Regarding the "Hidden X" spells; the descriptions of these spells suggests that fortune/magic scales increases the likelihood of getting mages/priests with the spells. What is known about this? Does having 1Ma or 1F have a different likelihood than 3Ma or 3F (or both)? What about 1F and 1D (or vice versa)? Is there a maximum number of mages/priests that can be summoned?

Thanks!

IIRC, when I tested that, only the amount of "weak" troop seemed to change with scale. I can't find the results however, I guess it's part of what I have lost with a crashdisk.

I am sure you can get 2 mages, I don't remember ever getting 3.

Well, that sounds like a bug. Thanks, either way.

EDIT: Nevermind, my second question has been answered.

What's the difference between Fire/Frost Fend and Warriors of Niefelheim/Muspelheim? The latter cost twice as much as the former - do they have a higher resistance value? Is the cost increase just a premium for being in the opposite path?

Do the two groups of spells stack?

Thanks!

If you look in the inspector it shows as the same effect, so they don't stack, are identical and one costs more just because.

They are also different schools - ... Fend is in Enchantment, Warriors of ... is Alteration.

My highly scientific and reasoned answer is that it may be an arbitrary nod toward the idea that altering the nature of matter is a more magically expensive act, where as coating something with a protective layer of magic is a simpler thing. More practically it provides options for nations to have access to critical magic, specifically the likes of Neifelheim and Abysia who have strong water or fire mages respectively but lack resistances or mages in the opposite element. EA Abysia at least has very little to gain from going high in enchantment, though heat from hell is great for them.

When casting globals, does only the amount of gems used on overcast matter when competing against other globals?

No, each extra level in the mainb path of the global / dispel attempt count for 5 gems.

It's an opposed DRN thing, too. Over at SA we're pretty sure Dispel does not gain any benefit from S levels, given that a Burden of Time cast by someone in a game with D9 with a one gem overcast "beat" an S9 Dispel with 20 additional pearls (unless the participants are lying, but they're both pretty much out of the game so what would be the point).

Playing Therodos at the moment, I have to wonder... do spectral/undead units gain any disadvantage in siege defense?

Afaik, Therodos keeps producing them even when under siege, so that would be a nice little bonus.

Only mindless units have a siege disadvantage and are worth 1/10 defending a fort. So Longdead and stuff like that sucks at defending a fort, but ghouls, for example, or your spectrals, should be quite good.

How does elemental vulnerability really work?

The tooltip claims that that element vulnerability X doubles damage 'but cannot raise it by more than X'.

Some battles I have seen imply this to be simply false, at least for fire spells vs trolls (vulnerability 10):

some have taken 19 damage (or other odd - as in not even - values), which if the rule above was followed, would simply not be possible, because if pre-vulnerability damage was 9, it would become 18. If it was 10, it would become 20. The cap is not an issue here.

It's possible doubling refers to to doubling (DRN+damage rating)after rolling, or the damage rating BEFORE rolling, but that doesn't match my numbers either....

Other possible explanations:
- I ran into a battle report bug?
- since fire is AP and protection is halved, the pre-vulnerability damage actually has a 0.5 which is later doubled (assuming it only rounds at the end)

What does a, say, lategame EA Mictlan blood hunting scheme look like? How many hunters and patrollers?

2-4 priests with SDR per province who have more than ~4000 inhabitants.

Fort can be exempted if you want to be sure to recruit.

I personally go for 40 patroller for 3 Blood Hunter and 2x40 patroller for 4. That's up to taste, the more patroller you put, the more slave you have, but the pop die quicker.
