from the list games of the way you play them makes you sound like you don't have a life :D
and i guess i could recommend portal and witcher series, those series are epic

also I feel bad if I use walktroughs when playing for the first time :/ but well it's everyones business how they chose to play
It usually takes me a few months to finish a game, or at the very least a month or so. So while yes, I might put 250 hours into a game, it's 250 hours over the course of, say, eight weeks, and not over the course of ten and a half days :P

It also depends on the game, and what's going on in my life. For example, while I was in school, I was able to put a few more hours a day towards gaming, if there was a game I liked. If it was summer and I was working, usually I'd only have the time/energy to play on my days off, and even then, only if I wasn't sleeping to recover from the previous days of work.

So yes, I do, vaguely, have a life. I've had more time to game the last few months since I've been unemployed, sick on and off, and generally too lazy/terrified to attempt to get a job. Hopefully that changes today, since I need to distribute some resumes in like, two hours or I'll have to go jump in front of a bus to make the guilt go away o____O

My sister actually owns/played The Witcher, and while she sorta liked it, I believe it was one of the ones that was "scary" and that you shouldn't play alone at night, since some of the dungeon-y-esque places have creepy music and enemies that pop out of nowhere.

As for Portal, I believe I've /seen/ someone play it (maybe one of my friends?), but no idea aside from that. I'll look into it online, but I am a very RPG-style gamer, I loathe FPS and TPS-style games with a passion, and action-y games also similarly elude me. But I'll look into it, although odds are, I likely won't play it, since yeah, wayyyyy too many games I wanna play right now, and not enough time/energy/sanity to manage em all o___O

And I understand that a lot of people have an irrational disdain for strategy guides or walkthroughs, especially when playing through the first time. I personally don 't consider it "cheating", but a lot of people do. To each their own. Like I said, I use them so I know where treasures are, and so that I don't accidentally walk "the right way" when exploring locations. I fight my own fights, and otherwise do everything else for myself, unless of course I have problems, in which rare case, I will consult the guide in question for how to do things.

So yes, pretty much just maps, for me. I don't like getting lost and missing things, and I especially don't like going in the direction I'm supposed to be going in, if I haven't fully explored the rest of the map. I don't like wasting my time, and unlike many other gamers, I want to get everything I can out of a single playthrough, since odds are, it won't get replayed for a very long time, if ever. So might as well make the most of it while I'm there :P

But yes, to each their own. If you feel guilty for using guides, or otherwise don't like it/think it's cheating/would rather figure things out for yourself, that's awesome for you, do it. But like I said, if I'm gonna put dozens of hours into a game, I wanna know I'm at least exploring the maps right the first time, and not missing anything. If random enemies manage to KO me, fine, but I don't wanna have to replay entire sections of the game, if not the game in its entirety, again just cuz I missed an item I would've known about if I had just known of its existence. :P

And my official guide for Duodecim is supposedly in today, so at some point I need to head down and pick it up. Now for the real question: do I resume playing Duodecim and attempt to finish it, or actually start FF4: The After Years? Questions, questions... In the meanwhile, I need to double-check my resumes, shower, get dressed up all pretty, and walk down my street throwing resumes at any interesting local locations in hopes of finding a job I can walk to. Since if I don't get a new job soon, I am going to either have to move back home, or put my name in at the same vaguely horrific fast-food-y restaurant chain I left. Which I don't wanna have to do. So bleh.

Anyway, yes. Gaming is awesome. Must do more of it. Alas, if I want to be able to buy new FF/KH games when they finally release, I must find a new job and start making some money. Since what I have will be gone come sometime midway through June, probably. Bleh. So yes, off I go to get ready for whatever, till...later. Or something. :P

tl;dr: I do have a life, lately it's just not been filled with much else besides gaming and sleeping. My sister owns The Witcher, which isn't quite my thing, and Portal is probably an FPS or something which I hate, but I will look into it anyway, maybe. Later. And I use guides so I don't need to mindlessly replay things, since I put too much time into them anyway. If you/others don't like using them, that's totally cool by me---to each their own, embrace your inner individual or something. Now I need to go find a job, so kthxbye!

Do people in Slovakia buy games all the time?
The economy in my country is very bad a game costs 1/3 of a part time job salary

frost, portal is not a shooter, it's a puzzle game with an awesome plot! and well I hope your job hunt goes well! If I left my parents I would even keep working at a job I hate, just not to get back to them, it's hell for the both sides! ;D

Hmm, in that case, I might look into it vaguely more closely. ...that sentence is totally not grammatically correct. ...I only vaguely care about that. May the English gods punish me for my transgressions. o__O

And as for jobs, considering I think the closest I'd get anymore to a "dream job" is like, working at a bookstore or video game store, at this point, I figure I'll probably, at least for now, end up with something I'm not happy with. As long as I can physically DO IT, though, I'll suffer through.

I could not physically do the job I had. I was sick and sore all the time, and even if it would've eventually gone away, I felt miserable, I wasn't sleeping, eating, plus every body part I was aware of having hurt. All-in-all, not worth minimum wage, and not worth paying 5 bucks of bus fare to get there and back for a four-point-five hour shift with no breaks. I think I deserve something a little better than that. Even if it isn't something I love, exactly.

But yes, at this point, I'll willing to do pretty much anything as long as it isn't retardedly physically strenuous. At this point, I might be lucky to find a job at all---the university students are out of school already, and odds are any intelligent high schoolers in search of a job for the summer are already throwing around resumes too, so if I don't find something soon, I might have to suck it up and reapply at the coffee shop I was really hoping I had escaped, after five and a half years of torture. At least I think I can physically do that, even if psychologically, emotionally and mentally every fibre of my being is screaming not to. x___X

Anyway, I am tired, I've been up long enough today, so this is Frosty sayin' night. Have wonderful remainders of the day, and I suppose happy Friday the 13th, all, since by the time anyone reads this it probably will be. :P

of course we do not buy games, they are too expensive, the only affordable games are 6+ years old ... like NHL 2004 (who would play 2004 ? )

so do you use torrents or sites like Rapidshare ?

So, I started playing Duodecim again a few days ago. Official strategy guide is lame and half-assed, but at least there's maps, even if they aren't as well-put-together as Dissidia's guide's were.

So, I got the materials for the Iai Strike build, where, if you're facing a level 91+ enemy, it gives a 99.9 multipler, so with Smiting Soul and Safety Bit, you almost always break your foe if they aren't broken, steal all their current Brave, and as long as you have more than 1 HP, you survive attacks, and as long as you have EXP->HP equipped as an ability, you don't have to worry about dying much either.

The downside is you have to set your level to 1, can't equip any armor/helms/gloves/weapons, and all your accessory slots are pretty much wasted giving you the Iai Strike build (you could probably replace one or two of em, but might risk lowering the multipler). Plus the lower the level of the enemy, the less the build works (you have to keep swapping Level Gap multiplier accessories, and the smaller the gap, the less it boosts). Nothing is dropping, item-wise, and all-in-all it seems kinda cheap.

On the flip side, I'm doing the second half of Scenario 000, where the enemies are pretty much level 120+ and conveniently tend to be the most a-hole-y of the enemies, like Sephiroth. -_- So odds are if you aren't making use of the Iai Strike build, you're getting your arse handed to you in every battle and otherwise suffering through a lot of unnecessary cr@p.

I also hate that I have to be level 1 and naked for the Iai thing to work. I wasted like, 200 hrs so far mindlessly farming cr@p, and now, in order to survive, my best bet is to NOT wear it. ...why, Squeenix, WHY?!

Anyway, have 10 more dungeons in Scenario 000 to hit, although a few of them I'd rather avoid since they have retarded gimmicks, like "mirror" enemies. They seem to be full-party copies of your characters with identical levels, equipment, and abilities, and the one set I fought made it next to impossible to defeat. Terra died cuz my clone spammed Holy->Flare->Ultima, and Golbez, Firion and Yuna just scrapped by, with me having to retry a few times to manage it. ANNOYING.

...and the later dungeons are full of these mirror pieces. Eff you, Squeenix. If I wanted to fight my clone, I'd give a sword to Damien and see how long the rest of the world lasts. Bleh.

So yes. All-in-all, I'm at least making progress in the game again, but the ridiculous difficulty level and built-in penalties for outlevelling your foes, where possible, makes the game not-as-nice as it could be. Still awesome, but I don't see why they've made things so difficult. And needlessly extend the plot by putting only one or two of a certain type of treasure in each dungeon, so you have to replay that dungeon 4+ times to collect one of each set, if you're lucky to have the right one drop at all. -__-

...this is long, and should probably be in, like, the Duodecim thread. Do I care? Not so much, since nobody visits the site anyway, so mleh. :P

tl;dr: Started playing Duodecim again now that I have a (half-assed) strat guide. Mid-way through Scenario 000, still have two-thirds of Scenario 013 and pretty much all of the Labyrinth to go. Iai strike build makes for easier battles vs high level enemies, but sh!tty rewards. Hopefully will more-or-less finish 000 in the next day or two, and then will probably tackle the rest of 013 and Labyrinth later.

...also, site, why're you so dead? I Phoenix'd the sh!t out of you, COME BACK TO LIFE D@MMIT!!!!!
