates if the attack gets through the armor and poison barbs can be negated by long weapons. This lack of penetration was not helped by the fact that vineshielded soldiers dont get any fatigue from encumbrance. That said I though they did fine vs 175% their numbers in blackplates.

Not that it mattered because Ulm have the ultimate counter to early game Magic Beings. Namely Iron Dart spammers. And with their fire vulnerability I guess other nations could have spammed fire evocations for the same effect. Or arrows. Big, without shields and prot 8 i think.

As for your misfortune, yea I noticed. I never ever take more than misfortune 1 for this exact reason. Also you might not have seen it but there were another 3 indy attacks on your former lands after I took your capitol. One of them might have been the knights that took your extra fort though. One of those attacks was why only 14 blackplates tried to recapture your retaken capitol. The other bigger army with the prophet was hit by barbarians and decided not to move. Lazy bastards! :D

Jimbojones, you can't beat me 2 on one so you have to invvite every nation to help you. You are the most pitiful player I have ever seen in dominions.

Ah yes, insulting a person for taking advantage of an opputunity, what a clever thing to do.

Edit: What does this mean? The server seems to have accepted the turn file but why is it giving me a reminder to play my turn in a game I'm not in?
