And if you need patrollers as lanka, never forget the call of winds spell. Commander and flying troops. Very good at patrolling. (They have a hidden -1 at sieging, so not good at that). I used them to big effect in the past. (Yes you can use mages to summon undead who can also patrol for free, but these take up way more turns and another commander to get. So using a few air gems could be a lot more effective). And one in 3 of your Rhaksharaja can cast the spell.

It used to be that the asrapa had hidden magical paths if you GORed them. That might be gone, the danava still have them. (and become good SC's/thugs when GORed, if you are lucky and get magical paths (they can get 0-2 blood 0-2 air and always get 2 holy).

But personally I found the undead summoning a bit overrated. As you are already a blood nation you need a lot of research. And each mage you use to get undead reduces your research output.

(Looking at the spell and paths of vanilla dom4. I miss CBM. Wind ride uses air 5? there goes the dakini alpha strike attack... :( (it was great, dakini, with a vine shield, self bless, mist form, and one other protection spell, attack rear/archers. Bye bye PD! (And with the flying their map move made them very hard to catch))

Use indie priests to produce undead. They're much less expensive in infrastructure, gold, and opportunity cost. If you're finding it underwhelming, that might be why.

Also, it seems you're confusing wind ride and cloud trapeze, unless there is a trick I'm missing.

IIRC they get a mix of ghoul (common) and pisacha (rare), because it would be *too* good otherwise.

Not that rare. A quick test suggests the chance of pisachas instead of regular ghouls is 50%.
Do remember that while they have better HP & Str, they are also size 3.

Yeah, as I said above, I never had the spare cash to build temples to get indie priests in a lot of places. (I tend to get more mages, esp as a blood nation)

And yeah, cloud trapeze, my bad. Well, if it is still a3, that is a grand spell to use on dakini.

(Yeah my grumpy old age is making my memory go all loopy, confusing spells etc. If only I had a wiki to look them up in...).
[Maerlande] Because it was a smart idea. Soyweiser was right.

Good to know on the percentages.

And yes, size 3 instead of size 2 can be a problem, considering you probably want as many paralyzing claws hitting the enemy as possible. On the other hand, 2 pisachas are cheaper (in indie priest turns and popkill) than 3 regular ghouls, so I'll take em anyway.

You pretty much have to stop recruiting palankashas from turn 6-7 and onward and focus on rakshasas instead of yoginis to be able to afford both the temples and your extra infrastructure (forts, labs...). This leaves you vulnerable for a short period of time (like around turn 15), but it snowballs very, very quickly and if you can survive with a decent amount of land and temples until like turn 30 (when you should get stuff like dakinis or darkness), you're pretty much unstoppable.

Why would you be that vulnerable? Assuming you have a good bless, you can summon a lot of troops using the low level blood summons.

And you can easily get up to h3 with a B2 random Kala-Muhka and the blood sabbaths. (you need 3 blood mages of course). Unless sabbaths don't boost H levels anymore. (not sure about that).

Which is another thing against the summoning of a lot of freespawn undead imho, you need the bloodhunters. (I'd rather have 1 kala-muhka and not 3 indie priests in most situations).

(but remember im a gumpy old dom3 player, I don't have a lot of exp with dom4).

(Edit: Played them a bit last night, def harder than I remember. The lack of order is annoying. (if you take order your troops get a lot weaker), and bloodhunting is harder without the tax slider. Not that im telling you guys anything new here.).
