Hello ladies and gents. It is I, your humble frostbound host. Due to popular request (ie: one person's wish), I am starting a thread to headline whatever I (and, subsequently, whatever anyone else who happens to reply) know about upcoming or recently released Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, or other popular Square-Enix games. I will start by saying that I know I will end up missing things, so please, anyone who's as up on the news as I, or, likely, more in the know, please please please feel free to contribute to this fount of knowledge by adding what you know via replies to this topic! Thanks! Now, I am going to post this starter topic, and reply with current news (as of June 3rd, 2009). I apologize in advance for the double post, but since we all know this baby is gonna be super long cuz this is me making it, consider it me saving your sanity a bit, hm? Thanks. Without further adieu, I shall bring you all the current FF news I can think of. Enjoy. =D |

OK, as per usual, I start making a post only to have it randomly "back'd" on me, so fun times, let's try again. I am going to start this with a listing, via search results on GameFaqs, of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games listed under consoles that people can actually still find or use. If you think something's missing from my list, feel free to type in "Final Fantasy" or "Kingdom Hearts" under the search function on GameFaqs and you'll see what I left out (Wonderswan, GameBoy, NES, SNES, Mobile, plus any international versions it would be impossible to get in NA). With this listing up, if you happen to come across a game of interest (either you've never heard of it before and wanna know more, or you just wanna know more), you can bring it up, and I or another expert in the field (I know we have lots ) can give you some more info on it.OK, without further adieu, a really awkward list based on console (I would have fixed it up nicer but it was awkward enough removing all the "Data FAQs Board" etc style crap, so sorry )(note: anything with a star ( * ) beside it denotes it as a recent release [the last year or so] or an upcoming game. Everything else is older =P ) DS Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time * Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales Final Fantasy III Final Fantasy IV * Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings GBA Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls Final Fantasy IV Advance Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Final Fantasy V Advance Final Fantasy VI Advance GC Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles PC Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VIII Final Fantasy VIII Desktop Accessories Final Fantasy XI Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection 2007 Final Fantasy XI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan Final Fantasy XI: Vana'diel Collection 2008 Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess Final Fantasy XIV PS Final Fantasy Anthology Final Fantasy Chronicles Final Fantasy Collection Final Fantasy II Final Fantasy Origins Final Fantasy Tactics Final Fantasy V Final Fantasy VI Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VIII PS2 Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy X Final Fantasy X-2 Final Fantasy XI Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia Final Fantasy XI: Girade no Genei Final Fantasy XI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan Final Fantasy XI: Vana'diel Collection 2008 Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess Final Fantasy XII PS3 Final Fantasy Versus XIII * Final Fantasy XIII * Final Fantasy XIV * PSP Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Dissidia: Final Fantasy * Final Fantasy Agito XIII * Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children WII Final Fantasy Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord * Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon Final Fantasy IV: The After Years * X360 Final Fantasy XI Final Fantasy XI: Vana'diel Collection 2008 Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess Final Fantasy XIII * DS Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days * GBA Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories PS2 Kingdom Hearts Kingdom Hearts II Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories * PSP Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep * OK, now on to some more important info. We currently have North American release dates lined up for Dissidia (August 25, 2009) and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (September 29, 2009). As for announced games, there is more new information and trailers for Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Final Fantasy XIV, which was just announced and will be an online MMO (which will probably replace FF11 in some ways). Games yet to be released include the following: -Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, X-Box360) -Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3) -Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (Gameboy DS) -Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep (PSP) -Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP) -Final Fantasy Agito XIII (PSP) -Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Wii) -Final Fantasy XIV (PC, PS3) Now, for hints of what we know about certain games. Final Fantasy 14 seems to revolve around a similar premise as the other online MMO of the series, FF11. From what little the generic trailer has brought to light, there seems to be some war brewing (with rather interesting winged-towers carrying soldiers about through the skies above the battlefield), and your job is pretty much to take up your sword and join in. Final Fantasy 13 takes place in the world of Pulse, underneath a realm called Cocoon. Like in many FF games, there are crystals located in Pulse, the lowly world below, that choose their protectors. We have two known races, the Fal'cie and the I'cie. The Fal'cie are supernatural beings who created Cocoon as an escape from all the "badness" of the world below, Pulse. The I'cie are kind of like the Fal'cie's servants, and are believed to have the power to restore the world, as well as summon. The principal character is codenamed "Lightning", and is a female I'cie "chosen by the crystals" to bring the downfall of Cocoon. She wields a weapon very similar to a gunblade through many of the trailers. Lightning is tough, and often described as a "female Cloud". She spends a decent amount of time battling alone, since that's supposed to be a theme of the game. Snow Villiers is another companion (I believe he was referred to as "Mr. 33cm" before his actual name was revealed) of Lightning, and an I'cie as well. He uses a gun, and his status as an ally is in a constant state of flux, since he still seems to be working for the Fal'cie, unlike Lightning, who was deemed a "threat". Oerba Dia Vanille is also an I'cie (also likely referred to as "Pigtail Girl" before her name was revealed), uses a crossbow, and is an ally as well. Shiva, Ifrit, Carbuncle and Siren are confirmed summons for the game. Shiva in the game is a pair of twin sisters that turn into a motorcycle Snow uses (giving new and disturbing potential for "riding Shiva"), and Carbuncle seems connected to Oerba. There also seems to be a playable African character with a 'fro who has a baby Chocobo living in his hair. o_O ...I was kinda hoping it was a joke myself, but recent trailers have shown him in it, so...awkward. o___O I realize there's a lot more info available, but unfortunately I don't have quick access to it, so anyone who knows more, please feel free to share, or post links to trailers, or whatever. ![]() Final Fantasy Versus 13 seems to be taking place in the same world, except, like when they've used Ivalice and such, is in a different era or some such. Not much is known about Versus13, except the main character, a blue haired young man, is named Noctis, his hair and eye colour seems to change when he wields weapons (which seems to be somewhat telekinetic based on the scant few trailers we have for it), and there is a blonde girl named Stella involved. There's a very "Hamlet" feel to the game, and it seems like Noctis is the protector of the final crystal or something. Beyond that, I don't know all that much. Again, if someone has more info, please share. ![]() Dissidia is a kind of fighting-style game collecting the ten heroes/ines and villains/esses from the first ten games (plus a bonus heroine from 11 and villain from 12) and uniting them in one world as the everlasting battle between Chaos, the god of evil, and Cosmos, the goddess of good, appears to come to a head. The basic point of the game is to play through scenarios as each of the heroes, unlocking new abilities, weapons, and characters as the game progresses. Each hero has to face off against a couple of enemies (culminating, I believe, in a showdown against their respective boss), and as each character's scenario ends, you move on to a new one, until you eventually work your way through everyone's and do a final showdown against Chaos. After completing the main story, you can unlock a bunch of other features, including the various villains and two bonus characters, and also a battle arena to duke it out against the enemy of your choice. The game's opening FMV is epic, and stars Warrior of Light, Firion, Onion Knight, Cecil (Dark Knight and Paladin versions), Bartz, Cloud, Squall, Zidane, Tidus, Garland, the Emperor, Cloud of Darkness, Golbez, Ex-Death, Kefka, Sephiroth, Ultimecia, Kuja, Jecht, Chaos and Cosmos facing off. All I know is I'm greatly looking forward to it. More info on that if you need it. =) Little is known of FF Agito XIII, although there seem to be twelve characters (each one wielding a different weapon), although rumour has it that only three are actually playable (cards, katana and whip-sword), and the others are only there for online play. It looks rather FFTactics in appearance, and there are a number of nations, including Akademia, which is where our chars come from, and they are at war with other nations. Also, Cid seems to be an important figure. Like with the other Fabula Nova Crystallis games (ie: FF13 ones), it probably takes place in the same world during a different timeline/whatever. Beyond that, not much is out there yet besides some artwork. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is a redo of the mobile "FF4: The After" games starring Cecil and Rosa's son and the twins Porom and Palom as they go on an adventure, I believe to save a captured Cecil and Rosa. Rydia also seems to show up a lot, as well as, I believe, most of the other surviving characters (ie: Edge, w/e). It /just/ came out over here (ie: June 1st, 2009), so if you have a Wii, go check it out, I guess. It`s gotten good reviews, plus then you can tell us more about it, so I don`t need to scroll through pages worth of useless info =P KH 358/2 Days is Roxas's untold story from the year minus the week (the one we followed him with in KH2) he existed, and also follows around the characters in Organization XIII. We're given more of the Org, introduced to a fourteenth member, Xion (another female char who looks remarkably like Kairi...), and also seems to focus on Axel and Riku, as well as Roxas. Most of the well-known characters (from the Org to Riku, Namine, Mickey and DiZ to many old Disney and possibly FF faves) return, and we pretty much learn the secrets of the Org, about what happened to Xion (after all, it was never called Org XIV, so why wasn't she included and what happens to her?), and...yeah. I'm personally much looking forward to it. KH: Birth by Sleep is most likely the game being hinted at through the secret endings in both Kingdom Hearts 2 and KH2: Final Mix. If you haven't watched those videos/trailers, find them now. KH: FM2 is especially epic. Anyway, the game follows three keyblade masters (most likely from the much-talked-about "Keyblade War" of before), Terra (kinda Squall-looking, imo), Ven (a Roxas-look alike) and Aqua (looks a bit like Kairi, I guess). Like in Kingdom Hearts, you follow the three around through various worlds (particularly older Disney worlds like Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty). The main villain of the three is Xehanort, and the main enemies here are "Unbirths", since this is supposed to take place before the Heartless, it seems. The game is broken into three scenarios, each one starring one of our heroes. ...and since this has taken me two hours to write up, I think that's good for now. If you have any questions, comments, or want to know more, please ask. If you happen to know more and can further explain to us the awesomeness of these upcoming games, please share. If you want to know about any other non-recent release, please ask. I've played most of the above-listed games (minus Wii, X-Box or PSP only games), so if you're interested in an older FF game and wanna know if it's worth buying, you can also ask that here. And yeah, if you pretty much have anything that pertains to this topic, by all means, post it here. =) Thanks everyone and I hope this was vaguely helpful. If anyone has links to trailers or other cool things, please share those too! Enjoy, and reply, mes amis! =D |

Just a quick little update to give you all a link to a decently in-depth two-parter Demo vid for Final Fantasy XIII. FF13 Demo with commentary This is the first part, you can use it to link to Part 2 also. The first half deals with Lightning, the heroine of the tale, and her chicobo-in-his-'fro companion, Sazh. Part two focusses on Snow and his rebel group, and also shows us a glimpse, I believe, of Oerba. ...also, is anyone else hoping that maybe the reason Sazh has a chicobo nesting in his hair is because the chicobo is actually commanding Sazh, a la Cait Sith? This would be the only explanation that would not have me going "wtf" every three seconds. But I doubt they'll reveal something as epic as that. It makes me sad that they finally have a playable non-white character again (it's been, what, FF7 since that happened? FF8 if you include Kiros?), and he appears to be a total stereotype on top of being a total joke. Really, Squeenix? A black guy with a chicobo nesting in his afro? Are you serious? ..still no news on its release date. I'll keep you informed of other new goings-on. Another two months and eight days until Dissidia, guys and gals. Let's get excited =P ..also, I really hope people are reading this and getting all knowledgable and crap. It would be terribly disappointing if I've been spending so much time trying to collect info for you all to find out no one actually cares. =( So show some love and reply! Even if it's just to say "hey, this is cool". And especially if you have questions, cuz I'll try'n answer them. =D Enjoy yourselves, lemme know if there's anything you want more info on, or if I can hook you up with anything in particular. =D |

New FF game announced: FF Gaiden: Four Warriors of Light (alt. Hikari no 4 Senshi Gaiden Final Fantasy) FF Gaiden: 4WoL Trailer Not much has been revealed besides a few clips showing some brief battle combat (brief as in 8 seconds worth o.O), and the content shown above. Pretty much, it's rumoured to be a tribute-style game to the old school FFs like FF1, where, it seems, we'll have, presumably, four warriors of light, in a relatively cutesy-style, make their way through the world to, presumably, save the planet. What is known: -there is likely classes or types of chars, a la "Warrior", "Black Mage", etc. (although what said classes are and whether you simply pick out of a group at the start of the game a la FF1 or can cycle through different types a la FF3 has yet to be revealed) -the battle system seems to include the -ra and -ga spell system we're used to in later FFs, and is supposed to be faster -all party members supposedly show up on the world map -there might be an airship ..so all in all, not much. But figured I'd share. ---- Now, on to some more exciting news: NEW ENGLISH FF13 TRAILER! E3 2009 Final Fantasy XIII Trailer (Awesome) This video has officially gotten me stoked for this game. I was kinda meh about the game before this (it seemed ok but I still wanted FFVersus13, Dissidia and KH:358/2 Days more), but now I'm actually quite looking forward to it. Random musings: Is it just me, or do all the main chars/featured chars look similar to post-FF7 characters? Example: --Lightning (the main char with the pink hair and the deeper voice) as a female, pink haired Cloud, or Ashe --Snow (the blond guy) as Seifer, particularly an older version of KH2 Seifer, with the toque and the trench coat --Oerba (the blonde, pigtailed, super-feminine voiced girl) as very Penelo-like --random blonde lady with glasses (dunno who she is offhand, I'm thinkin' probably a baddie that might become a playable char...?) as Quistis-like --little blond teenage boy (also a main character?) as very much like Tidus or Vaan --that red-headed dude (who might not necessarily be in this vid, although I think he's the one here talking to Snow briefly, he's in the demo as one of Snow's fellow rebels, anyway) as very Waaka-like, and in said demo, the girl with him was a bit Lulu-ish ..it might only be because of the designs, I'm assuming that they won't be carbon copies, but...huh. The only one I can't link up to someone easily enough is the black guy, Sahz/Sazh/whatever order those letters go in, and that's only cuz the only other main black characters were Barrett and Kiros, and Sazh is neither ripped like Barrett (although is, unforunately, as comically overdone, what with the chicobo in the 'fro -_-), nor is he as lean as Kiros was, so... =P I'm loving the look of the battle system, and the story in general. Getting confused between the I'cie and the Fal'cie and which side (Pulse, the world below vs. Coccoon, the elite world above) the I'cie are on. But a quick recap tells me that the I'cie are the servants of the Fal'cie, who are supernatural beings [one of which, it seems, the group is going to go see in this video], and their relationship seems to be a merging between the relationship of the "Warriors of Light" and the Crystals in older FFs, and the heroes from FF12 and the "Undying Ones", in the sense that humans can be or become I'Cie, and that the Fal'cie seem to have their own plans for the world that involves change that not everyone (in the trailer, this seems to be the people of Cocoon/the silver haired guy and Quisty look-alike) is exactly cool with. I'm thinkin' the main party, if these FMVs and storylines are taken from more than just the start of the game, is probably Lightning/the pink haired girl, Snow/the blond guy, Oerba/the blond girl with pigtails, Sazh/the black guy, plus probably that "why are you protecting an I'cie?!" blond kid whose name I don't know, unless either Sazh dies at some point, or the blond is only a temporary char. I'm also going to hazard a guess that maybe, just maybe, the Quisty look-alike will reform and join the party mid-game or so. Why? Just because it would be awesome. Kinda like Beatrix in FF9, except more awesome since this one looks like Quistis and would, hopefully, be a main character instead of only having a short guest stint. That way, there would be 6, which is a number Squeenix likes for FF parties, and there is some balance (ie: 3 boys, Snow, Sahz, and blondie, and 3 girls, Lightning, Oerba, and the Quist-a-like), and there would be some internal drama if both blondieboy, who seems to loathe I'Cie, and Quistaganger, who seems to be part of the hunt for them, both end up becoming I'Cie themselves. I'm not going to bet money that Squeenix thought of that cool of a character-related development, but I won't say I'll be shocked if I end up being right. So yes. =P EDIT1: Extended E3 Trailer Goodness I'm thinking now that they might only have four main characters, a la "Four Warriors of Light", with them being Snow, Lightning, Sazh and Oerba, and any other characters as guests. ..this is kinda terribly disappointing, if this is the case, unless they pull an FF5 and kill one of them off and replace them with someone else. I'm hoping for the Quisty clone *nodnod* EDIT2: Plus, OMGAR, ODIN! FF13 Boss Battle Demo with Odin summoned ...*wants* EDIT4: Super High Quality Version of E3 Trailer (Japanese) The video quality on this is fantastically orgasmic, but unforunately, since it's Square-Enix's official Japanese trailer, everything is in Japanese. But if you want to make sense of everything, just watch the English dub first *nodnod* I totally suggest you rewatch this version in full-screen version just to fully appeciate the beauty of this game. --- Random FFVersus 13 news Nothing new on the Versus front pretty much, they haven't released any gameplay trailers yet, which is starting to annoy people. Which is sad because it's still rumoured to have a 2010 release. I'm hoping when they do finally release FF13 (supposedly in Q4 2009 or Jan 2010 or something in Japan..?), they'll focus more on this and get us some freaking video for it. Um, pictures? ![]() Noctis ...um, I got bored and didn't feel like scrounging up more pictures, so um, rejoice at the wonders of Noctis' lack of blue hair...oh wait.... *"coerces" Squeenix to give Noctis full-time blue hair, and not this "it's black but turns blue when he does stuff" blue hair...even though that's a cool concept I guess...*shrug** EDIT3: OMFGxinfinity, I have just realized why I <3 this game so much more than pretty much everything else. Check this out: Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer-type video + Take two, but with annoying dub ..the second one has someone doing a voice over in, I think, Spanish that starts damaging my calm about fifteen seconds into it that continues through about half the vid, but it has scenes that aren't in the other one, so um..yay? Also, I apologize if someone else has linked these vids previously (I know Lovin did post a link to an FFV13 trailer, but I don't think it was, at least, the former), but I thought they were rather epic, so hey, a video as awesome as this can deal with some reposting. =) So happy now...even if this is the third edit or something o_O --- EDIT 5: Dissidia's E3 Trailer (pretty rockin...just six weeks to go, guys!) Dissidia English Trailer (featuring some English voice acting!) I <3 Dissidia. I can't wait until Aug 25th. I have actually put in my notice that my last day of full-time work this summer will be on the 24th so I can spend my entire last week playing this game when it comes out. Yes, I am that lame. xD So stoked! --- EDIT 6 (final edit of this post, getting aggro'd -_-): Trailer for Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days: KH:358 Over 2 Days English Trailer ..I <3 this also Trailer for FF4: The After Years FF4: The After Years English Trailer ...I am somewhat shamed that a Wii(?) game has graphics this bad. And how underhyped Rydia is, considering besides Palom and Porom, she was supposed to be the principal character in the story after Ceodore, Rosa and Cecil's son. But mleh? -- ...that's all for now, folks. I'll keep you updated...please ask questions if you like, I will try'n help out with answers and such. Or if you wanna discuss good FF games to get, ask that too, cuz I have most of them. Or whatever. ![]() ..and after 7 edits, I am finally putting this thing to rest. If you are reading this before 6:43AM EST, please refresh this page and reread. So, pretty much, if you don't see this message, you know you didn't read it all. ..wait, what? o_O Edited by The Frostbound Prince, Jul 13 2009, 05:43 AM.

Since I'm sick of editting the post above, um, read that then go to these links. Funny as freaking hell! PLEASE NOTE! If you haven't already watched the demo (and/or don't want to spoil yourself at all, in which case, why are you reading these things at all...?), there are some spoilers here, at least in the sense of you see the scenes playing out, but with dubbed versions of some funny convos over the actual gameplay. The only time this might be bad is the end of the Snow dubbed sequence, which wasn't included in the demo vid I linked up here, and was a bit shocking if you don't want to be spoiled at all. So just forewarnin' ya. Stop at 2:45 or so in his vid if you don't wanna see how his opening scenario pans out. ![]() Snow's Fun Dub Cutscene Hillarious Dub of Sazh-Lightning Cutscene PLEASE ALSO NOTE: These (probably) have nothing to actually do with the game. In the sense that I don't think these dubs are actual translations of the Japanese dialogue. Just a head's up, ya know. ![]() "Let's bounce, b!tch!" =D |

I imported a copy of Dissida as soon as it was released in Japan and I must say the Japanese version is epic! The English VAs I've heard have been decent to disappointing. However, I did read that there are going to be extra features in the US version so I'm interested to see what has been added and changed. I want to know who is the VA for Squall. I have a feeling it's gonna be Doug Erholtz but I wouldn't mind a different VA. I liked Erholtz work in KHII but I don't think his voice works for the Dissida version of Squall but I could be pleasantly surprised. |

I wish they'd bring the original VAs from KH1, where applicable, to Dissidia. Mandy Moore and David Boreanaz were, imo, waaaaaay better than Mena Suvari and Doug Erholtz. I was not impressed that they replaced two VAs I thought were spot on for casting. Everyone always says that Japanese voice acting is epic, and yet NA VAs suck. I personally don't mind English voice acting, with the massive exception of Mena Suvari (she. cannot. act. she utterly FAILS to pick up on any emotion, depth or anything required to be a voice actor. Just...epic...fail.), but um, I guess I am mostly alone in that sense? What I wanna know is if they're releasing the specialty Dissidia PSP over here (particularly in Canada, since that is, ya know, where I am), since I am waiting to buy myself a PSP until the game comes out, in the vague hope that I can buy this specialty one. I am somewhat doubting it'll come out here, but I'll wait. And you heard there's supposed to be extra features in the NA release? Funny, cuz nothing I've read seems to hint at that, if anything, there's been rumblings that the NA version is supposed to be chopped DOWN. Strange how different people hear/say different things. Gotta love how no one can agree wtf is going on. It makes it very hard to share info when no on knows what's happening. o____O ..I have a feeling, though, I shall be disappointed by Squeenix's voice casting. They have a tendancy to super-butch up their male characters (did anyone else wtf when Ashe's hot dead hubby spoke and sounded like, waaaaay more butch than any 18 or 19yo should sound?), which aggros me. We'll see, like you said, maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised. Not holding my breath, though.

DISSIDIA OUT IN NORTH AMERICA! If you've been waiting as impatiently as I have for it, teleport to your nearest video game retailer and nab your copy. It was technically out yesterday, but most of my day then was spent away from my laptop, so a glorious "It's here!" post had to wait until now. I will likely write up a quick "not-very-far-into-it" style review of my initial impressions of the game, which I picked up, sans strategy guide ( ) yesterday evening, once I finally get some sleep. I am hoping to nab the official strategy guide come the end of the month-ish, so anyone who has any questions on it, hopefully your local cryomanic neighbourhood strategy god will be able to pull through with any answers or strat help or the like you might need on this game as well. For reference I also bought Crisis Core: FF7 for PSP last week, and what little I made it through in the four days I've owned it have made me really appreciate it. If Cloud would have been half as interesting or fun as Zack, I might actually have liked FF7 and ranked it in the top half of my Fave FF Games list ![]() Also for you KH fans, KH: 358/2 Days, which is a more in-depth look at the wonderfully wicked Organization XIII from Roxas and Axel and the rest of the Org's PoV, shall be coming out September 29th, I do believe. So you have a month...if you don't have a DS and want to play that, start saving up your money. If you want to experience Dissidia with me, invest in a PSP if you don't have one and we can battle our way through together, just like all the good heroes of yore. I will hopefully be updating this thread soonish with any new info gleaned on FF13, Versus13, 14, and 4WarriorsofLight, et cetera, so stay tuned! Also, show me vague amounts of love so I know someone is actually reading all this crap I'm writing so I know it's all worth it. ![]() Expect a mini-review of Dissidia up SOMEWHERE on the site hopefully before the night is over. No guarantees though, especially if when I turn back on my PSP I magickally channel some residual awesome and kick Sephy's scrawny fan-favourite arse and thus finish Cloud's PoV and open up someone else's *coughSquall'scough*, so...yeaaaah. We'll see. Anyway, I am going to bed now, more news, reviews, and similar awesomeness in about 8-10 hrs. Good luck and go buy yourselves copies of Dissidia in the meantime so we can all be caught up to the same point before I start my review.

Just a quick (and probably pointless...and not only because no one actually is reading this) update for the rare person who is actually keeping tabs on this topic. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days will be out in just over three weeks in North America, and will be released almost simultaneously in Europe and Australia as well, coming out over there about a week and a half later (it'll be out in NA on the 29th of Sept, and in EU and AU in early October; the 9th and 8th, respectively). A Gameboy DS game, the focus is on Roxas's year, minus the week spent being followed in KH2, of existence, primarily with the Organization XIII group, particularly the fiery Axel and a "fourteenth" member, and second female member of the Org, Xion. With supposed playability with most if not all of the Organization XIII members, as well as unlockable ones like Donald, Goofy, Mickey and Riku late in the game, it's looking like a lot of fun. I know I am vainly trying to finish Dissidia in time to be able to start it once it gets released over here (Dissidia is MASSIVE though, so that's likely not happening, since I have less than a week before school starts and am only about 1/8 of the way through the game, realistically speaking. But nuff o' that). Unfortunately no release dates have surfaced as to Final Fantasy XIII, Versus XIII, XIV, or KH: Birth by Sleep, although it looks like Square-Enix is tentatively attempting to get FF13 out in Japan by year's end and out over here about summer 2010. Not official yet, though, nor are there any actual dates. Final Fantasy Gaiden: 4 Warriors of Light seems to be getting released in Japan on the 29th of October this year, but no word if it'll make the jump across the Pacific, although one would hope it's likely. I don't quite feel up to further researching any new developments on any of these games at the moment, although if someone actually replies and wants some info, I shall try to deliver. Yes, that was none-too-subtle passive-agressiveness. Deal. ![]() And yes, for anyone living under a rock, Dissidia is out in North America and Australia now, and since it is after midnight, should also be out in Europe as well. So anyone who has a PSP and wants a fun, extensive, massively replayable orgasmically awesome bursting-with-Final Fantasy-ness game, go find your local video game supplier and get hooked up. Don't forget to say goodbye to the world as you spend the next six months of your life hiding in your bedroom with your trusty PSP and copy of Dissidia, only leaving for food, water, and bathroom breaks. ...no, seriously. Hope you saved up your vacation days. ![]() Any requests for information on a specific game...? |

Sorry Frosty, still haven't got around to reading the whole thing... Did a bit of scanning though. <.< I have the American version of Dissidia. >.> I haven't gotten too far but it's incredible. Some of the characters look... <.< off... And to answer any questions (saw it stated somewhere in here) yeah; the guy doing Squall's voice is either the same one from KH2 or his vocal-twin. Sephiroth is the same from KH2 and Cloud, Tidus and Jecht is the same from FFX. <.< I dunno how much help I can be with the game if anyone needs help or asks questions, but I did get the official strategy guide, doubt I'll read it or even remove the poster, though I must say; it's an awesome poster.

Yes, the VAs are mostly the same as the ones they've previously been using. -Squall's (same as KH2, but NOT KH [no longer voiced by David Boreanaz but Doug Erholtz instead) [is too old/butch to work as a 17 yo's voice, IMO] -Tidus/Jecht's (same as FF10, 10-2 in Tidus's case) [...I just hate Tidus AND Jecht. But Tidus more because he's a whiny biotch. Jecht's voice is ok, but the character's a total prick with few redeeming qualities, as per usual.] -Cloud/Sephiroth (same as FF7: Advent Children and I believe KH2, but at least Sephy's isn't the same as in KH [ie: not Lance Bass]) [I kinda like Cloud's VA and Sephy's is ok. No real issue on this case] -Cecil's (same as in FF4DS [possibly ditto Golbez?]) [I like Yuri Lowenthal, who voices Cecil, and Golbez's voice isn't the greatest but works for the char, so...meh?] That's all the ones that have been in previous voiced-versions of games. IMO, they did a quite awesome job with Chaos, Bartz, Zidane, Firion, Ultimecia (although she lacks the awesome vaguely Germanic accent-y-ness o' awesomeness), Kefka (insane!), Cloud of Darkness, Garland, and I guess Cecil and Cloud. Terra`s VA is weak but not a huge problem, and I`m not overly fond of Warrior of Light, Onion Knight (although yeah, he is like, 12, so he sounds about like it *shrug*), Golbez, Sephy, Exdeath, Jecht or the Emperor. As for Cosmos, Cid of the Luffaine (the narrator), Kuja, Tidus and Squall are all either bad or annoying. I suppose none are bad (at least not Mena Suvari-as-Aerith bad *shudder*) perse, but they don`t really fit. Well, besides Tidus. He just annoys the crap out of me. ![]() I also have the guide, and have logged 90+ hrs so far in the last under-three-weeks, and have only Inward Chaos and the more difficult of the Arcade and Duel Colosseum matches to master, so if you or anyone else needs help, um, ask? I also have Terra and Squall at level 100, so if you need tips on maxing out levels (or have tips to share), go to the "Dissidia" topic in the FFTalk-or-whatever-it's-been-renamed board. Now, back on topic. New FF and KH games. =D Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days is out in just over two weeks! Rejoice, fellow citizens! More Axel, Demyx and Zexion goodness, with hopefully some Hayner and Disciplinary Committee goodness thrown in too! SWEET! =D ...why am I the only one who is happy about that? *scratches chin* =P |

Random new news: Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (pronounced Three-Five-Eight-Over-Two-Days) will be out on Tuesday in North America and Oct. 9th in Europe. (in other words, on the 29th in NA). It looks pretty epic and has a 9.2 rating, so any KH fans or people who wanna know more about those superhot Organization XIII boys and girl(s), be sure to pick up a copy when it comes out. More on this is anyone has any questions, and I shall be getting my own copy come Tuesday and will share my opinions on it till you are all annoyed once I do get a chance to play it. Final Fantasy XIII: Coming out in Japan in mid-December '09, we can supposedly look forward to it in mid-2010, likely between April and September (it's listed, pending confirmation, as "Q2 2010" for an NA release, so the "summer" or third to sixth months [April, May, Juneish], although things can change.) Since more info will likely be released the closer we get to its Japanese release and afterwards, if anyone wants any new info, ask. =) Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light: Also coming out soon in Japan, this time late October 2010, which is surprising based on how little we actually know about it. It's got a job-class system for sure, and has very cutesy art and animation. Seems to be in the vein of early FF games like FF1, FF3, and FF5. I'll try'n wrangle up some new info if anyone's interested. Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Agito XIII: Still no release dates for either (and scant few details for Versus at all), although there's a slightly interesting trailer for Agito (type "agito xiii" into a YouTube search, and check out the 2+ minute trailer there) online right now, showcasing, in main, one of the characters, who's referred to as "Tarot Cards", who throws said cards and SUMMONS things. Like ODIN. To FIGHT for him. Epic. Win. If anyone wants what few known info there is on either of these games, ask. =D Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep: Not much new here either, although some new scans are kinda making me go "wtf mate..?" since they show a character almost identical to Roxas (or POSSIBLY Roxas period) as one of the three heroes (Ven I believe, since I think the older lookin' guy who vaguely reminds me of Squall-as-Leon is Terra, and the chick is Aqua), but otherwise, just that it'll be out in Dec 2009 in Japan, supposedly, so we can likewise look forward to it over here sometime in 2010, most likely. ...I feel like I've forgotten something, but meh, should be good for now. Any new news will be up as I learn of it. Feel free to ask questions or ask for more information should anyone reading this actually want anymore. Or if anyone reads it. Ya know, whatev. ![]() I'll be back at the very least next week to update you on the awesomeness of KH:358/2 Days. =D Till then, keep frosty, mes amis! |

I still find it funny that Ven and Sora translate to the same thing (air), as does Terra and Riku (land), and Aqua and Kairi (Water). |
