Final Mix has always been Japan-centric, it's their version of the added stuff the international versions always end up getting, and then some. Sure, it sucks that it isn't being released over here (specifically because of the lack of getting the code for Cloud's alternate outfit in Dissidia: Duodecim), but it's nothing entirely new, and if you're hardcore enough, Square-Enix obviously thinks, you'll order Final Mix no matter where you are just to get that code, even if you can never play it Oh, capitalism, how I love/loathe thee. x___X As for the game, I find that simply reducing max HP and making enemies twice as strong and you twice as weak does nothing for me. It's not more of a challenge, it's mostly just blatantly saying "Hi, I'm a Flood, if you let me hit you twice EVER, you die. " If I wanted to spend 8 hours on a simple random encounter to simply survive it, I would....not. Ever. The game is enough of a challenge in Proud Mode, specifically the initial worlds, simply because your characters can't GO anywhere else to outlevel the enemies in order to survive. True, once you get yourself a good five levels above the curve (ten is better), everything else is pretty much a walk in the park, but it's those initial first worlds (and the annoying "escort quests" therein) that make or break your willingness to play the game. And I dunno about you, but if, after five attempts, I continue to get a game over screen, I'm whipping the console across the room and stewing in my eternal hate for the game, not lauding it on how difficult and awesome it is.I've been having enough of a problem with Aqua's scenario on Proud Mode---she is weak, pure and simple. Take the Flood, the Shadow of the BbS world: it takes maybe 3 hits for an average levelled Terra to take it down. It takes Ven maybe 5 or 6. IT TAKES AQUA AT LEAST 8-10 HITS TO KILL IT! EIGHT! What the hell, mate?! Don't even get me started on the Bruisers and how often I died (just takes three hits from them) when I started her first world just because SHE HAS NO HEALING ABILITIES AND NEXT TO NO WAY TO ATTACK THEM WITHOUT GETTING NEAR ENOUGH TO GET SMACKED AROUND AND KO'D x____X I resolved most of that by painfully slowly killing them with abilities and hoping to go into Spellspinner mode, but even at level 7, it was still taking waaaaay too long for her to kill things, and she wasn't levelling up quickly enough because THE ONLY THINGS THAT GIVE DECENT EXP ARE THE BRUISERS THAT CAN STILL THREE-HIT KO HER -_-U ...needless to say, even though I've finished Terra and Ven's story, and was much looking forward to finishing off Aqua's and getting to the final events, I've put the game aside and been playing a combination of Final Fantasy: Four Heroes of Light, Final Fantasy II for PSP, and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. ...yes, I enjoy having my brain explode from endless possibilities, thanks for noticing. o__O But yeah, eventually I will get back and finish Birth by Sleep (and hopefully, also, 358/2 Days, which I stopped playing at about day 70 or so), just as soon as I can calmly return to senseless level grinding so that when I have to do her escort quest later in the first world, I don't die eight billion times in a row because it's taking her a half hour to kill the first wave of enemies -__- But I'm glad you're enjoying the game (and finally have it). If you have any issues, I've gotten quite good at a lot of things (minus the Disney Town minigames and, like, using Shotlocks), so I can totally help out if you have most issues *shrug* Also, keep in mind you get an award in your Trinity Archives if you spend 80 hours of combined playtime in all three scenarios (so your time-to-complete total for Ven's scenario gets added to that for Terra and Aqua when you finish theirs), so MORE TIME SPENT PLAYING IS BETTER. I put about 35-40 into Terra's, and 50+ into Ven's, so I already got it when I beat Ven's scenario. I have all the difficult ones left for Aqua's (like actually getting the Frozen Fortune command style and activating it 30 times, and other annoying ones like that o___O), so....yeah. Anyway, I'm off. Glad to hear you're enjoying BbS, even if you're a bit more sadomasochistic for my tastes

I don't think it's taken me more than three "Game Over" screens to beat a single boss yet. o.o I usually level up to about 5, maybe 10 in the first world then continue. XD I'm pretty good at the game myself. I've had it maybe 3 weeks? Umm... So yeah. I'm so used to Dissidia, when I played Ven's story... The backwards-weild intrigued me, because >__> if keyblades were real and I was a keyblader, that's how I had imagined I'd hold one, though I never imagined there would be a keyblader that would hold it that way. AAAAAANYWAY... Umm, so I was so used to Dissidia that I was dodging every so often and getting behind enemies to attack in KHBBS as well. Seems they are all (including bosses) very slow when it comes to you getting behind them. Of course they do react between one and three seconds, but by then you've hit 'em enough not to care. As for shotlocks, Ragnarok is my favorite. It's what I killed Vanitas with using Ventus, and it's what I killed Zack with (twice) using Terra. So, that said, it's one of the most powerful in the game, next to the other light-based one. I usually get a good/excellent range on them, but in most battles, I don't wanna risk exellent and miss. I've got a pretty quick react time. lol I've saved Aqua for last, mainly because she's another character that intrigued me, the first playable female of the series, well out of the games I've played, anyway. I haven't played 358/2 days and don't know a thing about it other than it being centered around the ORGANIZATION. I've scanned through the strategy guide (no not for any fights, but I did use it to find out how to get Ragnarok) for like treasures and stuff, but I've seen that Aqua has some pretty decent abilities she can gain. Her block is the best in the game because it blocks from all sides, whereas the other blocks only block from the front. I usually buy strategy guides to either help others, or for posters/graphics (that I'll probably never put up). Edited by Sora, Mar 11 2011, 11:50 AM.

Lol Aqua was magic based, so ofcourse her attacks are weak, I had no problems with Aqua, since I used magics all the time, beat her story with all items and stickers found in 13hours Finished the Terra story in a bit longer time since i played all of the arena modes with him, that was fun I have a thing against kids, so never bothered playing for Ven x]]]] cun't wait for Dissidia 012!!!! Gonna go play fallout vegas nao >:3 you guys tried it yet? it has sum pretty funky bugs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToKIkw3LIoQ&feature=player_embedded |

Mmm, see, even though in theory I should love mages, since I love the concept of magick and especially summoning, and find that games without either (but particularly without summons) tend to suck in my opinion, I should love playing as Aqua. But in reality, I tend to just abuse the attack command since it's usually easier, and no offense to BbS's battle system, but besides Mega Flare, most abilities tend to suck, and it's usually just easier to hack away than actually use your other commands. Aqua, I've learned, though, is the exception to the rule. Her strength is so low in comparison to the boys that she probably is better off using commands, or shotlocks, or whatever. But since I've become so accustomed to just hacking away, it's been hard adjusting accordingly. So...yeah, that kinda blows. As for Ven's story, I think his is, so far, the best of the three. I might be biased, though, because I much prefer Ven's VA to either of the others, and Ven's story has fun cutscenes involving Axel/Lea and Zack. I do suggest checking it out, if only for the ability to fully complete the game, and that if you really enjoyed the game like I get the impression you did, you should still enjoy Ven's scenario, even if Ven is a "kid". As for the comparison to Dissidia, I never did quite master the "avoid enemy attacks" thing. Or how to really move besides rushing ahead using triangle or whatever. Which was probably why evasive, quick-hitters like Onion Knight, Sephiroth, and Kuja were the bane of my existence. It's probably also why some of the only awards I haven't gotten in Dissidia are the ones for [insert number here of] successful blocks or dodges. I am likely going to replay the game just before the sequel comes out, so hopefully I'll catch on to how to successfully block and dodge, cuz being able to face Onion Knight/Sephiroth/Kuja/Warrior of Light/Tidus/etc... without worry would be nice. Although in all honesty, when you main as Bartz with Flood as his main ground ability, and just stay on the ground and spam square or whichever button uses HP attacks, you can generally kill anything besides level 100+ OK/Sephy/Kuja/WoL enemies with relative ease, with only a few upsets if you let things get out of hand or try going on the offensive with either Brave attacks or air-based HP attacks like Tornado. As long as there's no time limits, Bartz (or, alternately, Terra with Flood as well) are the best bets to master the game's optional-character areas. And I can't wait until Dissidia: Duodecim. I sincerely hope we get a few more awesome characters. I'm personally hoping for Zell (or Rinoa or Quistis, maybe even Seifer or Edea), Locke (or Celes or Sabin or Gau), Paine would be an interesting additional one, I suspect Yuna will probably make it in, and Ashe (or Balthier or Fran or Basch) would be nice also. Maria or Leon from FF2 would be awesome, and it'd be cool to see Freya or Vivi or Beatrix or Blank or whatever as well. Kain would not have been my suggestion for FF4 (Rydia all the way!), but since they have him, I suspect that there likely won't be anyone else from FF4. Ditto FF7 since they have Tifa (although Red XIII would've been a cool addition, or better yet, Zack), and while I'd love to see pretty much anyone from FF13 besides, I suppose, Sazh or Vanille, since we have Lightning, I doubt Hope, Fang or Snow will make it in, so...whatever. Mmm, unknown release date is too far away. It's likely not gonna be here until the end of 2011, which is honestly just way too far away for my tastes. Blah. ![]() ...and I need to go now, so please enjoy your various FF/KH-playing and until later!

Quick update: Tifa now confirmed as playable, making her, Lightning, and Kain so far the only confirmed new playable characters in Dissidia: Duodecim. Hopefully there will still be another handful of new arrivals to be announced later (Rinoa, for example, would be another addition that would make sense to the plot of Duodecim. I wouldn't be surprised, as well, if Yuna showed up, or Auron. Locke or Celes would also make a decent addition, and Basch, Ashe or Balthier would make acceptable additions as well) I will also now be trying to update this monthly, aiming for every second Wednesday of the month, probably. So expect my next update around November 10th, unless some new updates come my way before then. So until then, enjoy yourselves and happy gaming.

I'm about ten days late for my update, but since I don't think much has happened since then, I will just say this and leave... Vaan confirmed for Dissidia: Duodecim Yes, the unsurprising news comes a few months too late to be shocking, since his English VA more-or-less spoiled it a few months back when he said he was back in studios recording new lines. Alas, Vaan was probably near the bottom of my choices for FF12 representation. I would have taken Ashe, Balthier, Basch, Fran, Al-Cid, that female Judge (Drace?), Basch's back-stabbing knight buddy (Vossler?), Carrot the escaped Malboro, Montblanc the leader of Clan Nutsy or whatever, and probably a random piece of magicite over Vaan. I think the only ones Vaan might beat for reps for FF12 I'd enjoy seeing are maybe Larsa and Penelo. LAME. But yes, how unsurprising and derivative. This now brings the new characters confirmed for Dissidia to four: Lightning (FF13), Kain (FF4), Tifa (FF7), and Vaan (FF12). I was reading somewhere there were only supposed to be two or three more new additions left to be revealed, prior to Vaan's confirmation, so if this is true, then that likely means we've only got one or two more slots to fill. Yuna is supposedly high on the list to fill one of those slots, and I'm hoping for another representative from FF8, myself. I'd also love to see another FF6 character involved, if only because they have such a wealth of options there. But we'll see. I'm hoping the rumour that there's only one or two more new characters left to be revealed isn't true, since so far we have no new confirmed "villain" types (maybe Seifer? o__O ...I still vote Zell ), and since Yuna is a fair bet for inclusion (another female character to help the massive imbalance, plus was the main character from FF10-2, and the female lead in 10), that either wraps up the newbies, or leaves us with one slot left---and I want at least one more rep from FF8 and FF6...and preferably another one from 9, maybe. Or 2. Or 13....Whether or not we really are down to just two more new, unrevealed characters is up to debate, but in any case, I hope at least one of the other new arrivals is actually an exciting and interesting choice. Since Vaan fulfilled neither of those roles ![]() As far as I know, there was nothing big revealed in any of the other games I`m updating on, so when I hear anything new, I`ll let you all know.

We tried discussing it previously in a thread somewhere...I'm not sure where it went now, actually...but yeah, as far as I know, no one HAS bought it. They extended the free trial period an extra month on top of the month it is free, but I think they ended that promotion last week (the 18th, I think), so it might be back to only being one month free. I dunno, I've stopped trying to keep up with FF14 news, at least until March when it comes out for PS3. So long story still long, no one's played it on here (besides MAYBE Sophie? Or something *shrugs*), and from the reviews, as well as how often they extend the free trial, it doesn't seem to be quite as awesomely received as they were hoping. I'll probably pick it up in March when it comes out on PS3 once I have a job to be able to afford buying and playing it, so I withhold my decision on it until I do actually play it. But from what I've heard, there seem to be better things to spend money on. If you're looking into games that are worth playing that came out recently, though, there have been quite a few good ones. If you're interested, send me a list of the consoles you have (ie: PS2, DS, PSP, Wii, whatever) and I can try to compile some of the better, still-able-to-find-able games for them. If you want. If not, that's cool too. You might want to talk to Curse, though, since she seems to know everything about new FF games, at least more than what I know about the ones I don't play myself. But unless it's out for under thirty bucks, I'd say hold off on buying it. You supposedly need a massively powerful PC to play it, from what I understand, and as an MMO, it would probably be better to actually know other people playing it. Thus why, if I do buy it, I'm waiting for the PS3 release. Better chance then that other people on here might buy it, so I'll have someone to quest with and all that. ...this still managed to be 8 paragraphs long. I am ashamed You might want to follow this up with another post just so that other people will potentially read and answer your question, or you can skim your way through previous threads in this board, and there should be one specifically regarding whether or not FF14 is worth playing. Either you can just read that for your answer, or if you really wanna catch people's attention, post in it and see if anyone else has any new news. As you can tell, pretty much no one but me reads/replies to this thread, and I still am not sure what to make of FF14. Soooo...yes. Shutting up now. Have a pleasant day and all that, and good luck finding out something actually useful on the topic

Now would be a good time to buy it. I saw it at Wal-Mart for TEN BUCKS. If you have a PSP, you should definitely grab this. If you don't, buy a PSP. Some of the best FF games released in the last few years have been for PSP, and as fanservice, Dissidia definitely delivers. And for ten dollars, you really can't go wrong (ok, 170ish, if you include having to buy a PSP...still). In other news, FF14'S PS3 RELEASE PUSHED BACK Click the link, or, just read a sort-of-maybe-shorter-version-if-Frost-can-manage-that-shocking-concept: Basically, Square-Enix realizes that FF14 has more or less epically failed in being the uber-hyped game it was supposed to be, and they're revamping their creative team in hopes of fixing that. As a result, their planned release of the game for PS3 is likely not going to meet their prior release date of March 2011, but hopefully they'll fix some glaring issues and infuse a bit more awesomeness into the game as a result. ...look, I managed to make the summary a paragraph! *throws Phoenix Downs at the people who actually read this and died as a result. In other words, anyone actually reading, so like, one person* And yes, Laguna is confirmed for Dissidia Duodecim, as well as a "world map" type system that revamps Dissidia's original FFTactics-esque "overworld" map. What exactly their new system is has yet to be released, but it's supposed to be 3D and awesome, so here's looking forward to seeing that come to light. Also, it appears that Lightning has been spotted walking around with two party members on this new map system, which seems intriguing. A party system, added to the already-announced capability to "summon" a party member into battle to help have Duodecim shaping up to be quite epic, as well as a vast improvement to the Dissidia system, not only for sheer awesomeness, but also in the sense of making the game more reminiscent of the FF games it is drawing itself from, since all had parties made up of multiple characters. Introducing anything even remotely similar to that makes the game that much more like an FF game, and not the somewhat odd, action/RPG-hybrid that Dissidia was. With Laguna, Lightning, Kain, Tifa and Vaan confirmed, this brings our cast of supposedly-playable characters to 27, including the 22 original playable characters from Dissidia. I predict the next character to be announced (or at least /another/ one announced, whether or not she's next or last or whatever) will probably be FF10' and 10-2's Yuna. With added representatives for 4, 7, and 8, as well as reps for 12 and 13, the only "popular" FF game not to get another character is 10. And since Yuna is the most likely addition, it will probably be her. Although it could be Auron, if they're lame. Here's hoping not... Besides that, with 27 characters being playable, if they round that off to the next nicest number, we're probably looking at 30 playable characters total. Which means, if you include a rep from FF10, we'll probably get two more (maybe with the option of extra unlockable characters or downloadable content ones). If they don't waste those two other potential characters by doubling up and giving us more reps from 7, 8, 12 or 13, I predict/hope they'll add extra characters from FF9 and FF6. Although adding an extra character from each game would be nice. So, if any of my predictions end up being true...well, anyone reading this died of shock back when I summarized something into one paragraph, so damn. But if not, I totally called it. Now, here's hoping they get Dissidia Duodecim released faster (and with a better quality) than the poor PS3 release of FF14. o____O And as a closing note, Kingdom Hearts - Re: Coded, a DS game, will be out on January 11th, 2011 (which is also the day of the big Fabula Nova Crystallis [aka the series of FF13-y games] conference which will hopefully lead to some new info on Versus and Agito, as well as the hinted potential sequel to FF13), and if you pre-order through Gamestop/EBGames, you can get some bonus-y stuff. I will be preordering probably tomorrow, so I will let anyone interested know the price and what bonus stuff it comes with then, if anyone shows interest. But yes, right now the only FF/KH game with an actual release date is Re: Coded, so fans of the KH series, look into it. *nod* Anyway, that's long and boring enough for now, so thank you Curse for the news (a day ahead of Square-Enix announcing it themselves! ), and have a wonderful day/night/afternoon/week/month/year/life/infinity, people. ![]() --more news will come when I feel like hunting for it. Well, it is the holiday season, so that could technically change, right? Plus, so long as it's still out somewhere, you could always pick up the Mystic Silver PSP combo pack with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. It was only 220 dollars when I bought it the day the game came out, so if it's still around, it's hopefully gotten a bit cheaper. Plus then you'd get one of the better PSP games, plus a memory stick (needed to save games---before you buy a PSP, make sure it says it comes with a memory stick---if it doesn't, you'd have to buy it separately, and it's between 20-50 dollars on its own), plus all the hardware. Pretty good deal, imo. Obviously if you're a poor college student and can't afford KD, let alone a PSP, that piece of advice is totally ignorable, but buying my PSP was probably one of the best investments I've ever made, and just taking Dissidia, KH: BbS, and FF7: Crisis Core into account, it has some of the best and most beautiful games out there. Plus, with the Playstation Network, you can download old PS1 classics onto your memory stick to play whenever, like FF8, FF7, FFTactics, and FF9 (although I recommend buying FFT: War of the Lions instead of downloading FFTactics off the PSN, personally). So...yes. I'm gonna stop whoring out the PSP now and go away. But yeah, if you have any questions or whatever on the subject, lemme know. Likewise, if you do end up getting a PSP in the near-ish future, share that as well, since I can recommend the games to grab right off and the ones that aren't so mind-blowing.

Just a quick update: Square-Enix has announced they are bringing Final Fantasy IV (4) and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, its sequel, to PSP as "Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection". The original game is getting another graphical facelift, to make it similar to that of the PSP versions of FF1 and FF2. Likewise, so is The After Years. Besides uniting both stories on one disc, there's also supposed to be added content that links the two tales. Since I was disappointed I couldn't play The After Years since it was a Wii-Ware exclusive until now (or mobile exclusive, when it was "The After" in Japan), but with this, I shall finally get to play. Just another reason to love my PSP. It's supposed to be coming out "in the spring", according to the site in question (http://www.siliconera.com/2010/12/12/final-fantasy-iv-complete-collection-jumps-to-psp-with-new-2d-graphics/), although whether or not that's for the Japanese release, for the North American one, or if there'll even be an NA release isn't given, and so far, GameFAQS still has no info on this game even existing. More when the information comes. Also, the same site teases that Chrono Cross will be coming soon on the PlayStation Network, although mentions "Japan" specifically. Whether that means only the Japanese version of the PSN will get it, or if it will be released simultaneously or sometime later is again to be announced. In any case, should Chrono Cross actually get released on the PSN, I might finally be able to play that game. The copy I bought for PS1 was sadly a very badly scratched used copy. So ![]() Anyway, I shall keep you all apprised. Until then, check out "Knights of the Crystals", a Facebook game by Square-Enix, if you're bored and in need of some fun. I've managed to make it to level 21 in 48 hours, so check it out if you're interested---and add me as a friend, while you're at it

Dissidia: Duodecim Japanese Trailer Square-Enix just posted this on their Facebook page, so I figured I'd share it with you guys. While this gives us five minutes of footage to sift through, including some new content featuring recently-revealed additions to the cast like Laguna and Vaan, it also inadvertently spoils three new additions to the cast: Edea ( ! ), Yuna, and some Magus-esque character (who could be Shadow, but otherwise, I can't quite tell who he's supposed to be). With the addition of Edea, along with the earlier reveal of Laguna, this means Final Fantasy VIII has a whopping FOUR playable characters in Dissidia: Duodecim---Squall, Ultimecia, Laguna, and Edea. Until they prove otherwise, even FF7 only has one additional character revealed, so right now, FF8 is certainly feeling the love! As of this moment, the following characters are more-or-less confirmed to at the very least make a cameo appearance in the game: -Chaos and Cosmos (FF1 and Dissidia) -Garland and Warrior of Light (FF1) -Firion and The Emperor (FF2) -Onion Knight and Cloud of Darkness (FF3) -Cecil, Kain, and Golbez (FF4) -Bartz and Ex-Death (FF5) -Terra and Kefka (FF6) -Cloud, Tifa and Sephiroth (FF7) -Squall, Ultimecia, Edea AND Laguna (FF8) -Zidane and Kuja (FF9) -Tidus, Yuna and Jecht (FF10) -Shantotto (FF11) -Vaan and Gabranth (with alt costume as Basch) (FF12) -Lightning (FF13) plus whoever mystery guy is supposed to be (I theorize Shadow, even though he looks really nothing like Shadow from FF6, although now that I think of it, it could be a villain from FF11, so that Shantotto has someone to fight--which now seems to be the most understandable option. I will update you on it once someone who's actually played that game (or otherwise recognizes who mystery guy is) makes the revelation known. More news whenever it comes out. Expect at least an update by January 12th or so, as news on the remaining Fabula Nova Crystallis games (ie: Versus XIII and Agito XIII) are supposed to be revealed on the 11th of January in a press conference. Plus Kingdom Hearts Re:coded is out on the 11th, so I'll give updates then anyway. REMEMBER: PRE-ORDER RE:CODED FROM EBGAMES/GAMESTOP IF YOU WANT SOME BONUS STUFF! KH Re:coded comes out on January 11th, so pre-order soon, before it's too late! ![]() EDIT: Mystery man might just be the alt costume for Golbez. If so, then yes, really no surprise. If it isn't, then my only guesses are either Shadow from FF6 (unlikely, since Shadow is not that buff, plus he's usually given blue skin), an FF11 antagonist for Shantotto (likewise unlikely, based off the few villains I've seen from the game who don't look like the guy in the trailer), or possibly actually Magus from Chrono Trigger (super-unlikely since Magus isn't so buff either, nor is he an FF character). So, it's likely Golbez's alt, since he is facing off against Cecil (and does somewhat look similar to Cecil and has Golbez's general appearance [broad-shouldered and macho]), but if not, I totally spotted him first. Props to me, yo! ...I also spotted Edea and pointed her out before anyone else online did too, as far as I can tell. So yay me ...[/shamelessself-promotion]EDIT 2: Sadly, Edea is actually an alt costume for Ultimecia, much in the same way Gabranth has his twin, Basch, as an alt costume. Why do I have a bad feeling tons of "OMBob, Edea = Ultimecia! :O " threads are about to pop up all over the interwebs once word of this actually reaches the masses? ![]() And yes, the "mystery dude" I pointed out IS an alt outfit for Golbez, supposedly from The After Years. So blah. The only "new" character was Yuna, who is only revealed by her feet. LAME. ![]() But at the very least, FF8 has more VISIBLE characters right now than any other game represented in Duodecim, so at least we can all rejoice that. Just figured I'd update you all. Remind me to check Square-Enix's NA and Japanese sites, as well as sites other than GameFAQs, more often. I would be much more enlightened that way

And I dunno about you, but if, after five attempts, I continue to get a game over screen, I'm whipping the console across the room and stewing in my eternal hate for the game, not lauding it on how difficult and awesome it is.

You might want to follow this up with another post just so that other people will potentially read and answer your question, or you can skim your way through previous threads in this board, and there should be one specifically regarding whether or not FF14 is worth playing.
