It had only been a few weeks since Jessica had learned that moving here hadn’t been the only change in her life, being a werewolf was…interesting. She’d spent the last few weeks exploring her new senses, smell, touch, taste, hell something as simple as a shower made her feel wonderful. Though she hadn’t met any other pack members yet, she did well to answer her phone anytime Jason called to check on her, and had of course kept her promise and returned Strums clothes and left him a large check for a new couch, and another for repairs to the front door.
Today had been like any other this week, she’d worked on her photos in the morning, done her work out in the living room, and was now washing up. The most she’d done was purchase a town house between Strum and Jason’s homes, but she had been too terrified to venture out much. Tonight she wanted to go out again, go enjoy herself at a bar, have a drink or two, maybe dance a little, enjoy herself without fearing what her wolf might do.
The idea had been innocent enough, but it hadn’t ended as peacefully as she had hoped. In an old pair of jeans, a tank top and flip flops, too worried about ruining her clothes, she hadn’t thought she was inviting anyone to flirt. Maybe it was just the wolf pulling others to her to instigate trouble because she wanted back out, maybe the man really had no one else left to hit on at the bar. Jessica had barely had a drink before he’d sat next to her, flirting, despite her subtle hints that she was not interested. Then he’d touched her, and she’d grabbed his hand and bent his fingers back, anger flaring through her and she just barely kept herself from breaking his fingers, just holding them there to warn him to back off.
He should’ve apologized and left it at that, instead he’d called her a bitch, she she’d snapped three of his fingers and slammed her palm into his nose. The act alone pushed her over the edge, and leaving the bar was a blur Her body began aching, and as she stumbled into an alley she kicked off her flip flops as she struggled to pull her phone out of her pocket. Her hand never made it there before a whine ripple through her and she collapsed as her body shifted, ruining another outfit.
Thankfully this time, she remembered being in the alley, being in her new form, testing out each leg, her nose, twitching her ears, and wagging her tail. Jessica wasn’t overly upset about being able to run around like this, however she knew Jason and Strum would be angry about her running around unattended. Searching through her shredded jeans, she managed to find the pocket with her phone in it, and snatching the piece of fabric with the plastic device up in her teeth, she took off towards the one place her wolf could still feel the best.
Strums took her almost no time, and she was too busy focusing on carrying her phone to get distracted by any of the small critters running around. They could teach her how to hunt later, but if she didn’t report to one of them now, she’d be in a lot of trouble later. Thankfully, despite the late hours, Jessica saw Strum had left a window cracked on the first floor. Nudging it open wider with her nose, she slipped into the first floor, ears perking up as she looked around, her nose twitching as she tried to figure out if he was even home. The vehicle in the driveway suggested as much, but she had no idea if any of the pack shifted before the moon just for fun. The initial shift hurt like hell, but being in this form was worth it. Her ears caught the sound of faint breathing upstairs, which meant he was probably asleep.
Quietly padding up the stairs, she slipped into the bedroom, her eyes working nicely in the dark. At first she thought she should bark, or whine from the doorway to wake him up. However her wolf decided it was still too wound up from her fight to be calm. It wanted to play, so instead of being polite, she jumped up on the bed, dropping her phone before she laid down and began chewing on his forearm, hoping the abrupt awake would convince him to play with her.

Finally taking the advice that practically everyone had been screaming at him for a while, Strum had taken the day off from the pack. Instead, he elected to stay inside. He had a novel to finish, anyway. The deadline wasn't close or anything, but it would be nice to sit down and work without any stress factors. Even his sponsored girl had agreed not to call him unless it was an absolute emergency and Jason was completely unavailable. That day was to be completely and utterly dedicated to himself and things he wanted to do. He wasn't allowed to do any pack related work at all.
With a fresh pot of coffee brewed and ready to go, Strum sat down to his computer. That was where he stayed the majority of the day. The only times he got up were food related. Just because he was neglecting his pack duties didn't mean he should be neglecting his beast. He catered to that thing, especially after the incident with Harold. There were nights he still dreamed about that. The nightmares were horrible, definitely disturbing, but it had been what he needed. It was his awakening. The realizations he had that day helped keep him from going down the same road. All of his good intentions were going to destroy him if he hadn't been there that day to witness one man's self destruction.
Before he had realized it, the sun had sunk below the horizon. Even so, he kept going. He had been fairly productive. It was great being able to just work. As time passed, though, he started to grow tired. Insanely tired. Eventually the words he wrote stopped making sense, and at least once he was sure he wrote the same sentence twice. That was enough of a signal to him for him to get his butt up and head to bed. Pushing against the desk, he rolled backward and stood from the chair. He stretched until his back popped. Then grabbing his coffee cup, he took it into the kitchen and dropped it into the sink. Yawning, he headed up the stairs and stripped to his underwear for bed. Tucking himself under the covers, he was asleep in seconds.
He was so out that he didn't notice the presence in his home. The dreams kept coming even when she stood in the doorway of his bedroom. Feeling something hop into the bed Strum kicked at the blankets. Groaning, he turned over onto his stomach and tucked an arm under his pillow. For a brief moment he thought he smelled wolf, felt their presence. That couldn't have been true, though. Everyone had received orders not to bother him. Anyone who showed up at his home while he was sleeping would have been insane. He had definitely had enough of being kept away by another wolf for a while. Jessica had been too much.
Jessica, that woke him a little. It was the teeth in his arm that finally got his attention. Opening his eyes his saw what he hoped was only a dream. He tried to form words, but they just came out in a grumble. Yawning and stretching he pushed himself over and rolled into his back, keeping his eyes on Jessica the entire time. Reaching out his arm, he ruffled the fur on her head. Letting his arm flop on the bed, he finally found his voice. "What are you doing here?" he asked, knowing he wasn't going to get an answer, he groaned and sat up. "You know," he said groggily, "I should eat you." He tried to laugh, but he didn't feel like it. The little sleep he had gotten was enough to keep him from being too grumpy. "What is it with you and keeping me from sleeping?" he asked, that time managing a laugh masked heavily by a yawn.

For a moment Jessica thought he was actually going to sleep through her chewing on his arm. Or wake up and kill her, she hadn’t really thought this through, she was just going with whatever her wolf wanted to do. When he finally yawned and stretched, she released his arm and stood up, tail wagging happily as his hand met the fur on her head. Another thing she’d noticed, her sense of touch was greater, but nothing felt better than being around or being touched by her own kind. Happy that he was awake, she couldn’t help but lick at his face a few times to help him wake up. Then he said he should eat her and she pulled back, ears falling as she thought he really was angry with her that she had woken him up. Had he not been sleeping much since the last time she was here? Maybe the pack kept him busier than she thought, he had his own wolf to deal with and she probably kept him busy.
Then, he laughed, and any guilt she had about showing up vanished, he wanted to be mad at her, but apparently it wasn’t as easy as he had hoped it would be. Even if she wanted to answer him, she wasn’t sure she needed to. Jessica was here because Jason was busy with relationship things, and she hadn’t met the girlfriend yet, wasn’t even sure if she wanted to. The women didn’t seem all that thrilled about Jason needing to take care of the pack and now his own sponsor all the time, she didn’t want to barge in during whatever problems they were having, fearing her showing up would only make whatever was going on worse. Strum was close, and he’d been the first one she’d been pulled to as a wolf, so this felt like her safest bet. Others more than likely would think she was crazy, but her wolf didn’t seem to think so at all.
Despite him making it clear he was tired, she couldn’t tone down how much energy she currently had pent up. She needed to play, run around, chew on something, anything to get her energy out, even if it meant spending that energy trying to get him out of bed and avoiding any wrath he might bring upon her by doing so. Her jaw closed around his hand on the bed, lightly tugging on it, her head dropping close to the bed, back end still in the air as she shook her head lightly and whining a bit to show she wanted him to wake up. Or maybe it looked like she was trying to pick a fight, either way she knew she’d get her energy out and be able to shift back into her human form and he’d eventually be allowed to go back to sleep.
For the time being though, he wouldn’t be allowed, even if he tied her up he’d need to put a muzzle on her to keep her quiet. While it probably wasn’t the best third visit to his home, at least it wasn’t like the first one, she hadn’t damaged any of his belongings yet. Growing impatient with how little the tugging was working, she eventually let go and stood up to go back to licking his face. Once upon a time she’d had a dog, and when it wanted her to wake up and chewing on her hadn’t worked, smothering her face with licks had certainly helped wake her up, at least enough to shove the dog off her and go wipe her face off, but by then she was awake and the dog wouldn’t let up. Now, that’s exactly what she was doing to Strum, refusing to behave herself until he caved in and found some way to deal with her.

The tongue to the face was not a pleasant way to be woken up. He shoved her away, but that did little to deter her from whatever it was she wanted. Strum wanted nothing more than to go back to sleep. It seemed Jessica would be having none of that nonsense. What crazy guy wanted to sleep in the middle of the night when he had a rambunctious werewolf hopping around his bed? Yeah, right. This was the second time she had interrupted his sleep pattern, and she was going to be in trouble if she didn't let him get some form of sleep. Admittedly, he was nowhere near as tired as he had been the first time he met her, but he was still going to be unbelievably cranky if she didn't leave him alone.
Strum laughed when he saw her ears go back. His words had gotten her off him for the moment, that was definitely an improvement. "Don't worry," he said with a yawn, "I don't think you would taste too good." He was doing one hell of a job as an alpha if he couldn't even chase her off. Well, he could have, but he didn't feel like having to listen to whatever Jason would have to say about it later. It wasn't that he couldn't deal with Jason, but he didn't want to. They were finally back on good terms and it would have been a shame to let the new girl sour that for them. She was Jason's responsibility anyway, so he was going to let the other man take care of her.
Laying back down, ignoring the girl and hoping she would get the hint and go away. No luck there. More teeth to skin. Yanking his hand from the wolf, he groaned again. "Subtly isn't something you understand, is it?" he asked rhetorically. Trying his best to ignore her further, he turned on his side, facing away from her. "Get out of here, would you? Come back in the morning when I'm not trying to sleep." Of course, he should have known by then that she wasn't going anywhere. What in the world did she want? Crazy girl.
He grumbled when she went back to licking his face. Shoving her off, he rubbed his eyes. "All right, all right," he said as he sat back up, "I'm up. Happy?" Strum certainly wasn't. It was obvious she wasn't going to leave him alone, though, so he had little choice. He pulled one knee up and scooted back against the headboard to get more comfortable. In doing so he noticed a tiny weight bounce around the bed. Reaching out he grabbed it, he found a cell phone. Looking up at Jessica he asked, "Is this yours?" Of course it was. Who else could it have belonged to? It certainly wasn't his. Shrugging, he leaned over and placed it on the bedside table, getting it out of the way.
"What am I going to do with you?" he asked, reaching out and petting her again. All her energy was too much for him considering he had been sleeping just a moment before. Throwing the blanket off, he stood and stretched. The pants he had discarded earlier that night laid on the floor beside the bed. He put those on and looked back at the mass of fur laying in his bed. "First things' first, I need to call Jason on you," he said, reaching for the cordless phone he kept beside his bed.

Even though his comment was meant to be reassuring, she gave a small playful growl at him, Jessica didn’t think she would taste bad, she would probably taste great! Wait…no she really shouldn’t be trying to prove him wrong, then it’d seem like she had some sort of death wish. As he questioned her subtly she shook her head with a small bark as she wagged her tail at him. Jessica wasn’t about to leave, she wanted to play, run around, be around another wolf, and Jason was busy with relationship things at the moment. Finally, he caved in and sat up, and she sat there and wagged her tail, tilting her head slightly as she waited for him to wake up fully.
When he took her cell phone, her response was a happy bark, her new way of telling him yes. Though part of her was tempted to shake her head, make him think she stole it from someone. Then again she didn’t want to be in trouble right now, she was already in enough. Part of her wished she could answer him, there were plenty of things he could do with her, and petting was a good first step. Her eyes shut for a moment as her head leaned into his hand, but then he stopped and got out of bed.
Waiting for him to put pants on, she wondered what he was planning to do. Then he mentioned calling Jason, and without realizing how quickly she could move like this, the wolf threw herself across the bed, snatching the phone off the receiver before his hand could reach it. Thankfully not knocking anything over, knowing she was now landing herself in more trouble, but if he wanted to call Jason on her, he was going to have to catch her first. Turning, phone held between her teeth, tail still wagging, another small growl escaping her. It was clear she didn’t want him to call Jason right now, he was probably going to yell at her, not only for the fight at the bar they’d eventually find out about, but for bothering Strum and making him drive out here to deal with her.
If Strum couldn’t get a hold of him though, Jessica would have some time to play before she had to deal with being yelled at for her actions tonight. So she stood there, waiting for a moment, and the moment he made a move to try and take the phone from her she turned and bolted out the door and to the living room, looking around for a place to hide the phone. Her ears would perk up when she heard him behind her, even if he thought to use to her cell phone, the smart device was password protected, and he wouldn’t be able to call anyone other than 911 without punching in a password first.
Looking at the window she’d come in, she jumped back through it and sat on the back lawn. Dropping the phone at her feet, she gave a few more barks and whines to get his attention. She wanted to run around, get out her pent up energy, but she wanted someone to play with. It was like a game of tag he’d unwillingly been dragged into. He was it, and she wasn’t going to return his phone until he took it from her.

"Dammit, Jessica," he grumbled as he watched her snatch the phone. Strum was certainly not in the mood to be playing around. He was tired. His day had been long and productive, but that only equaled sleep in the life of a man who did not have a Jessica to watch over. Had he been a little less sleepy he probably would have stopped her, but he was too tired to even see her coming for the object until it was too late. Seriously, she had to stop coming around when he was not one hundred percent himself. One day he was going to catch her completely off guard and then there was going to be hell to pay. Of course, Jason would have to be absent for that particular event.
Strum stepped toward her, hand outstretched, but she darted out the door the moment he moved at her. "This is my house," he grumbled as he moved his gaze to the phone he had set beside the bed. It was of no use to him, though, and he found that out quickly. The thing was locked, and he needed a password to get it open. Well, it looked like he was going to have to get that phone back. Sure, there were other landline phones in the home: one in the office, one in the kitchen, but this was personal. So he followed her down the stairs and into the living room. The canine took off before he could stop here there, electing to hop right out the back window.
The moment she leaped out the window he stopped being concerned with the phone and started to worry about his neighbors. She was making enough noise that if one of them saw her, she would be in trouble. It was perfectly legal for one of them to walk outside and shoot her if they thought for even a moment she was a threat to anyone. Sure, the majority of them knew he was a werewolf, it was good publicity for his books, but that didn't meant they all liked it. Right then his focus was on keeping her safe. If she got hurt under his watch he would never forgive himself. On top of that, he would probably get a scolding from Jason for not keeping a better eye on her.
"Jessica," he said sternly, "Get back in here." It was odd how quickly his attitude toward throwing her out had changed. Just a few moments ago he wanted her out of his house, and now he wanted her back inside. It was for her own good, though, and his own. It probably wouldn't look too good on him if one of the wolves in his charge got shot and wounded or killed simply because she was too rambunctious for him to handle. "You can't be outside like that," he said, trying his best to sound authoritative while keeping his voice down. Of course, he had been referring to her being in full wolf form out in the open. Did she have a death wish?
Casting a firm glower at her, Strum stormed away from the window and toward the back door. Wrenching the door open, he stormed to where she stood and sprung at her. Settling on his knees at her side, he wrapped his arms around her neck and nuzzled his face into her fur. "You can't go prancing off outside," he told her. "I'll do whatever you want, but I want you inside, okay?" The contact should have been sufficient enough persuasion, but he wasn't entirely sure enough to bet on it. He let his wolf peek out, warm his all ready hot aura. The wolf stayed docile, but with a threat of dominance should she give him a reason to enforce it. His eyes moved to the phone in her maw. "Could you put that back?" he asked, not at all feeling up to wrestling it from her. Fine, she could stay without Jason being called. For the moment. "I won't call the Ulfric yet," he promised.

It was cute when he tried to order her around, part of her knew sometimes she had to listen to his orders, but this one wasn’t completely demanding. So she sat their, wagging her tail, tilting her head, waiting for him to come outside. Once he did though, she went to run, but now that he was expecting it he barely had to try in order to grab her. Squirming a bit, but she didn’t fight very hard, her wolf instantly calming in his grasp. All Jessica had wanted was to be in another wolfs company, and that was exactly what she’d gotten.
Once he not only promised to do whatever she wanted, but that he would also wait on call their Ulfric, she opened her mouth to let the phone drop on the ground. Then she completely relaxed in his hold, moving her head only to lick his face so he knew he could let go. Once he released her ,she obediently follow him inside, playfully nipping at his heels with every step he took. Stopping just before he became too angry with her about it and simply began running circles around his feet, head nudging into his hand to have him pet her several times.
Now that he was awake though, and had promised not to call Jason yet, she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do. At some point she’d have to change back and tell him why she’d shifted in the first place. Right now though she was content with simply demanding attention, part of her even figured he’d earned the right to at least go back to bed until he really needed to call Jason on her. So when they were inside, she made her way back upstairs, and hopped back up on the bed.
After a few small circles, she got comfortable on the side of the bed he hadn’t been sleeping on and waited for him to come back. At the moment, there wasn’t much she could do other than physical signs, he was the only one able to talk at the moment. When she was in this form she just wasn’t always sure what to do with herself, but when she was around another, around an alpha, her wolf calmed down and she found herself able to lay down and relax for a moment.

Strum felt her relax in his arms. It wasn't surprising how receptive she was to him since he was the superior. He wasn't shocked, but he was relieved. Honestly, he half expected her to resist him, to fight back and wriggle free. Of course, she tried, but she didn't succeed and gave up pretty quick. He suspected she hadn't even fought too hard. Not too long after he agreed not to call Jason, she opened her mouth and let go of the object she was holding. The phone plopped on the grass in the backyard. More face licking was not appreciated, though, and he gave her a quick glare to tell her this. Releasing her, he made his way back toward the house with the phone in his hand.
If it wasn't for his good balance, he probably would have been tripped up trying to avoid the teeth at his feet. He had to stop a few times as she weaved around his feet. She was more like a dog than a wolf. The thought made him chuckle a little as he gave her the light petting she was obviously begging for. Then he followed her inside, walking a little behind her as she led him back up the stairs. What was she up to? Whatever it was, he wasn't sure he was up for punishing her for it. Lucky break for her. In the morning, though, that would be a different story.
Fortunately, she didn't do anything she would regret. Instead sh hopped up on the bed. He watched as she got comfortable, laughing again at her dog-like qualities. She was definitely more of a house pet. Good thing she found the pack when she did, because he was sure someone so silly and adorable would never have made it on her on. Thankful for the opportunity to crawl back into bed, Strum followed her, making sure to put the phone up first.. He climbed in under the part of the blankets that Jessica wasn't laying on. "So I'm actually allowed to sleep now?" he asked with a laugh.
He found his hands seeking out the fur and the warm flesh beneath it. Scooting closer to her, he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close. It had been so long since he had a warm body in his bed. Even though it was Jessica, and she annoyed him to no end, he still enjoyed having someone close. She smelled like pack, like home. It was comforting to know he wasn't alone no matter how much he felt like he was sometimes. As much as he disliked how hectic she made things for him, he didn't hate her. He even liked her for the most part, if for nothing other than she was part of the pack, part of the family. Resting his head on her, he closed his eyes. "I guess you aren't all bad," he chuckled into her fur.

If she noticed his angry glares about her actions, she gave no indication of it. Maybe she was more like a dog than a wolf, but that was because she was in a good mood. In a good mood, even her wolf couldn’t help but want to play and be affectionate, it worried her how she might act if she ever shifted and stayed angry. Earlier it was easy to calm down knowing how close Jason and Strum were if she needed them, easier knowing that she’d already injured the man. What would happen if someone really made her angry or tried to hurt her physically? Hopefully she’d never find out and they’d never have to try her teeth out of anyone’s throat.
As he went to get under the covers, she stood, walking up to the head of the bed, pushing her nose under the blankets so she wasn’t sitting on them, but lying beneath them to make it easier on him to get comfortable. Even though she’d been demanding petting, she hadn’t expected him to actually wrap his arms around her and pull her closer. Apparently it wasn’t just her who found it comforting to be as close as possible to her own kind. Something about the way another pack member smelled and felt that just made her wolf reach a calm she wasn’t sure she could ever get it to on her own.
His question about sleep was answered with a small yawn of her own, a whine escaping at the end of it to show he’d done a good job of getting her wolf to stop wanting to run around, and after being up since early this morning, her mind was tired and she was more than ready to get some sleep. The thought of leaving to get some sleep didn’t even cross her mind at this point, she was far too comfortable curled up against him to move.
So Jessica stayed still, only moving when he did to make sure that by the time he finally was laying down and sound asleep they were still comfortable. Once her ears and the feel of his chest rising and falling against her told her he’d fallen asleep, she let her eyes slip close and fell asleep. It was by far the best sleep she’d had in years, and even when she shifted back, her sleeping form simply curled itself against him and she was still there when the sun came up and light splashed across the room, causing her to simply bury her face against him to block out the light and sleep more.

Sun slipped through the curtains, chasing away the shadows. Strum groaned and snuggled deeper under the blankets. He wanted to sleep in. Sure, he probably should have gotten out of bed. Hell, he was almost positive he had slept in later than usual. There was something he was sure he should have been doing. For the life of him, though, he couldn't quite remember what that was. Shrugging, he figured whatever it was, it couldn't have been too entirely important, otherwise he would have remembered what it was. Tucking an arm under his pillow, he pulled the blanket tighter. He had less blanket than usual. Had he moved around a lot the night before?
Deciding he was awake for the day, he figured it was time to get out of bed. Something obstructed his movement when he tried to stretch. Looking over he saw what it was. Nuzzled against him was the last person he expected to see in his bed. Then he remembered what had happened. Jessica had shown up in the middle of the night wanting to play. He wanted to be angry, but looking back at her he found it hard to be. It had been so long since he slept so close to someone else, too long. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. Even if it was Jessica, the most annoying person he could think of, it was pleasant. Not even she could manage to look menacing while she slept.
Then he remembered what that important thing had been. He needed to call Jason, tell him that Jessica had shown up in the middle of the night in wolf form. Whatever had made her shift, he wasn't sure on yet since she had probably just barely shifted back. Rolling over, Strum sat up and reached for the phone. He sighed hard when he saw what time it was. It was almost noon. He had slept in past the entire morning. There was no way he had been that tired. Maybe Jessica was just that comfortable. Either way, she was probably more than rested. That meant if he didn't get on calling Jason then, there was a fair chance he wasn't going to get the opportunity.
Dialing the Ulfric' phone number, Strum listened for the other man to pick up. "Jason," he said, "Jessica showed up at my place last night shifted. She's here right now. I don't know what happened last night, and I figured you would like to be here for the first telling of it." He listened to the what the other man had to say, laying back against the pillow. "Before you head over, though, could you stop by her place? I would really rather not loan her clothes again." Thinking for a moment, he added, "Maybe an extra change, or two? Just in case this happens again?" It was a fairly sound idea considering this wasn't the first time she had shown up at his home shifted and without clothing.
"All right, see you in a bit," he concluded, hanging up. Strum set the phone where it belonged and rolled back over on his side. Nudging her gently he said, "The Ulfric is on his way. You should probably get up." Taking his own advice, he tossed off the blankets and stepped off the bed. He made his way over to the closet. Throwing the door open, he ruffled through his drawers for a spare t-shirt. It was one of his bigger ones, something he was sure she would appreciate. "Here," he said holding it out to her, "Just until Jason gets here with clothes for you. Put that on and we'll go downstairs." Giving her a thoughtful look, he wondered exactly what had happened the night before. "You didn't eat last night, did you?" he asked, sure the answer was no. "That's not good for your wolf. Come on, let's go get you fed." Standing in the doorway, he waited patiently for her to put on the shirt and follow him out.

Jessica felt like she should be awake, but she was far too comfortable to move. After a while, her brain registered by she was comfortable, and even though this was probably far too close to be, without her clothes, her wolf growled in her head at the thought of moving away before she had to. When he woke up, she waited for him to sit up or pull away, but instead she was rewarded with his arms wrapping around her. Maybe he’d completely forgotten about Jason, and wasn’t going to ask about last night, which meant she wouldn’t be in trouble.
Apparently he was able to read thoughts though because the next moment he was rolling over to pick up the phone, part of her wanted to stop him, terrified about being yelled at. For breaking the guys nose, for not calling Jason the moment the fight had started, or allowing Strum to call him the moment she’d arrive. Though mostly, she was sure he was going to be angry she hadn’t gone to his home, that she had avoided it simply because she didn’t want to interfere with whatever he and his girlfriend were doing. He had his own life to deal with, other people to worry about. Strum had his sponsor, but no one in his home, she felt less invasive here, even though she knew despite how nice he was currently being, she was probably driving him crazy.
She stretched, but didn’t get up until nudged her, to which she gave a small whine, burying her face in the pillow when he got up. “He’s going to be mad isn’t he?” Not that Strum could know for sure, they hadn’t discussed last night yet, and she felt like he was probably going to wait for Jason to show up, no point in telling the story multiple times, she probably wouldn’t have the guts to tell it more than once. Finally looking up when he said ‘here’, she happily snagged the shirt, keeping her back to him as she tugged it over her head.
Thankfully, his shirts were big enough they fell just above he knees, over size t-shirts were the most comfortable things she’d probably ever wear other than her own skin. That and it smelled like him, which always made her feel at home, it made her wonder how it would feel to be around the entire pack all at once. It was probably overwhelming, then again that was probably why pack meetings were held during the full moon, everyone was already on edge, they needed the whole pack to make sure they stayed in line.
As he questioned if she’d eaten, she opened her mouth to answer, but her stomach growled at the thought of food before she could. Blushing, she stared at the ground as she chastised her, today was probably just going to be full of things she was going to be in trouble for doing wrong. Not that she could know yet, it was only the second time she’d done this, the way she saw it her not eating saved his furniture.
Smiling at the offer of food though, she practically skipped along behind him, realizing the last time she’d followed him, she’d been obnoxious in her attempts for attention. Thankfully she was far too tall now to nip at his heels, so to keep her energy busy, she simply hummed the entire way to the kitchen before sitting in a chair, lightly swinging her legs back and forth while she hummed and waited for direction on what to do about food.
"I felt it was safer for your belongings if I didn't eat anything I ran by on the way here. Plus, I was more concerned about keeping my phone with me." That was far too expensive for her to just loose....like everything else that had been in her pockets. Like her ID, credit card and house keys. A frown crossed her face and her legs stilled as she let her forehead fall against the table. "I didn't grab my keys...or my ID...or my card...I'm going to have to go look for them." Her hands tangled in her hair and pulled lightly as her frustration seemed to sweep over her, "Stupidstupidstupidstupid." She mumbled, lightly tapping her head against the table with every 'stupid'. Jessica felt stupid for thinking going out to a public place would be safe for her right now, stupid for not just getting up and walking away the moment the man began pissing her off and calling Jason like she was suppose to. Stupid for letting her pride get in the way, for letting her wolf run her actions to fight back instead of pushing her down and making her behave. Jason was going to be furious with her, she just knew it. Only here a few weeks and she was already doing a horrible job at being a werewolf.

Looking over his paperwork for the day Jason sighed. This was just another boring morning for sure. he was really looking forward to that degree for sure. Fortunately it was noon and he was nearly done. He was about to sign his paper when suddenly he sneezed. Jason rubbed his nose as Jorge looked back at him from the front desk. " You getting sick there son?" He asked him but Jason shook his head. " I don't get sick Jorge." Jason replied to which the older man put his hand on his chin and nodded. Looking to Jason once more he smiled
" That's true, I guess someone is talking about you somewhere then." The older man said before Jason's phone began to ring. Jason took a moment to look at it in disbelief before answering shaking his head to the old man who chuckled as he went back to the front desk. It was Strum, and Strum only called him at work when something was up. And if he had to venture a guess it was Jessica that was the problem. He hadn't heard from her in a few days. And that was never a good sign. At the best she had shown up at strums again. At worst she had done something terrible. Answering the phone Jason got back to work on his paperwork. He was going to need to leave soon.
" Hey Strum whats up brother." He said and not to his surprise the man on the other end began to explain the situation. So she had been there since last night. She hadn't even bothered to call him. He felt a little hurt that she would go to strum over him so quickly. It was like she didn't trust him or something. But it didn't matter as long as she was safe and ok he could live with it. His mention of getting cloths was a good idea. Jason had an extra change of cloths at his house for her as well. So it would be wise to get her one there. Jason could tell Strum was fine with what was going on but wanted to be sure he had contingencies in place. Just to be sure. " Alright Strum ill take care of it see you in a bit. " He said into the phone before letting strum hang up. He sighed before looking down at his paperwork once more. Just a little bit longer and he would be done
After finishing his work and getting out of the office Jason quickly made his way to Jessica's new home. He had helped her find the best area for her when she had first showed up. Using the spare key she had given him as a precaution he was able to get in and quickly find the cloths he thought would work the best for her. IT was all her stuff and Jason wasn't a fashion expert so three pairs of jeans, three blouses. and three sets of underwear were all he needed to grab. Finding her sneakers as well he grabbed them and put them in a bag before locking up and getting into his truck. Strum wasn't that far of a drive from there So it was a short trip
Pulling into Strums driveway Jason put it in park and sighed for a moment. What if she thought of him as the bad guy. or the guy that only got called when she was in trouble. He really didn't want to seem that way. It was just his job to look after her. But he wanted to be her friend to. How was he supposed to do that if no one trusted him. Or if they were afraid of him. He would ask her how she felt to be sure. He could be all wrong. But he wanted to believe that his people trusted him. And if she would rather hang around Strum then him so be it
Taking her bag in hand Jason walked up to the door and smelt food. That was just great. Jason hadn't eaten anything this morning and was starving. Hopefully his friend had thought ahead but if not Jason could live. He would just have to grab something on the way home. Walking into the kitchen he found the two of them. Jess looked a little ashamed. of course the fact that she was banging her head into the desk made it apparent. Smiling to them both as he stood next to the table Jason sighed before holding out the bag for Jess. " Here you go. Strum asked me to bring a few extra pairs in case you come here again. " He said calmly. setting it onto the table for her to grab when she wanted it Jason sat down and laid his head on the table. for a moment he just sat there thinking. He wasn't upset. but he wanted things to go ok. So he decided to just start from the beginning.
" So tell me what happened last night." He said to her calmly. curiously he waited for her to answer him. He was sure Strum was curious as well but he would let her take all the time she needed. No sense in rushing things. Especially if he wanted them to go well. He was going to ask her soon what she thought of the hole situation. But he was going to let her get what happened off her chest first

As much as he wanted to hear Jessica's story and to get her on her way, he didn't mind her sticking around, either. It was nice to finally have someone hanging around. Sure, she could be hell sometimes, but she wasn't all bad. Strum enjoyed the company, even if the company was hellbent on driving him insane. More than anything, he loved having someone to care for. She needed to be taken care of, assisted, and he didn't mind being the one to do it. Sure, he wasn't her sponsor, but he could offer a helping hand here and there. Especially if she was going to be showing up at his place and not Jason's. That was curious, and he wanted to ask her about it. He debated waiting until Jason got there, but he wasn't sure how personal of a question that would be. "Jessica?" he addressed her as she still lay in bed, "Why did you come here first?"
Holding out the shirt, he shrugged at her question. "He didn't sound mad," he said. "Jason is definitely more reasonable than I am, and far more patient." He laughed at himself, knowing both were true. Strum had a one-up on Jason for the moment, though, since until recently he had been the one responsible for most of everything pack related. Jason was getting back into the groove of things, but he was still rusty in some spots. The whole experience helped Strum to work on the his patience and understanding. Things just happen sometimes. The only thing he could do was help her through whatever mess she had created. He liked the idea of having someone else's mess to clean up. It meant he could focus less on his own for the time being.
Leading her out to hall and down the stairs, he was thankful she wasn't taunting like she had been the night before. The humming, as obnoxious as it was, was more than welcome in the usually quiet home. Sure, he liked his peace and quiet, but the occasional disruption kept everything from getting too monotonous. Jessica was a professional when it came to destroying the monotony in Strum's life. Hadn't even made it to her first month and she was all ready more of a hassle than his sponsor ever was. Not that he minded...too much. As long as he could handle whatever she gave him then he wouldn't complain too much.
Frowning at her reasoning for not eating anything, he said, "I'm sure I wouldn't mind the mess if it meant you had eaten. Did you eat before the shift last night?" Strum sat at the table across from Jessica, more worried about the information should could give him than getting her food. "We have better control of our wolves if we eat regularly," he told her, raising a brow at a thought that occurred to him. "Jason didn't tell you this yet?" he asked, sort of upset with Jason for not mentioning something vital like that. "Remind me to say something to him about it. It's too important of a detail to skip over." It was ridiculous how rookie Jason could be now that he was back. Sure, he had a lot on his plate, but that didn't excuse him for forgetting things that could get Jessica in trouble if she doesn't know them.
Rising from his seat, he started to rummage through the fridge. It was looking like it was about time he went grocery shopping again. He wondered how often he was going to have to feed her after a shift, not that he minded. Some company was better than none. Pulling out a package of lunch meat, he held it up and asked, "You like bologna?" Tossing it on the table in front of her, he set a loaf of bread beside it. "That's just temporary," he said, going back to the fridge. "Something to hold you over for the moment." Lucky for them both, Strum had taken out his last package of hamburger to defrost the day before. It was almost all he had left, though, so he was in desperate need of a grocery list and some free time.
Preparing a frying pan and the stove, he heard a thunk on the table behind him. Looking over at her, he sympathized. "You are not stupid," he told her, "It happens. When Jason gets here he can take you to where you left everything. If it's not there just call your card company and have it canceled." He returned his gaze to the food on the stove, but continued to console her. "Jason has a key to your home, right? So just have a copy of that made. This is why we're trying to help you, though. So that things like this don't happen. Don't worry. All of us had trouble in the beginning. Me, for sure." He was better now, though, and that was what mattered. Finally he was getting comfortable in his life, getting things settled.
Strum knew Jason was there before he spoke, having heard him come in. Not taking his eyes off the meat on the stove, Strum greeted Jason. "Thanks for coming over," he said, "and just in time for lunch, you moocher." Satisfied with the food for the moment, he looked back to the girl. "Make sure to leave some of those clothes here, Jessica. I would like to get to keep my own things here," he laughed, hoping she knew he wasn't too serious.

Jessica wasn’t sure how to answer Strums question on why she had gone to his home instead of Jasons. She hadn’t really thought on it, she’d simply followed her wolf’s desire, though part of her had been worried that going there would interfere with Jason’s personal time with his girlfriend. The last thing she wanted to do was get in between him and his home life, especially considering she still didn’t know the girl and she wasn’t comfortable around girlfriends she hadn’t met yet. Especially in a form she wasn’t use to being in, even the wrong look might make her mad or upset her enough to never want to go back.
Part of her wished she was still in her wolf form so she could curl up under the table and ignore the rest of the world for a while. Even if Jason didn’t seem mad, she knew he wasn’t going to be happy with her either. About the fight, about going to Strums when he was the one sponsoring her. His comment about him having more patience made her stop tugging her hair and throw him a doubtful look, “This is the second time I’ve kept you from sleeping when you wanted to, and that I barged in and woke up naked in your house. I really have a hard time believing me passed out on the couch at Jasons would go over very well, maybe with him, but I’m sure his girlfriend would be unhappy about a strange nude woman just being on their couch.”
Frowning at his question about eating she shook her head, ready to bash her head into the table again. “No…I just…didn’t wanna throw up when I shifted back. I…think I ate dinner before I want out…but it was hours before then…” She made a mental note to start eating more, and carrying something with her to eat when she went out. Maybe if she wasn’t hungry she wouldn’t lose her temper like that so easily again. At his question though she smiled, “Who doesn’t like bologna?” The idea of food being in her stomach soon made her happy, her legs swinging again, “He has a copy, I still hate that I lost all of it, it’s such a pain in the ass to replace everything.” She said, pouting slightly as she heard the truck pull up outside.
She shrunk in her chair and stared at her hands on the table, feeling like she was a child about to be yelled at for misbehaving, picking fights when she should’ve walked away, running off to her friends to hide out instead of going straight home (Jason’s home anyway). Jess hesitated, but snagged the bag from him before disappearing for a few minutes to change, she needed those few minutes to find her backbone so she could answer their questions like she needed to.
Tugging on the jeans and undergarments Jason had brought her, she left Strums shirt on, figuring she was already in it, why waste a possible change of clothes? Grabbing the sneakers out of the bag, she left them off her feet for now as she slowly made her way back into the kitchen and plopped into her chair. With a small sigh she stared at her lap. “I got in a fight…” She started before quickly adding on, “But he totally deserved it!” Biting her lip, feeling like it didn’t matter if he did or didn’t, she didn’t need to be as violent as she had been. “He wouldn’t back off, when he tried to touch me…I broke his nose…I was just so angry that he wouldn’t go away. I left hoping I could calm down, but as soon as I was in the alley I shifted. I managed to snag my phone, but didn’t think about my card, ID, or my keys.” The phone was so she could call Jason once she shifted back, but she’d then decided she wasn’t ready to get in trouble, her wolf just wanted to play.
“So…I came here. It’s what my wolf did last time…I wanted to play. I didn’t want to interrupt you and your girlfriends sleep, it was really late. I’d rather wake up one person over two. He tried calling you when I got here…but I took the phone away…” She was pouting, her voice not far from a whine. Sighing, she shrugged her shoulders to show there wasn’t much else to tell them. At least Strum seemed fine with the idea of her showing up out of the blue like this, now she just needed to deal with how mad they were going to be that she’d injured someone who hadn’t tried to injure her first.

Jason sighed as he waited for her to return. Everything from her posture to her actions showed him just how nervous Jess was about out this. She was afraid of him. Or maybe she was afraid of getting in trouble. But the fact that her feelings were caused by him made him feel terrible. crossing his arms on the table and then laying his head down on them Jason sighed. This was not what he wanted things to be like. He didn't want to be the father that yelled at his kids. His father had been like that. Even though she wasn't his kid she was still his responsibility. He didn't want to be the one that was called when there was trouble and the one who had to punish people. He wanted to be a leader everyone could go to no matter how small the trouble. That was what a leader should be. That was what Charles was.
" She is afraid of me Strum." He said in a low whisper. Strum was close enough to hear it easily. But Jess was still down the hall so it would be to low for her to hear over the sound of Strum cooking. It made him sad to think people still thought of him that way. Even though she was knew he was sure she wasn't the only one. When he had gone of the board he only seemed to show up when there was something to be punished. People still thought of him like that even though it had been months and he had been doing so much better. It really hurt him. Lifting his head up when she reentered the room Jason made a note to himself to make sure she learned not to worry about him. He was going to have to show her and everyone else he was a leader worth following.
Propping his head on his hands he listened intently as she described the situation. he had gone out last night and gotten into a fight. That could have ended badly but it was a good thing she got out of there when she did. Her Reasons for not calling him confirmed at least that she didn't want to interrupt him with Trin. He really needed to get it through to her that She understood and respected his responsibility. And even didn't mind helping however she could. As she finished Jason looked to her for a moment before dropping his head and sighing. Looking back up to her he gave her a small smile before giving his two cents.
" Well I'm glad it wasn't any worse then that. You did good getting out of there when you did. I doubt you will ever see that guy again. And he wouldn't back off. All things considered he is lucky he made it out with a broken nose. You cant let someone take advantage of you. And I'm proud of you for handling yourself responsibly after it happened" He said to her with his smile in tact. In perfect actuality she could have torn him apart. Even the frailest human woman could break someones nose though so it wouldn't make her suspicious. and she could have shifted in the bar and attacked him. Which could have gone all kinds of worse from there. He was glad she was safe more then anything. But she did take some very unnecessary risks.
" However, you took a big risk going out on your own. You are still very new to all this and what if next time someone follows you. We gave you are numbers for a reason. Its ok to want to go out and do things. Keeping yourself cooped up at home isn't good for you either. But you need to call next time you want to stay out and do something like that. Hell call strum heavens know he doesn't get out of this house enough. A trip to the bar could be good for him." He said adding a chuckle at the end to kinda lighten it up. He wasn't trying to be mean just to make things better.
Standing up he walked around the table and put a hand on her shoulder. He smiled to her again "And you can call me anytime you want to. Just because I'm with someone doesn't mean I'm not available. She respects my position and everything that comes with it. I'm your sponsor Jessica. And that means that i am here for you no matter what. IT doesn't matter when you call me I can always come and help you. Even if you just feel like things aren't going well and you need someone to talk to you can call me. If i wasn't one hundred percent ready to do what it took to sponsor you i wouldn't have offered to. I want you to be able to rely on me. And you don't have to worry about my girlfriend she is fine with all this like i said. So please call me in the future." He said to her before moving back to his seat he smiled to her once more.
" After we gets some food in you we can go look for your cards and keys they wont be too far from where you shifted at. You live in a good part of town so i doubt anyone stole it" He said in an attempt to reassure her. He had lived here all his life so he knew where to go and where not to go. Phoenix Valley could be a rough place to live. But it wasn't all bad. Looking over to strum Jason could smell what he was doing but couldn't make out what it was. He knew there was hamburger but that was it. " If Strum would hurry up and finish what he is cooking over there." He said with a light hearted chuckle. That wasn't so bad now was it. He hadn't yelled. Hadn't been mean. Just tried to be helpful. He would see how she responded to that
