So, I was wondering how people feel about low blesses. It seems to me a lot of time when people talk about strategies it's either "go big or go home", in that either it's at least an x4y9 bless, or blesses just don't enter into it. Fiddling around with MA Marignon, I'm considering a dormant A4E4S4 Titan of War and Wisdom. The idea would be that the E and A blesses help the mages (and the E bless helps the knights to a lesser degree), while the S4 allows summoning Harbingers without needing to fiddle around with boosters. Dormant allows her to come online in midgame to get a few Earth sites and drop an important spell or two in an important fight. The difference in cost between a high and low bless seems so huge; I considered both A9 (prec/air shield) and E9 (for communions) but that's three and a half scale's worth of points. Am I spreading too thin thinking like this? I could give up combat uses and save 25 pts by going for an enchantress, or I could take a different chassi to get a x4y9 bless instead? I don't want to crap all over my scales, that's for sure. Imprisonment is an option, but I feel that by the time she awakens, most of the game is over. (Granted, this is SP rather than MP, but I still find the AI hard to beat without relying on a few specific abusive tactics, and I like to take thematically fitting options; I'm not into the idea of say, a major death bless for Marignon) |

I get why you would want that. But I don't see how you can play without Nature magic with these human nations with geezer mages. I've played LA Man a lot and they get so many afflictions getting Gift of Health isn't an option. Plus I find myself with such big armies that I have to have tons of Cauldrons of Broth and Summer Swords to feed these guys. I know many nations don't have these issues, but MA Marignon has so much fire magic on their mages (plus you have to feed guys) that I feel you have to use the same approach. Literally gotten the H4 Marignon hero before and had him die in less than a year because he got an affliction, without ever venturing outside the capitol. The Grand Masters are like perishable items, you just recruit one when you need one because they have a shelf life. Makes it kind of complicated to go down the Harbinger path or even have them keep breathing while site searching. |

The trouble with going for multiple minor blesses is that most of them really don't do very much. Sacred troops already have massability problems, since they are holy-capped and usually capital-only. They usually cost a gold premium, and it is usually hard to cost-justify recruiting large numbers of them if you haven't invested heavily in a bless that makes this gold premium more justifiable. A few extra hit points or a +2 to a couple stats isn't going to turn them into super-units like 150% attack damage or nearly double hit points plus regeneration will. Mostly I find that I'm willing to push minor paths a little bit higher than I would have otherwise if I get a minor bless effect out of it, but I'm not willing to go out of my way to pay for a completely new path just for a minor bless. In the case of MA Marignon, you're already dealing with dreadful expansion which will certainly make you an appealing target for early war, and you need to fix this above all else rather than paying points for a tiny bonus to your mages. So you go awake expander or major bless for the cavalry, because you won't benefit from any mid- or late-game bonuses your pretender can offer if you don't survive past the early game. If you fix the expansion problem with a bull, though? Yeah, grab that e4 or e6 bless, it'll make your bull better for expansion, your mages better for combat, and you'll be able to do more earth stuff past the early game. Worth dropping a scale for that package since you were planning to use an earth chassis anyway. |

It depends exactly which units do you want to bless, for Mari you should focus on your mages so E4A4 are good alternatives, if you want to bless your knight, you need W9 or N9 to make them worthy(work best at expansion), and then flagellants are too weak but any good bless make them cannon fodder with some durability. Then if your focus is your angels, instead of going N9 to give them regeneration you can take a pretender with Nature magic to make regeneration ring, and use earth/fire/air to make an armor (I don't say name of items because I use Magic Enhanced mod so many items I use doesn't appear). Also titans are good pretenders because some of them are good expander and later you can give them items to make them stronger, unlike monster that are stronger at first and then you can just equip an accessory. |

Another thing to consider is the possible boosters your Titan can forge. E4A4 gets you staff of elemental mastery, and S5 can be boosted to S7 with a star shine skullcap and crystal coin allowing her to forge rings of sorcery/wizardry. |
