I have a question that I hope someone can answer (and am I in the right subforum?) I'm scripting some S1 mages to cast Solar Rays (S2, Evocation2), another one is casting Light of the Northern Star to raise those mages to S2 So from battle turn 2, I should be able to cast Solar Rays When I look at the battle script, the spell turns red, I guess because the script engine does not detect the LotNS (seems logical to me) ![]() When I give one of these mages S gems, the spell turns white ![]() There seems to be no gem requirement for Solar Rays, I'm not sure I understand this mechanic. Can someone please explain this to me or is this a bug? Thanx! |

Mages can use a gem to cast a spell as if they were one level higher. This can allow them to halve the fatigue cost of a spell or to cast a spell of one level higher than they normally could. Note that a mage can only use as many gems in a single casting as they have levels, and can only raise their effective level by one. So you cannot, for example, use a A1 mage to cast the A2 spell wind guide (unless the A1 mage has previously cast storm power to raise their air magic level), which costs a gem, and so would require two gems (one to raise the caster's level and one for the spell itself). |

The scripting of any commander / mage does not take into account other commander / mage scripting : the spells you scripted will always appear red in the army setup screen, but your mages will be able to cast the spells in battle. (if you didn't mess up with the buff mage orders) |
