Banning The worst case scenario for someone who just won't stop swimming against the current is a ban (of varying degree). This is a community for people all ages/sexes/races so please take that into consideration when posting. Breaking the following rules will get a warning against your name. The severity of of the infringement will determine how serious a warning. Courtesy & The Basics Avatar & Signature File Size Avatars can be no larger than 150width x 100height pixels. Although it is possible to upload an avatar that is up to 1Mb in size, we ask that you keep them no larger than 20kb. Space is always limited and we want to allow a lot of people the chance to have an avatar. Dimension limits for signatures are upto 100 pixels tall, and up to 500 pixels wide. However, the area of the signature must be less than 28,000 pixels (or 36,000). That is; the length of your signature multiplied by the height should give a figure less than 28,000 pixels (or 36,000). This slightly more complex system is to give a bit of freedom as to signature dimensions, so that you can have 'tall' or 'wide' signatures if you prefer; the area limit is put in place so that you can't have both simultaneously. Each of those signatures has an area of 28,000 pixels. If you don't have the time to work out an area on your own, you could use one of those sizes. The filesize limit is 57kb. This is a total limit, it is 40kb for your signature as a whole - not 57kb for each image. Icons and smilies do not count towards this limit, as users would have already had them cached by seeing the smilies used in other threads. They're limited because of loading times on 56k - a 57kb signature takes approximately 9 seconds to load and cache on 56k. Afterwards, it loads fairly quickly. A page full of, say, 100kb signatures would take a 56k user about 10 minutes to load and cache. If you want multiple images, that's fine. When considering the area of the two, take the height of the tallest signature and multiply it by their width added. It's somewhat similar to drawing a box around the two images. Animated signatures is where we leave it up to the discretion of the user. "Anything goes", but be sure not to give people epileptic fits. Also try to remember, what's 'cool' to you could be 'irritating', to someone else; and many signature related novelties have a habit of becoming irritating after a short period of time. Prohibited Content You may not post, upload, link to, or e-mail any content that contains, promotes, instructs about, or provides prohibited content of the like listed below: * 1. Content that infringes upon any rights [ex. MP3s and ROMs] (including, but not limited to, copyrights and trademarks) * 2. Abusive, threatening, defamatory, racist, or obscene * 3. Viruses or any other harmful computer software * 4. False Information or libel * 5. Spam, chain letters, or Pyramid schemes * 6. Gambling or Illicit drugs * 7. Terrorism * 8. Hacking or cheating for Internet/online games * 9. Warez, Roms, CD-Keys, Cracks, Passwords, or Serial Numbers * 10. Pornography, nudity, or sexual material of any kind * 11. Excessive profanity * 12. Invasive of privacy or impersonation of any person/entity * 13. Hacking materials or information. Advertising and Recruitment Advertising and recruitment can only be carried out within your signature and profile page. Advertising and Recruitment via the PM system will be considered abuse of the system and a punishment will be given. Repeated occurrences will result in a permanent filter being created for the offending site. Respect & Consideration Flaming (Insulting Other Users) Posts clearly insulting other board members, individually or as a group, directly or indirectly, are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: * Name-calling ("You're an idiot", "You moron") * Direct insults ("Screw you") * Using vulgar, profane, or sexually explicit language as a means of insult * Using sexual preference terms as a term of insult in any way, shape, or form * Using race, religion, sexual orientation, culture, ethnicity, handicap, nationality, or gender as a means of insult * Offensive orders ("Go kill yourself") * Insinuations ("Are you stupid or something?") or insults towards family ("Your mom...") * Using threatening, harassing, defamatory, hate-speech, or libelous language * Trolling (Inciting Flames) Trolling (Inciting Flames) Posts intended solely to annoy and/or offend other posters by going against the clear nature of a board or topic are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: * Provoking other users to respond with flames * Provoking fans of a particular system or game, especially on boards dedicated to that system or game * Making misleading topic titles * Asking obviously useless questions * Posting false information as fact Spamming Spamming within topics is prohibited. This includes unnecessary posts, duplicate posts (where information is re-posted after it has already been stated), minimal responses (eg. 'lol', an emoticon, or responses that have no obvious thought) and off topic posts. Private Messages Private messages are just that: private. The posting of private messages received on this board is strictly prohibited. If you're sent a PM that you feel breaks a rule you may forward the PM onto a staff member. Additionally, all ZetaBoards Terms of Services and Terms of Use remain applicable to the members of the ZB Theme Zone.
