It's probably roughly that with the normal deadlines, but I'll try to make sure it is. |

I won a large battle against Tengu - w00t! Of course, they killed most of my mages in the process, so now I am totally screwed, but hey - beggars can't be choosers and all that :-) EDIT: Actually, my mages were irrelevant in the battle - and they all got toasted in that initial lightning surge rather than actual fighting. The flying really is quite annoying, as tactically it means that the Tengu always escape - and strategically it makes it very hard to out maneuver them to do things like cut off their source of retreat. Bleat bleat! :-) |

Yeah, like I suspected, size 3 combatants even with good stats will have problems against your sacreds

Yeah, those sacreds are really quite neat. I have to say, I really my nation :-) Against a country with less strategic maneuverability (e.g. without flying) I'm thinking that the piggies would have been most formidable. Edit: Are Caelum tengu? I wouldn't mind taking a nation with Tengu for a spin myself at some point :-) |

Could I possibly get a ~48 hour extension? I am on a trip with fairly limited internet and soforth. |

jombojones - caelum is like tengu, but with everything good about tengu not existing. Caelian troops are actually THE most garbage troops of any nation (and yes, including maenads, maenads can sometimes be useful) in the entire game. Even Iron Crows are just crap. In fact whole caelian strategies have been built around ways to mitigate and outright ignore your national troops. The thing about tengu that makes them broken, after fighting hordes of them as ulm in HappyKatanakka, is that units getting surrounded seems to make them break, a, and B) you have to waste huge amounts of units guarding mages, and c) they have great dodge and attack so whatever weapon they're using (katanas for the ones I was fighting in HappyKatanakka - MA Jomon) tends to always hit and then you're relying on not failing the prot roll. Even as ulm I was losing huge amounts of blackplate every turn to just these endless attacks and nothing my melee units did ever connected. If I could bog them down, they had quickness, so eventually they'd fatigue out and i'd connect and kill them, but against flying mapmove 3 you're unlikely to be able to catch them except in wildly uneven force balances and they can wipe you out piecemeal (or take all your land if you refuse to split your armies, since no PD in the game can stand up to even 10 tengu). And worse, without quickness it takes a lot longer to fatigue them down. |

Cheers, big ears. Yeah, I have pretty much hunkered down in my capital to await the inevitable. Massed piggies are able to smash even surrounding tengu, so tactically I can hold my own, its just strategically that I am about as outclassed as a tribe of neandertals trying to outmaneuver the US marine corps circa Desert Storm. Bring it on people! I'll take you all! One at a time, or all at once - FREEDOM FOR MY PEOPLES! |

kianduatha, I really don't see any way for us to counter you in your current position. Elmokki and I are for concession in your favor... Is anyone opposed to this? |
| 10:35:14 PM - Flypaper: I've got a preliminary plan, but it's only one Vizzini level deep | |

I am happy with whatever others decide. At this point in time, I am basically holed up in my capital preparing to sell my life dearly (on the basis that I can't really compete with the tengu's ability to hop around the strategic map much faster than I can). I have very much liked my nation in this game - I think that they would be fairly well matched against most of the vanilla nations (well, vanilla + CBM 1.92 - I can hardly remember how Dom3 plays without CBM anymore!). |

If this game ends I'll promise to host a new one with a slightly different concept: Generate your own nation and give me the seed (possibly with some sort of race restriction if someone convinces me some race is overpowered - tengus aren't available as a primary anymore though so it would have to be the flying size 2 super defence hoburg stuff I suppose) |

I like this idea very much. Do we want to get a volunteer (either playing in the game, or external) to have a quick flick through each of the submitted races to make sure none of them are too insane? EDIT: I assume the way to do this would be to generate a large chunk of races at once, but set the app to generate a seperate seed ID for each race (so we can send you in that ID and you only need to generate one race rather than trying to pick through a bunch of them to find what you want). Is this about right? |

It always shows the nation specific seeds at the start of the .dm, so every player downloads the _exact correct version_ of UnitGen (any modifications will break the seeds when I try to regenerate them so any cheater will probably get a totally random nation) and generates as many sets of 20ish nations - more will soon reach the sprite limit and you can't check them out ingame - until they find something neat. Then when they find a neat nation they check the .dm file for the seed (or have used settings.txt to set UnitGen to the mode where you input national seeds separately anyway and just tell it from memory. whatever) I'm fine with batshit insane nations even though I'm probably too lazy to generate more than say, 100 nations, to quickly glance through so I probably won't find the most insane nations and even if I do I might not play them due to personal preferences. If we wish to control nation powers somehow we should probably vary it a bit by doing something like having players choose the nations but randomizing them for the players, but as I said, batshit insane nations is a good way to test how broken nations are possible. |

Yeah basically I hold no pleasure at all playing this game. We got the data we wanted to from it, so might as well pack it up. |
