petrification kills units, who fail MR check. Eventually Stone Sword affects wielder too, so sky-high MR is essential to have to use this weapon. |

Units with the stone being tag are also immune to petrification, which is why your crusher was unaffected by it. Agartha's statues are also stone beings so they can wield it and not worry about killing themselves by mistake. |

Ahh, so thats why my crusher was so useful. tnx for letting me know And yeah, i have golems alrdy and one of them is wielding it now. I hope Argatha likes it =) here comes my next question: So i have 2 kings of elemental fire out and thinking about casting firestorm. However iam quite uncertain of its effects and thus cannot evaluate if its feasable or not. Since its a 500 fatigue spell my king wont do anything after that if iam not mistaken. So how much dmg is firestorm dealing. My opponent has ancient ones with 66+ HP and 7 regen, buffed to the teeth with earth spells. And many of them. So i wonder if Firestorm is a good option. I just reachend Ench8 and can cast flameward (or how its called..., the 'whole army fire resistence' buff) Now if i where to have my 2 kings with my army and have one cast flemward and the other one firestorm, would that be better than buffing them up and sending them into combat? tnx for again! edit: I know most of the effects can be seen in the dom4 gamefiles, any hints how i can find/open those? and i heared about a debug mod that would let me test out certain things, any ideas if thats still valaid/useful? greetings |

I think golems are clay, they are not stone-being. so they can be petrified if I'm not wrong. I don't remember the damage of fire storm, but it's going to deal some damage. If the armies are big and the battle is going to last long, it's probably a good idea, but if your enemy has armors, most of the effect may be reduced by armor and then regenerated away. Then again, you'd have to deal with the regen somehow. The debug mod allows to set up a scenario without having to do all the research, to it's a good way of checking whether it would be efficient. |

Firstly, read the manual. There is a section at the end that gives detailed mechanics explanations for spells like Firestorm, how many units it hits and how much damage etc. Secondly, the Dominions Data inspector lets you see any unit, spell, site etc in the game. It's basically the Dominions bible:http://larzm42.github.io/dom4inspector With regards to your specific situation, Firestorm is probably not going to be great. It only does relatively small damage and the Ancient Ones will just Regen it away. You will probably find them more useful casting big evocations like Falling Fires or as SC's on the front line. |

yeah, i skimmed the post and assumed he meant an agarthan statue was using it. having a golem use it is less safe because it will get killed eventually even with very high mr. |

This is a quite niche, so I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if anyone can answer, but... What is the chance of an unit catching fire or being frozen when suffering elemental damage of that type? Intuitively, it could be based on the % of max HP lost from the attack...but I haven't actually run tests on that, and these status effects can also be caused by fatigue damage (though comparing fatigue damage to max HP could also make sense). Any thoughts? |

So I can't seem to find the answers to the following questions: (Note that I try not to read too many strategy guides, as the group I'm going to do a MP game with are each coming up with our own tactics rather than using the "meta" ones which are probably better. I want my strategy to be a result of my own theory crafting.) > Communions: Do Blood methods of entering communions (Sabbath) cause them to join the same communion as the astral methods (Communion)? I.e. if I have two astral mages cast Communion slave, and two blood mages cast sabbath slave (Or w.e), do I have two communions of 2 each or one communion of 4? > Do units that are diseased spread the disease to other units in the same army/province/squad? > Do arrows target people or squares? I.e. if I build an anti-SC archer, can he hit a size 2 SC, or is he only effective against size 6 SCs? > How does precision work? Like I know it's hard to hit the right space at super long range, but how does that get compared to the defense of an SC? >> I.e. Does my archer need to be point blank range to have a chance at shooting a defense 30 SC? > Do multiple blood hunters in one location have the normal chance of finding slaves individually? (SUCCEED = 10% + 40% per blood then a check that is SUCCEED= 100% if pop > 5000 then a check that is FAILURE = to half unrest or something like that.) And if multiple succeed do they both get the normal open ended d6 +1 per blood level? > Does regenerations stack? I.e. if I have a sacred werewolf. He has regeneration 10%, and my bless gives him regeneration 10% and then I give him a ring of regeneration for another 10%, then he casts personal regeneration, then my mage cast a battle field wide mass regeneration. Does he now have 50% regeneration? 40%? ..... 10%? I tried to set this one up to test, but couldn't get a clear answer. |

1: They join the same communion, and the route they used to join the communion is irrelevant except for the blood slave use and fatigue involved in casting the initial spell. Mages with a matrix item also function indistinguishably from all other participants. 2: Diseased units don't normally spread their disease. There are high-level spells that do something like that, but if you have a problem that looks like that, odds are you're standing on a hidden disease-spreading magic site. Or you're standing in the dominion of MA C'tis. Either way, move your units out of the unit-killing province. 5: The blood hunters take their check one-by-one. The first one makes an attempt and applies unrest to the province, and then the second one makes and attempt with the increased unrest from the first one. Frequently you are restricted in the number of viable and safe blood-hunting provinces you have to work with, however, so the minor losses in efficiency from extra hunters sharing a province are often acceptable. 6: Most sources of regeneration stack with other sources but not with multiple copies of the same source. For instance, spell regeneration from personal regeneration does not stack with spell regeneration from mass regeneration, because they both apply the same effect with the only difference being the selected targets. |

Thanks Kobold. For anyone else who knows, my unanswered questions: > Do arrows target people or squares? Like I know it's hard to hit the right space at super long range, but how does that get compared to the defense of an SC? >> I.e. Arrows and other missile weapons don't use the attack/defense interaction. The archer's precision score influences which square of the battlefield he hits. The manual has quite a good explanation of this. |

How do sites with disease work? Is there a flat chance for every unit in the province to become diseased? And is there a difference between the various sites eg. well of pestilence, plaguewater stream etc? Also, I remember it was possible to keep diseased units alive by using ring of regeneration and a battle in dom3, not sure if thats still possible in dom4. |
