A side question: What does it mean "NAP is not binding"? |

Okay, if you agree to swap gems or magic items with someone, you MUST do as you agreed. If you have a NAP 3 with someone, then you do NOT have to give 3 turns warning to attack them. Before of the consequences of doing this...........some people...like me ....never give you another NAP in any game. |

I'm guessing you mean "beware" not "before" of the consequences. Honestly, breaking a NAP in the lategame isn't really something worth getting your panties in a twist. Unless you acquire a real habit of breaking them, or you're dealing with people who keep actual lists you won't see much of a difference. Of course, I just don't do NAPs anymore anyways, neither do most of the old timers. |

I do them when they are convenient (or assuages the nerves of a nervous neighbor). Usually, I try not to.

NAP's do nothing other than help promote bad strategic decisions, planning and thinking. Which in my not inconsiderable experience, the vast majority of players are bad enough at already, and so are far from in need of the additional help at sucking at it caused by using NAP's. As being under the illusion that you can secure borders with just a bit of paper and a promise is just poor and lazy strategic planning. As the the correct way of securing borders is by players always having resources available to either deal with enemy invaders, or more often than not in practice, encourage would-be attackers to look elsewhere by not displaying any weaknesses and by not presenting yourself as an easy target. Over the years there have been countless moans and complaints from players crying about being ganged and/or having NAP''s broken against them. But I have never come accross a case where the player doing the bitching had border forts filled with troops and mages when they started their toy throwing. As in every example I've seen it's been a case of the player in question having huge areas of their empire completely undefended by actual troops and mages, and instead were relying on either NAP's to defend most of their lands, or some bullshit concept of "the fairness and goodwill of other players not to attack someone who is already at war". And that, as a strategic plan in Dominions, is just about as completely flawed as it gets. But when someone is seeking a new target, if they look across a border and see several forts filled with hundreds of troops and dozens of mages, then the chances are very high they will look elsewhere for their prey (unless an attack the leader thing is going on). And if they then look across a different border and see several empty forts and vast areas of land without a defender in sight, then you don't need to be a Bailz-like genius to know where their hammer is going to fall. And if you start caring about NAP's in that scenario, then you're just as dumb as the person on the other side of the border that's obviously been relying on that NAP to prevent you from suddenly attacking them. If you over-committ to a war(s), or fail to have deterent forces placed on all your borders and covering all your lands, then you deserve to get rolled over by the first player that strolls up to your backdoor. And dumb players should be forced to improve their strategic undestanding and decision making, and not have the option of expecting inviolable NAP's or being able to conveniently wield the tarring brush as an excuse for their own poor play, by using the threat of permanently labling someone as "untrustworthy" just because they got outsmarted by someone wise enough to either not rely on NAP's, or to realise they are just a joke. This message is brought to you by Fuck 'em(tm), whose motto is "Stupid people should be forced to learn and improve, and not be given convenient options that gift them either an excuse for being stupid, or allow them to continue being a complete retard." This interuption was brought to you by Jack It(tm), sticking their nose in where it didn't belong since 1868. |

Never try to help pig-headed douche bags. It's never worth the trouble, as some people are just too stupid and arrogant to listen Sombre is an egocentric asshole - Jarkko Calahan can spread shit with the best of them. | |

So are we going to sub out arcanist, call the game, or what? This game is fast approaching the point at which many playing will have moved on and lost interest in it. If we do decide to call the game then it is certainly a stalemate, as opposed to any one getting the win. |

I'm not sure whether players have lost interest in this game. If so, then there's no need to find a sub. So, which do you prefer to, finding a sub or closing the game? I would post for sub request if two or more players prefer to finding a sub. |

I'd say no one responding within a few days as a sign of reduced interest. Personally, I'd be perfectly okay with calling it. Might as well let it die now rather than let it drag on.

All right. Then this game is ended. Unfortunately, no winner. I will declare it finished three days later, and it should then disappear on the server. |
