Oh gods, Paris Hilton has taken over his account. Kill it! Kill it with fire!

*begins casting Firaga simultaneously with summoning Ifrit, cuz he's awesome like that*
that bish stold that word from me yo. :o
*cancels summoning Ifrit and casting Firaga*

Oh. Well that's disappointing. I was kinda hoping to fry that celebutart's skanky a$$ and put us all out of our misery. Now we'll just have to wait until next time she's spotted, which, since it's her, will probably be some reality TV show that's on in like, twenty minutes -_-U

...unless you're just saying that to throw us all off, and you really are P. Hillz and have taken over yaoi's account! :o I knew it! DIE CELEBUTART SCUM! *starts casting Ultima and summoning Eden simultaneously*

...in other news, yes, I watch Glee. Although I've been continually disappointed by it this season. And am not liking how 2D and stereotypical most of the characters are x___X ...why do you ask?
OMG! i know right!! they are making kurt such a stereotypical gay guy! oh i was just asking cuz im like frieken addicted to it. lol

I have never much liked Kurt's character because he is SUCH a stereotype. And while occasionally that works for the show, the fact their only gay character is such an obvious queen is really insulting. As another gay guy, I find it offensive. We are not all whiny, lisping, "fabulous" style-maven queens who feel the need to be like women and come up with elaborate plots to get it on with the boy of our dreams.

I actually had some hope earlier this season that their newest addition, Sam, played by Chord Everstreet, would work against the stereotype. A football quarterback, relatively well-adjusted, seriously attractive, and seemingly pretty cool guy. The media hyped up the fact that he was gonna be Kurt's new boyfriend, but then, BAM!, instead they hook him up with Quinn. Which, yes, the Quinn/Sam thing is cute, but Quinn has Puck already, and we already have enough hetero-drama going on. Plus, like Quinn said to begin with, she should be focusing on herself right now. She doesn't need a man to be who she is. So...blah.

I'm still holding out hope that Sam is actually trying to play things out on the down-low so that he can make it through life in his new high school without being attacked for who he is, but it's getting less and less likely. And it's more likely they'll just introduce some other flaming queen to hook up with Kurt before the new guy dies of AIDS or something. Cuz heaven forbid we get a positive gay role model on TV and have a positive gay relationship that does end with one of them dying. Take the Willow/Tara relationship on Buffy, or the tacked-on "oh yeah I have a boyfriend, here he is in two scenes, we're running away to be together, the end" storyline for Maxxie in Skins, right before the second season finale that ended the original casts' storylines.

It's about time the media portrayed some positive role models for gay and lesbian youth. If all we get are flaming queers or butch dykes, none of whom are anything more than comic stereotypes or someone to kick, than what are we teaching our young people, and more importantly, everyone else, about how these people should act and be treated.

Sure, I'm not a butch guy. I don't like cars, or guns, or manic exercising, I'm not big into sports, and I never dated a girl besides one of my friends in Grade 7 for one whole shiny hour between one recess and the next. But I also have no interest in fashion, campy musicals, people's hair, or interior design. I don't speak with a lisp, I don't have limp wrists, and I don't try to get into the pants of every guy I see (quite a few of them are ugly, and I have standards).

I'm not saying, "hey, we need gay characters who are football-playing jocks driving muscle cars and lifting tables with four scantily-clad ladies on each of them". But I don't think it's asking too much to have a few more characters that aren't the stereotypical fashionistas who barely pass off as male anyway. We're all human, and it's about time we have characters on popular media that stop playing into these stereotypes and start simply portraying them as people. Ones who have feelings, interests, dreams, and lives completely unique from which gender they'd like to get into bed with.

As for Glee specifically, I think the show would have been more interesting if Finn was the gay one. Or bi. Or even just curious. While they still have the opportunity to go that way, I kinda doubt it. Sure, Finn's character isn't exactly a step forward in the right direction---Finn is probably the stupidest of all the characters, is fairly selfish, and really only has his football prowess, singing abilities, and good looks going for him. But it'd at least be a baby step away from the stereotype, and I suppose that's all I really expect. For the media to eventually step away from their retarded stereotypes and start allowing us to see these characters as people, and not horrible cardboard cut-outs not worthy of respect or admiration.

...and wow that was long and probably doesn't belong in the Spam thread. Oh well :D

(apologies to anyone who took offense to my use of "queer" and "dyke", obviously I'm not a fan of such terms, but when you're dealing with the negative stereotypes, that really is the most apt descriptions of such "characters", unfortunately.

No apologies, though, to anyone who doesn't like my stance that we need more positive gay characters on TV [and not HIV-positive ones, before someone makes that "hilarious" comment]. This isn't a "gay agenda" thing, this is a "I expect what I watch to actually accurately reflect real life" thing. Perhaps if we had more relate-able characters on TV, who are portrayed as intelligent, useful members of society and who aren't a constant source of bullying fodder, than maybe we wouldn't have this so-called "epidemic" of suicides involving gay teens, hm?

...rant over. Frosty out :P )
