Do magic units without magical leadership instantly die when an enemy appears?
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my words. You think you can get away with saying shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your tongue. You didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

They don't even die at all in the general case. They need to be mindless and without proper leadership to dissolve, which is not instantaneous (but fast). If they aren't mindless, they flee normally (typically, blindfighter).

Mindless units are not alway magical leadership either, they can be on undead/demon leadership. I don't remember a mindless unit under normal leadership however

I remember that they do, because they have flysprite. I can't confirm.

Kurgi`s nightmare.
I heard it`s somewhat different in dom4 - not all projectile-type spells are countered by airshield now. No hard evidence, though.
To strike down the phoenix is to slash at the flame.

i DO know that airshield is useless against storm of thorns. which would make me doubt it vs iron blizzard...
All that matters is that two stood against many-that's what's important...

From personal disappointments I know that Air shield stops both Storm of Thorns (the damage part, units seem to get entangled just fine) and Iron Blizzard. I'm assuming Nether Darts too, if it's all spells showing as projectiles?

ahh baldanders, you may be right on that one. i noticed all my dudes getting entangled, but perhaps they weren't being damaged(they were ulmish heavies, i just assumed their armor was protecting them)

mechanics question...

if i have a d4 mage attempt to cast darkness(lvl 4 spell, 400 fatigue) is it possible to give him extra gems so that he is capable of casting it? mechanics of the manual state that an extra level reduces fatige to half, two extra levels to one third. so, if he could use enough gems to get to d6, he'd survive the casting. BUT the spell requires 4 D gems, so can he use the 4 plus 2 for powering up?

i know i am supposed to test this, but the only SP game i had with D mages got deleted. please, help out poor old parone...

Mages can only use 1 gem to level-boost spells.
But he could forge a booster to get Death 5, and use a gem to boost this spell.

Most schools also have a spell that boost the path (fire, water,...) during a battle, but I don't remember whether death has one ...

Death indeed don't have one. For darkness, it's D4 or bust, so you will need a booster if you are at D3.

A D4 mage that casts darkness with 4 gems ends up at 200 fatigue because that's the maximum fatigue that a mage can end up at when it casts a spell.
