| Welcome to the Founderless Regions Alliance. We hope you enjoy your visit. So, what is the FRA? FRA stands for "Founderless Regions Alliance". We are an alliance of regions founded in 2006 and dedicated to the protection and stabilization of founderless regions across the NationStates world. We are the most important and longest running defender alliance at the current time. Sounds pretty interesting. So, who are the current members of the FRA? For a list of regions who are currently members of the FRA, please consult this forum: Member region outposts. Inside you will see the offices of our current member regions. There seems to be a problem. I can’t see that part of the forum! Don’t worry! The FRA operates a strict masking system with a number of different access levels. Once you have registered you will start off in the Visitor group. From there you can only see the non-secure sections of the forums. To gain more access you will either have to apply in the Regional members thread for your mask to be updated (if you are a citizen of a member region), or in the Diplomatic request thread (if you are from a friendly region, or wish to get more involved with us). Oh, that makes sense, really. So, if I wanted to open an embassy with the FRA, how would I go about it? The FRA policy on opening embassies can be found here . Currently we operate a policy where we will only open embassies with regions we wish to work with on some sort of level. We do not give out embassies to all who request them, but we do like to hear news from other places. If you would like to fill us in on what’s happening in your region, you are more than welcome to post in the Foreign Press section. I know you're an interregional alliance, but are you allied with any other region or group? Currently we do not have any alliances with other regions or organizations. However, we do work with other defender-aligned regions/organizations, and we will consider requests for treaties and alliances. If you wish to propose such an alliance or treaty, please contact the current Arch-Chancellor or his deputy. You have got me interested now! How is the alliance run? Power within the FRA lies with the Regional Assembly, composed by Official Representatives from each member region. While all regional members can take part in discussions in the Regional Assembly, only Official Representatives are able to votes on laws and treaties, or in elections. However, day-to-day running of the FRA is dealt with by the Cabinet. A full list of Cabinet members, and their deputies can be found A list of current officials can be found here. For more information on how the FRA is run, please read our Charter. So how does someone get into a position of power in this place? It depends on what kind of power you want! Generally, it is best to work up from the bottom before attempting to run for Arch-Chancellor, as its very unlikely you will get elected if you're very new. Here are some things to look at to give you some ideas; -Ranger Applications forum (if you wish to become involved as a field defender). -Intel Department application forum (if you wish to work in the intelligence field - PM to the Intel Minister only) Of course, these things are just the tip of the iceberg! If there is something you are really interested in, try contacting the respective cabinet member for advice on how to advance down that path. A thought has just occurred to me. The FRA lives and dies on its member regions, how do they exactly benefit from being members of this organisation? The FRA can benefit a member region in a number of ways. Not only are they able to take an active role in a successful and established organisation, but it also boosts their reputation on the main political stage of the NS world. It also helps to bring activity to the region's armed forces as well as the social aspect. Other benefits include access to our extensive military and intelligence services, which will watch your back and keep your region safe from any threats. Of course, it’s not only the selfish needs which are to be considered here. You will gain the satisfaction knowing that you have helped to protect the innocent regions from the empire builders and other tyrants in NS. So does membership of the FRA mean a region giving up its sovereignty? The first part of our Charter says, "The Founderless Regions Alliance is an organisation founded on the principles of sovereignty and freedom of all regions in Nationstates", so it would be a little silly if we interfered with the sovereignty of our member regions! We have a policy of not getting involved with the internal affairs of member regions unless invited to. All aspects of a region's day-to-day administration is fully independent from that of the FRA. Woo! So does that mean I can do what I want here and you can't do a thing about it? Oh no, not at all. We do have a number of protocols here on the forum, and if you do break any of them (most of which are found in the charter or in pinned threads in the welcome forum) you and your region could end up being kicked out of the alliance altogether. The most important of which would be the Restricted Areas Law. Please, also note that we do not tolerate multiple accounts on this forum unless you have express permission from the current Arch-Chancellor. Failure to gain this permission will result in your account(s) being suspended or deleted. Oh right, I better not then. What if I gave you cookies? Well, we would take the cookies, but still kick you out. Sorry. I think that’s everything I need to know then! But what if I think of a question later, and it's not addressed above? Either post a question in a new thread in the Arch Chancellor's Office, or send a Personal Message to one of the Cabinet members. Join our community!
