Homies of dom3mods, I need a favour. I'd like to set up a game on llamaserver that I can play with my friend Sasooli and his girlfriend, who has never played a multiplayer game of dom3 before and has barely played dom3 in fact. This game will be co-op against a bunch of AIs. But it seems like the best way of doing this is to have you guys submit some pretenders and then turn them AI, that way they can be given thematic scales etc, will be medium difficulty and we won't risk any copy protection triggering BS. I think I'll need about 5 people to help with this. Who is willing? Just to be clear, you won't play in the game you'll just make a thematic pretender, submit it, then submit an AI turn first turn. |

Yea I can do that although tematic might not mean challenging. Money starts at the moment are quite hot, and AI can always do with some more money:D Oh and by themathic do you meant themathic as in how you'd generally play the nation, or thematic thematic. |

Sure, I can submit a pretender. Also you should definitely get Gandalf's help, as he loves nothing more than designing AIs, and I'm sure there is no one who has put more effort into this than he. |

Thematic as in thematic not thematic as in something other than thematic. And it doesn't have to be optimised for AI play or optimised for success or optimised for the way you play. It just has to be thematic, above all else. A high nature bless might make no sense for a certain nation's sacreds but it might make perfect sense for them to have a high nature god. So yeah, don't worry about how it plays. Although making them dom1 would be stupid obviously. |

Does any consideration for 'good' come into play during design? As I could easily submit a Pretender for any of those nations, but for the AI I'd be looking to go the pathless Dom 10 Wyrm/Manticore with great scales route. But I don't think that's thematic for any particular nation. (but if you give an AI SC god any magic paths then it's pointless paying points for the SC chassis, so may as well go rainbow). Let us know. Edit - You could maybe get players to play the first turn as well, as that allows them to script awake SC's with magic paths to "attack", which opens up more chassis's without the AI nerfing their potential via spellcasting (eg.Gorgon for Pan). From playing against AI's in MP games, it doesn't seem the AI will change the scripts of scripted commanders. But then I haven't played against an AI in MP for a long time, so might be mis-remembering this. (or just not as attentive to minor details back then as I am these days, and might have just thought they don't change scripts based on bad observation) |
