Here's a new smallish map from me to play during these snowy winter days. Enjoy! :)

That is an awesome map! :D

Beautiful and well designed. I normally despise maps that are symmetrical in this fashion, but I have absolutely no objection to this one on any level.

Beautiful Executor! How did you make it?

"Many sites" in the middle?

Thanks guys,

Deathjester,
It was surprisingly easy to make actually, especially since I screwed the pooch and managed to merge all my layers at one point and then almost delete the map entirely. <_<
It took me longer to write up the text file for the map then to draw it up.

I took a snowflake pattern that I found interesting. That bellow is the pattern that I started on. Removed the middle section of the snowflake and connected the rest into the frozen coast. This gave me my basic land mass. Added a couple of more displaced layers of the frozen coasts on top of one another to make them overlap to make it look like not all coast is frozen. Put a bit of texture on the land so it doesn't seem too flat. For the background I created a pattern of my own, the smallish snowflakes falling over the entire picture (they 're almost invisible on the actual snowflake). Then I added the frame and the bigger snowflakes. The clip-art was placed last. I think it took me about 4 hours to make the map

The middle province has Angerboda, some Gygjas and a bunch of trolls. As for sites I've put "Throne of the World" there. It gives 15 gems and 250 gold. Maybe a bit much but it can easily be removed after all.

If anyone has any interesting ideas for a new map let me know. As in map theme and setting. Maybe a map for some interesting scenario, like a Ermorian plague that breaks out in the capital of a kingdom situated on an archipelago. And yes, that is totally ripped from Dishonored. Nice game.

I'm free for a while more until my semester starts so I'll probably be modding and mapmaking some more.

I missed this before. It's lovely. I'm wondering how flags show up. Seems a bit bright in the center.

I'm going to try it out.

If you have an idea for a new map, btw, please share. Map making and modding has become something of a stress release for me.

Since you are taking orders :) ... I'd like to vote for more 6-8 player maps with balanced starts; I kind of like this size category for games the best.

PS. Very nice map, thanks!

Ahhh, well I already started a new map.
I'm currently making a scenario for a role play game It's going to be somewhere between 9-11 players with an extra special position. The map is going to have a heavily fortified central island, the remnants of the old empire where a plague has swept trough the land, turning everyone to undead, and is now spreading trough the continent.

Obviously I fully intend to play the mad necromancer who randomly attack everyone with thousands upon thousands of zombies until I'm finally vanquished, once I finish the map and organize a game.

God, it's beautiful. You should put it in a frame and hang in your living room.

By the way, does anyone knows an "role play" map, with fixed positions for different factions, surroundings that are supposed to be it's empires (according to the names and art), like Dawn of Dominions? Maybe with special scripted events... would be awesome.

Faerun. It's 466 provinces of just that. You can download it from here: http://koti.welho.com/ehalttun/dom3/

The adventure map is what you want. The no specials is just that, no special provinces etc. Unfortunately events cannot be scripted into Dominions 3 maps.

Having now played on Snowflake, the terrain is nasty. Too much forest, not enough variation. And pointing everyone at the center makes for a wonky game. It needs terrain variation and some ports. So you don't have to go center first before fighting. It's really hell to get diverse gem income. N, E and N E and N E over and over.
