Need help with a really geared oracle pretender

I equip a bunch of commanders with smashers, they are all killed instantly. I throw cavalry at it, they are all killed instantly. Ranged units can't hurt it, my pretender can't hurt it, none of my mages can hurt it.

We're going to need a bit more info than that. What has it been casting specifically? What are your research levels? What can your pretender do, in forging or battlemagic? Is this their last fort (I assume their capital)? What nation are you facing? Do you have any indies with paths/crosspaths not nationally available to you (eg Jade Amazons, Magus, etc)?
You might still be able to kill it with fireballs or other fire evocations. The Burning Pearl only gives +5 fireres. If you have a way to communion up an E mage (or Earth Boots on an E1), you can spam Shatter at it, although it's MR is high enough that that would be a less-than-reliable method.
Star Fires, at Evo1 & S1, might actually be among your best options, especially early game. It's range 30/fat 20, AN, spammable by all your augurs, and has +2 precision, which (if I understand the mechanics correctly) is mostly needless against a def 8 size 6 thing anyway. I'm fairly certain that's almost a guaranteed 5 points of damage per augur per turn, 10 if both effects hit. At 78 hp, it will take you about 8-16 turns with a single augur, and two-four turns with 10+. (Somebody please let me know if I'm in some way incorrect or otherwise missing something, Star Fires is not a spell I use very often.)
If you're sitting on top of their capital and have eliminated most of their dominion, then it really might be simplest to just preach them to death. You have H2 foreign recruit priests and H3's from your capital (which you should have some of near your main army anyway because healing is awesome). Sure, it's kind of slow and painful, but it works better than throwing three-bajillion Principes at it. While it could still teleport out, IIRC the Oracle can't break the siege in the normal way because it's immobile.

Ice and Earth elementals are worthless as they cannot trample.

Or have fun, call swarms and let dragonflies with AN bites eat fountain alive.

Easiest solution is to preach out this pretender.

MR negates spells? Shatter might not be the best since it's range 10.

You can obviously forge Eye of the Void and Spell Focus and with some effort, a Rune Smasher:
1)Get to Construction 6
2)Forge a Skull of Fire with an Augur Elder
3)Forge a Water Bracelet with a F1W1 Pontifex
4)Give the Skull and Bracelet to the above Pontifex, who is now F2W2
5)Forge the Smasher

You could forge a Flame Helmet instead of the Skull if you had a F4 Augur Elder, but that's extremely unlikely.

With the Smasher, Eye and Focus you have +5 penetration, which should go a long way.

Air Elementals won't do anything through the 19 lightning resistance. But Fire or Water should work.

Outpreaching the Oracle is IMO best idea, as killing the oracle within lower dominion if you really need it gone quick is far easier with (IIRC) -8 MR penalty swing.

Elementals are expensive in many ways, and not foolproof since Shock Wave can kill Fire elementals quite quickly. Water elementals can hardly be massed without native W3 access even through communions, and they're likely too vauable otherwise.

Simply dozens of comminioned Augurs spamming Soul Slay, or Pillar of Fire if there's enough research done, are enough for killing any SC or immobile. You only really need penetration boosters if you are afraid to lose lots of research in the process (which is admittedly big deal), and the boosters can be lost too if the mage is killed. (IIRC, Paralyze doesn't work on #bonusspells so it's worse than useless.)

100 hp isn't really a lot unlike Monolith or Irminsul have, so several (>5) dual Duskdagger thugs with Copper plates and Flying boots (or better yet, Gift of Flight casters) would do the trick too.

Regardless, preaching is the best way to go, even if you intend to kill the pretender manually afterwards.

MR 23 isn't good MR.

There is about 2% chance to penetrate MR (difference 12 as it rolls vs 11 iirc), twelve Augurs scripted to cast Soul Slay for four rounds (comm master;s.slay;s.slay;s.slay;s.slay) will slay it during first five rounds with about 63% probability. And EA Ermor should have tons of Augurs in middle game.

This was my first time playing EA Ermor, didn't know what the faction's strengths or weaknesses were and I never play EA so I got fucked early on and didn't get hit with the consequences until I tried to besiege Agartha's capital. I only had like 6 augurs in total by this point, I believe. I should have been constructing temples every step of the way towards their capital too.
Thanks everyone, now I have more reliable ways to deal with a situation like this when I next encounter it.

Looking at that pic, you generally should recruit WAY more mages. And less mundane commanders - getting a Legatus or two for the morale bonus is nice, but mostly you should just rely on the independent commanders, which you can get at most fortless provinces, for troop movement. Mages are so important you want to spend almost all your fort recruitment time on them.

It's really a game about magic and mages.

And less mundane commanders - getting a Legatus or two for the morale bonus is nice, but mostly you should just rely on the independent commanders, which you can get at most fortless provinces, for troop movement. Mages are so important you want to spend almost all your fort recruitment time on them.

It's really a game about magic and mages.

Yeah I made a huge mistake early on and continued with it without really realizing. I usually actually build a ton of mages when I play LA but this time I neglected to build nearly enough augurs. Next time I play as ea ermor I will have learned from my mistakes. I should have built a lot more temples too.
