A few months ago Jason took charge of the Phoenix wolf pack. He defeated the Ulfric and took his place. Instead of disposing of all the wolves that opposed him, he kept them. The only consequence they received was being lowered in rank. Then, a couple weeks later, a new vampire took charge of the city. She made a trip to the pack on a night of the full moon. While there she made it clear that she could call wolves if she wished. Instead of turning her away, Jason allied with her. On top of that, he agreed to hand over his own people for her to feed from and command as she pleased. Admittedly, it was the wolves who opposed him. Even though he disagreed severely, Strum could live with these decisions. He had to. They were his Ulfric's final say, and Jason's word was law. The final straw was very recent. Jason had chosen a Lupa. That was not the problem, though. This Lupa was not lukoi, she was human. She was not supposed to know of the wolf pack, but now she was involved. As the pack's Geri he felt it his duty to air these issues amongst the pack. For that very reason he would be confronting his Ulfric tonight.
Strum felt it was best to address these matters privately. He had phoned Jason earlier asking him to meet at Strum's house. Jason's roommate and Lupa were probably at home with Jason. The roommate had no business with pack issues, and the girl had not earned Strum's respect. He decided it was best to talk these issues over in a safe, quiet, and most importantly, private environment. His home was his own, with no one to intrude. The only people allowed inside his home were those he invited, and, unfortunately, Daren when he managed to sneak his way inside. There were no signs of the pup tonight, though. This did not ease Strum's nerves. He was not sure how the Ulfric was going to take his advice, or if he would at all. In fact, Strum was more than likely going to be punished for questioning Jason's authority. It was worth it, though, if only the Ulfric understood the concerns.
The office was strangely quiet, even for one that usually only held one man. Strum rested his right arm above the fireplace with his forehead leaning against it. He closed his eyes and just felt the warmth of the flames. The air he breathed was warm, almost soothing. He could not be comforted, though. Strum was far too worried about the direction of the pack because of the Ulfric's decisions. It was not a matter of trust, because Strum trusted Jason with his life. It was a matter of whether Jason was looking at the big picture. An alliance with a powerful vampire was essentially a good idea, but communism started with a few good ideas. The world was filled with people who did the wrong thing with good intentions. He wanted to know that Jason understood what harm may befall the clan if the vampire were to ever feel the need to enforce her power over them.
A truck pulled up outside, Strum could hear the tires on the gravel. It had to be Jason. He knew it was his Ulfric even before the scent wafted to him. No one else he knew would come so far out of the way to see Strum so late at night. On top of that Strum had called Jason, so he was expecting him. His eyes stayed closed as he shouted toward the door, It's open. Even though he had been planning on confronting Jason for some time now, he was not sure he was ready. He spent a few more moments in silence, just breathing in the warm air. I'm in the office! he yelled with his eyes stilled closed. Jason probably all ready knew there was something wrong, so there was no use pretending everything was all right. Now, how to start what would surely become an argument? Strum sighed causing the flames to flicker slightly. Only twenty-four and he all ready felt old, having to address business like this.

Jason scratched his head as he drove to strums house across town from his own. He wondered what it was exactly the wolf wanted to talk about that couldn't happen over the phone. That usually meant pack business which was fine by Jason, Even though the entire community knew he was a lycanthrope now they didn't need to know he was also the leader of a pack of werewolves. That would not add to his already damaged rep.
Damaged reputation or not Jason was still Ulfric and was obligated to take care of his pack. He didn't mind it at all, In fact there were a few things he needed to talk to his Geri about as well. He knew the man had his doubts and his feelings toward a great many things Jason had done since becoming Ulfric. But Jason needed that critique. To be honest he counted on it. He didn't come into the position knowing everything. So he needed all the help he could get.
Pulling into the driveway of the house Jason felt vary nervous about all of this. Strum hadn't sounded happy on the phone that was for sure so whatever it was that was wrong he must have felt strongly about it. That meant that Jason was going to have to hear about it and get scolded for it. Jason could think of a number of reasons Strum would scold him. All of them were legitimate he was sure but being scolded was never fun.
As he approached the door on foot he heard Strum yell from within his house. That made Jason wonder just how bad this was going to get. Strum was waiting more attuned for him then anything else. Taking the response though he opened the door and made his way into the home. Somehow the place fit Strum greatly. A multitude of books everywhere as he walked through the house. Hearing the man call out to him again from his office it took Jason only moments to figure out were it came from and followed the voice.
Entering the office Jason found his friend standing near his fireplace. He looked stressed but then that was to be expected given the nature of the call he had been given. Jason looked to him for a moment before looking away. " What can i do for you this late at night my friend. I figure the matter must be urgent if you called me here so late." He said to the man as he moved toward a chair in the room. " May i have a seat?" He asked politely. It didn't matter to Jason either way but it would give him some insight unto what his friend was thinking. Simple questions could always bring out a persons true feelings before drilling would.

Almost too warm for comfort, Strum stepped away from the fireplace just as Jason entered the room. The Ulfric asked to be seated. "Sure," he said, pointing to the chair in front of his desk. It was true the call was a bit later than usual. Strum had been doing his best to pass off his Ulfric's judgments as something he had to live with, but when he sat down tonight to work on his next novel, he just could not get these issues out of his head. Jason was probably borderline sick of Strum's constant complaining, but it really was not his fault. If Jason would make better decisions then Strum wouldn't feel the need to correct his Ulfric. Pack business was so much more conflicting now that he actually held a rank.
Strum turned to face his Ulfric, frowning slightly. Making his way to sit at his desk, across from Jason, he spoke, "I'm sure you know how displeased I am with you lately. I understand you are Ulfric, but at the moment I question your incentive." The words were probably not chosen as carefully as they should have, but at least they did not mask what he was trying to say with kindness. "I hear you are considering make your girl Lupa," he said, getting straight to business, "She's human, Jason. Do you really believe that is in the pack's best interest? Do you really think we need a human Lupa when we don't even have a Freki?" The lack of ranking pack members was something else that Strum had spoken to Jason on many occasions, but there was virtually nothing he could do about it.
Laying one hand in his lap and the other on the desk, Strum lowered his gaze away from his Ulfric. He knew he had to say what he was saying, but he felt slightly ashamed for it. "I have made as much peace as I possibly can with your decision to ally with the vampires, even going so far as giving some of our people to them. Those I can live with," he shook his head is disapproval before continuing, "but a human Lupa? That is one decision I cannot stand behind. Msny of us are angered that you would even consider something so extreme. Have you not heard of what it did to that pack in St. Louis?" Slowly his tone grew angry. The more he spoke the freer he felt, and the angrier he got. "I'm asking you to reconsider this. She is trouble enough without bringing the clan into this mess."

Jason could sense Strums unease at the matter he was about to discuss. He seemed uncomfortable, just generally uncomfortable which was never a good sign. Jason knew he wasn't going to like this the moment he got the call but he was here now so it was time to get down to business. Strum probably picked the most bland response to his question possible. " Sure "didn't tell him anything and it was why he asked in the first place that however didn't work but he could tell enough just from everything else that Strum wasn't in a good mood. Taking his seat he did his best to stay relaxed. He would hear his friend out at the least.
Jason was very aware of Strums distaste for his recent decisions. Jason knew that his dislike for the vampires was stemmed from his fear of Isobel's power. That and he hated vampire, But that wasn't what this was about, Strum made that apparent when he started talking about Trinity right off the bat. His opening statement about his intentions made him frown but the mention of Trinity made things worse. Jason held his own though and let him continue.d. As the man continued though Jason felt himself become angry in response to how angry Strum was getting. Even comparing there clan to the St Luis clan made it worse. Finally as he finished Jason really wanted to yell at Strum but held it in. Getting to his feet he looked down to the man sitting across from him.
" First off I am the Ulfric and the choice of who i wish to be my lupa is mine alone. It is not for you or the clan to decide it is for me. " He said just shy of a yell to the wolf across from him " And the clan in St Luis is has been made stronger than it has been in years because of there lupa. Who is to say we wont do the same. " He continued but he was far from finished. " Secondly Strum I made that decision to ally with the vampires because i didn't want to have a war with them. That's the reason i fought for ulfric in the first place. To stop the fighting. That's what we strove for. Just because your afraid of them doesn't mean it wasn't the right decision to make I did it to protect everyone, We don't have to fight them anymore we can coexist in our own city now. You know that its better this way. And i was going to fix our Freki situation too" Jason said to him . The anger from before dying down into exasperation. He had made himself as clear as he could about his choice of Lupa. But he was just tired of Strum complaining about the vampires. Jason sat back down and took a deep breath. He had stated his peace, but that wasn't going to solve it.
" Look Strum I know she isn't one of us. She can not be a true lupa to the clan. I know that much. But the title of lupa is more for the Me then for her. I could chose from 20 other girls in the clan all of whom would love to be lupa. But none of them would be a real relationship with me. They would be in it for the power. I found a real relationship outside of the pack. Can you really blame me for wanting her to be a part of every aspect of my life." He said to Strum calmly. He knew in the end strum was right. Even if she were a werewolf Trinity wasn't a leader. She couldn't make the decisions Jason or Strum could make. He had to consider now what his options were. " Does everyone think that me taking her as lupa is a bad idea Strum?" He asked him hoping that he could get a calm answer back from him. He didn't want this disagreement to get out of hand. The last thing he wanted was to yell so much it turned into a fight .
